“Colonial Inn- ask for upgraded room”

We asked for the upgraded room with the king size bed and were very pleased with this room.

“A GREAT ROOM!”

This motel is a keeper! The room was completely updated and included a supreme king bed with high quality sheets. Decent towels too. Loved the large walk-in shower, but would have liked warmer water. We expected a charming old yet well cared for motel, this place exceeded our expectations. It was simple, but clean, quiet, comfortable, and reasonable for a one night stay (a rarity in this area). The room had a coffee maker and microwave, but no micro cups or utensils - not a big deal, just have them if you want/need them. They may be available from the desk, we made do, and didn't ask. If you're looking for a complete luxury experience, this isn't it, but if you want a HUGE step up from low to mid cost motel chains, this is a total winner!

“clean, nicely decorated affordable accomodations”

This independent hotel served our needs very well. The decor was very nice; the price was great, the location was in a residential neighborhood. I had been a little concerned about staying at an unknown independent motel - but was extremely pleased with it!! Would highly recommend for a traveler who is budget conscious - the room was equiped with microwave, coffee maker and refridge - very clean and very nicely uniquely decorated. For us it was great. If you're a light sleeper and used to not hearing any road noise, it might not be the best, because you can hear the sounds of the highway - but not badly and it didn't effect us at all. I would definately stay again both because it was a lovely little motel and the cost was very budget friendly. The one small drawback was there was no ice machine - but that is really nothing much in the scheme of things.

“Bay area best kept secret”

Good location in San Rafael, CA with short drives to San Francisco and the wine country. Ask for the non-smoking king suite which is all new and at a good rate. Motel management told me that all rooms are being upgraded so be sure and ask for the suite or one of the rooms renewed.

“A good location”

It's not fancy but it's adequate. A bit musty because the ac works only when the card is in a holder. The staff went above and beyond to be helpful and accommodating. That's well worth it!!

“Good value.”

The motel shows its age but a good value for the money ( my wife is a little picky and she was satisfied ). We'd return.

“Great Value Bare-bones Hotel close to 3d/4th Streets in San Rafael”

This was just what we were looking for. We were on a 3-day bike trip and just needed a place to shower and sleep. It's in a quiet neighborhood. Very reasonable. Good TV. Comfortable beds. Bathroom wasn't great but serviceable. About 8 blocks from Sol Food on 4th Street -- Great Puerto Rican food.
