Lots of Good and a Little Not so Good....

Posted Jun 28, 2014
Pros: Staff, amenities, location, wine and cheese reception, bed comfort, tub and breakfast.
Cons: Attention to maintenance of building.
Location: Perfect location! Tons of shops and restaurants within walking distance. Ferry is close by as well as hiking and biking routes.
The staff were just wonderful. Every person we came in contact with were friendly, helpful and efficient. We loved the wine and cheese reception. Lots of lovely snacks, soft music and wine. The breakfast was also just perfect-plenty of choices and good things to eat. Also, loved the claw foot tub after a morning of hiking and the bed was so comfortable. Now, for the not so good... We stayed in the Juniper Room. Unfortunately, it is just above street level and very, very noisy. We were awakened each morning by the sounds of car doors, car alarms, talking, garbage trucks, etc. Our room also had a light out in the bathroom, a light out in the bedroom, cracked hearth, missing plaster in bathroom (I do realize this is a very old building).

Great location

Old Sausalito charm and elegance. We love it here and will definetly come again. Walked waterfront, shopped and enjoyed a wonderful dinner all less than a five minute walk. Short drive to Marin Headlands and beach.

A TOP Boutique Hotel with an exceptional location

Posted May 27, 2014
Pros: Location, Amenities, Decor, Old, with new fixtures!!!
Cons: Nothing.
Location: Center of town, can walk most anywhere. Choice of multiple restaurants. Near the Ferry terminal, so we won't even have to drive to get here.
We made a last minute reservation over the Memorial Day Weekend and ended up with a Hotel of exceptional quality. The room was super, with a private courtyard through French Doors. The room also had an alcove with a very comfortabel sofa. There was wine and snacks to buy (for a REASONABLE price, unlike major hotels), as well as a GOOD coffee maker, with GOOD coffee. The continental breakfast was much more than we expected as well. We walked to dinner the night before and had a choice of at least 10 restaurants without driving anywhere . We have this Hotel on our MUST revisit list!!

Perfect spot in Sausalito

Posted May 21, 2014
A few blocks from the ferry and right in the heart of things but not noisy. My room was small but very comfortable. Great complimentary wine and cheese in the evening and breakfast in the am. Cannot wait to go back. Bike rental place next door and beautiful paths around the bay.

Great location in Bay area

Posted Apr 22, 2014
Pros: Location, location, location. Comfortable room, great breakfast and knowledgable staff.
Location: Sausalito is a wonderful base to explore the city (San Francisco, wine country and the coast north of SF.
Our entire experience was wonderful. Hotel staff were helpful in recommendation for attractions and restaurants. This hotel is well situated in Sausalito and close to San Francisco and Napa. The rooms are comfortable and roomy. The wine and chees reception was enjoyable and provided the opportunity to interact with hotel staff and other guests.

very nice and stress relieving.

Pros: overall atmosphere. Very relaxing. Nice staff. Breakfast was well thought of- you can see they made efforts for guests to have a good and healthy bfst
Cons: Plumbing update while maintaining its quaint atmosphere. AC didn't work in our room though but not a big deal at that time (since it wasn't that hot)
Location: Angelino's restaurant -great italian food (It will help if you speak italian). Excellent burgers at Napa burgers... all at a walking distance.
love the overall experience. Went to the bay area for business with my wife wanting to visit Sausalito. Located in the heart of it so this was a no brainer.

What a great surprise.

Posted Mar 29, 2014
Pros: Staff service, cleanliness and location.
Cons: Nothing. Keep in mind this is an older hotel and that the design is unique as a bed and breakfast.
Location: Bike rental, shopping, restaurants overlooking the water, close ferry ride to the city. Also within an hours drive to Napa and Sonoma wineries.
Enjoyed our stay at the Gables Inn in Sausalito very much. It was a great surprise to find the staff so friendly and responsive as well as such a well kept historic hotel. The evening reception with wine tasting and fabulous cheese and snack assortment was hosted well and the icing on the cake. The closeness to the main street and a beautiful view of San Francisco was just a few steps down Princess street lined with many small shops. A few more minutes walking and you are at the Ferry which will take you into San Francisco. The main street has many more shops and restaurants within five minutes of walking.

Construction in the morning. Rude manager. V

Posted Feb 14, 2014
My stay was alright until I heard drilling in the ground at 7 am. I was half asleep and called front desk at 10am. The manager came down to my room and said he couldn't here anything from the front desk but as soon as he was in my room heard how loud it was. I'm a city girl so I'm used to it being loud and that's why I wanted to get away. He did nothing to make me want to come back. He was rude and sarcastic . Never again

Small hotel

Posted Feb 12, 2014
Cons: Refregerator is put on ground. Maybe better if stands on a frame.
Location: Viewing San Francisco from other side of the Bay (outside to the shore, not from room)
Small hotel, much smaller than imagined from the hotel's website. Parking is a problem, especially for me newly settled in the United States. Breakfast is wonderful.
