“Loved Costa Rica!”

The resort was amazingly beautiful. The staff were very friendly and made my mom and I feel at home. The 2 story cottage we stayed at was magnificant and very clean. I absolutely loved the outside shower connected to the 1st floor bathroom! The road to the resort was very nice in regards to the scenic view, but the road was very bumpy. I was very thankful to have rented a 4 wheel drive car; definately needed it with the roads. Also, a car is needed to leave the resort and visit other places/beaches. The food in the restaurants was good, except a bit pricey.

“Beautiful Destination Resort - Perfect for Relaxation”

We stayed for a week at the Sanctuary and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. Excellent restaurant service and food with comfortable/luxury air-conditioned accommodations - I would go back in a minute. Make sure to venture out into the nearby villages and visit the restaurants as well - even the hut outside the entrance to the Sanctuary with "fresh lobster and therapeutic massage" had haute gourmet - highly recommended though the wait was long! Great food in Costa Rica! One thing to be aware of is the EXTREMELY rugged roads out to the Sanctuary. Takes about two hours from Liberia - the nearest international airport, which makes this hotel aptly named. Once you've reached it, you've accomplished something. Didn't get in the way of our thorough enjoyment of the experience. Plan on taking some tours as well.

“Very Nice Place”

It was a very nice hotel. The services were good, and it was very relaxed. Most of all, the staff was absolutely amazing, the were extremely nice people. The only downside was that there were ants in out room, and the hotel is pretty isolated. Other than that, it is a great Resort.

“A remote, peaceful retreat.”

We loved this resort. It is remote, located down some challenging gravel roads. We thought it was well worth the extra driving to get there. It is about an hour from Tamarindo and an hour and a half from Liberia (if you drive with zeal). The grounds are beautiful and it is located on an amazing, private black volcanic sand beach. The two story cottages were huge and nicely appointed. We primarily dined at the resort only for breakfast. The dinners were a bit pricey for what you get and all drinks from the bar were at least $7.00 each. Knowing this, we bought our own beer and wine in Liberia before getting to the resort. It is too bad for the resort as almost nobody ordered from the bar. I think if the drinks were even a bit more reasonable they would sell a lot more. We enjoyed trying the local restaurants for meals other than breakfast. We drank the water and were adventurous in dining though all our travels in Costa Rica. Nobody in our party developed illness during or after the trip. (although this is not likely true for everyone!) This is great resort to go to experience the real Costa Rica.

“Perfecto!”

My trip was wonderful. The staff is so friendly and attentive. The location is remote and beautiful. Be sure to take a Turtle Tour with Mike at Paski's Adventures. The hotel does a great job in arranging tours for you.

“very enjoyable”

road to the hotel is rugged but hotel setting is terrific once you get there. staff is very pleasant and friendly. facilities (gym, tennis, etc.)and tour options could be expanded. also hotel needs to be more informative on transportation challenges/ options to/from the hotel. bottom line- a place I'd definitely return to.

“Beautiful place for relaxation”

Everything was perfect except for the customer service at the front desk. People where not polite and seemed not interested in helping. Also, they tried to charge us two bottles of water from the minibar the werent even there from the begining. Nevertheless, we loved the service from the waiters, the room, the beach... amazing!!!

“pretty good place for a couple of days”

remote location so access is bad in the rainy season. We had to have a tractor pull us through flooded roads on the day we had to leave. The beach is nothing special, and the powerful waves are not good for swimming. The cottage was very nice, service was good, so it is a good place to relax for a couple of days.

“Remote Paradise”

The resort was located in a remote area but only 100 meters from Playa Azul (Blue Beach). I would highly recommend renting a car unless you want to spend your entire vacation at the resort. The staff was courteous and friendly. Everyday at 2p.m. there is walking tour, I would encourage the guest to participate in the scenic walk because you will most likely see monkeys. If you break anything by accident, you will be charged for the damages. That policy needs to be changed. The service was very good but the manager was very unreasonable regarding charging for the accidental damage.
