“I am amazed this hotel permits noisy parties on same floor as rooms.....up to 12 midnight.”
My wife and I checked into this hotel after a long drive. We were tired and hoping to have an early dinner and a restful evening. However starting at 8pm, there was a very loud and noisy party held in the courtyard level near our room and this did not stop until close to midnight! It is very irresponsible for the Management of this hotel to allow such an event. It is disrespectful of the other guests' privacy. The rate this hotel charged is over $250 per night! You would expect better treatment paying this rate. I complained about this but the best they said they could do was to give me a 10% discount. I told them to keep their 10%. I needed to rest and sleep, not a discount. Stay away from this hotel.
“A Jewel”
We got the top of the line room in the Contemporary section for an excellent Expedia "special" price. A large suite with separate bedroom and living room. A push button gas log fireplace. A spacious fully appointed bathroom. Loads of storage space. Cool breezes off of San Francisco Bay with a view of the Golden Gate from our bed. Free Wireless, in room refrigerator. Quality service in all respects. The location is secluded hidden among giant eucalypti trees. The scent pervated th property despite strong May breezes. Our trip did not go as planned. We spend most of our time on the property inviting our friends to join us.
“Serene Location - Amazing Views of Golden Gate Bridge”
We stayed here for our 15th wedding anniversary. We are locals, but wanted to travel a short distance, but still feel like we got away. This hotel was amazing for achieving this. It has a great feel about it and makes you feel like you are very far from everything, yet you are just on the Sausalito side of the Golden Gate Bridge. We stayed in the historic room and were upgraded to a suite. It was nicely updated with a great eco-modern feel to it. The views of the Bay and the Golden Gate Bridge are spectacular. I went on a hike in the morning and was gifted to a nice uphill climb with one of the most spectacular views I have ever seen. Literally the view from Fort Battery is the view of the Golden Gate Bridge you see on postcards. The restaurant at this hotel was recently rewarded a Michelin star and it lived up to the hype. It was excellent. We also enjoyed the spa. It is a fantastic place to get away from it all.
“Not What You Expect For the Price”
First note that this hotel is formerly a military base, now a National Park, and guest rooms are either in the refurbished military housing buildings or in the newer hillside condos. The location was beautiful and we had a perfect view of the Golden Gate Bridge. Staff, rather arrogant. The cleanliness of the room was okay but when we first walked in the room, a mirror in the main area was splattered with what looked like milk or baby formula. When we checked out after four days the mirror was still dirty. Yes, "cleaning" service came to our room each day. In fact, one of the maids came back to our room later in the evening needing to search our room for her lost phone. She insisted on sticking around until she could check the bathroom (which was occupied). The hotel staff uses golf carts to get around and everytime the golf cart is put in reverse, there is a beeping sound which gets annoying first thing in the morning or late at night when you are trying to sleep. Nearest parking can be several hundred yards away from your room and there is no way to drive up to your room to load and unload your luggage so you need to either ask a staff member (more tipping) to help or trudge through doing it yourself and if housekeeping happens to be working during checkout, they have their carts parked in the middle of the walkway adding to the struggle. Overall, the hotel was overpriced and over-rated. The location and view were great but customer service needs major work.
“Beware of the foghorns!”
We arrived late from a flight from Italy, as expected, and were told that we were assigned a room but would be moved the next day (told it was an upgrade). We had a great view of the Golden Gate first night but when moved the next day (it was a larger room however), our view was entirely blocked by a giant tree. We did not request the upgrade nor want it. The 2nd night, we were awakened around 2 am by dueling foghorns about every 8 seconds. While I understand the fog is out of their control, it is a good thing to be aware of if considering a "relaxing" stay. Earplugs did nothing and we could not sleep. I asked for a little consideration the next day for a late checkout and this was denied. Otherwise, it's a beautiful property (IF you can see anything!!).
“we loved it but would try other spots for variety.”
Loved the area, and our view. I didn't appreciate the waitress flirting with my husband but wouldn't let that deter anyone from visiting this gem at edge of the Golden Gate Bridge.
“Better than expected”
Other than having my reservation for the wrong date, (quickly corrected), the service was faultless throughout. Very helpful valet on arrival (we didn't need to use the golf karts as self-parking was near to our room). The room was on the ground floor in one of trhe wooden buildings, very nicely appointed, high quality tolietries, slight noise from upstairs but this was expected given the historic structure - ear plugs were supplied for the sensitive. Both the bar and Murray Circle restaurant were excellent - both food and service were outstanding. Wonderful location, an excellent alternative to staying in the city with lovely walks to the headlands nearby. Certainly can recommend.
“Cavallo Point needs to work on customer service”
The location is spectacular, but the service could use a little polishing...After being out for the entire day, I had to request the room to be made at 4PM...and they did it very poorly...
“Perfect blend of the senses”
Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Golf carts with lap blankets shuttled you from check-in to your room. Great views of the Golden Gate Bridge. Open your windows and let in the fresh pine breeze. Walk down to the bay. Excellent proximity to downtown San Francisco, Sausalito and Muir Woods. Service and food and the on-site restaurant, Murray Circle, were great. You were certainly not rushed.
“Unique place to stay in SF”
Beautiful views, great rooms, large bathrooms. Location is a little remote but will definitely go back!
