Great suite hotel, wonderful service from staff

Posted May 1, 2015
Pros: Staff
Cons: Internet
Sadly my stay this time was terrible due to two issues: first this is a business hotel and the internet in the rooms is just too slow to do any meaningful work, for decent internet you have to pay extra and this should be part of any business hotel offering. Secondly room 602 whether it was the HVAC or elevator had strange mechanical noise all night long - like sleeping at Kings Cross Station. The staff the rooms everything else is very comfortable but they need to figure out who the ghost in the machine is on the 6th floor!

Great Value

Posted Apr 12, 2015
Pros: Everything was very nice. Starbucks coffee was avail at the gym with a granola bar and it was cheaper than going there.
Cons: Rooms could be brighter, or more lighting, and more TV stations, for the bad weather days
Location: Lots of food places, If you are not from the area, roads are confusing. Some are toll roads, but you need to be a residence to use
Although not centrally located near Toronto, If you just want to experience great food this is the location. Everything was very high end and nice. Gym was off the hook. The only downside, was that the weather was terrible so we thought we could just stay in with the kids and use the pool but the pool was under renovations. A bummer indeed, but they did comp us the parking. Needed more TV stations and more parking. Some convention was going on at the same time as our stay

Mixed bag far from everything

Posted Apr 9, 2015
Pros: Very nice lobby
Cons: Bad climate control. Bad soundproofing in rooms. Bad issue resolution. Bad plumbing. VERY SLOW INTERNET.
Location: Shopping center across the street with a bank, McDonalds, pizza joint, Greek salad place, Chinese restaurant and drugstore. All else = long drive.
The hotel exterior is modern, lobby is very nice with a bar and glass elevators servicing 10 floors. The rooms are showing some age and are not well soundproofed. Climate control is digital but iffy (we were moved because of noise and not enough heat). Parking is an extra $10 per day even though the parking lot is far from full (we were there for nearly a week and it was basically a ghost town the whole time). The room we moved to had a minibar. When I opened it, an already-open can of tonic water spilled out onto the floor. The bathroom did not have a heat lamp and had a strong, cold breeze blowing through it at all times regardless of what the thermostat in the room was set to. On our last day, there was no water. Not just no hot water, no water at all. We had to rush to the airport and it would have been useful to take a shower first. When I called down, I was told "we have another building, if you'd like to shower there." Seriously? When I checked out, I was comped two days of parking. Really, not being able to take a shower was only worth a $20 comp? Ridiculous. Also it's worth noting that this hotel is an hour from Toronto, a half hour from North York, and a half hour from the airport, if the 407 toll road is used. Longer if surface streets are used. It seems to be in the middle of a very Asian area in Markham. Not good or bad, just fact. Also, the Internet connection was free but DOG SLOW. Unusable for VoIP or teleconferencing of any kind (Adobe Connect, etc.)

Interesting

Posted Apr 9, 2015
Pros: The food was good and staff were friendly and helpful. We liked the location to the event we were attending. Enjoyed the breakfast buffet very much.
Cons: Attention to detail in the rooms
Location: Location was fine for us as it was close to the event we were attending.
When we arrived we were told the pool was being serviced so we could not use it! (think we should have been notified of this prior to arrival) . Also were told that parking was $10 a day but our room information books said it was free?? So they did not charge us. The two TV's in our room both would freeze up every 3-4 minutes?? good job we were not there to watch TV lol! We were disappointed that the shower wall was all hard water stained! We asked for it to be cleaned but it was the same when we came back ??.( I am sure they tried). The curtains looked like they had been washed and tossed in a bundle and hung up last minute with out being ironed. Never been in a hotel with the curtains like that. Hate to complain but it was not what we expected of a 5 star Hotel and Conference Center. Food was really good! staff were friendly and very nice.

Nice hotel.

Posted Apr 4, 2015
Pros: The hotel was nice and it was close to some grocery stores etc.
Cons: The staff at the front door and receptiontion could use improvement.
Location: Buttonville is a nice little place to walk around.
We stayed at this hotel for one night. The hotel is clean and nicely decorated. Normally when there is a doorman standing at the front entrance of a hotel they usually will acknowledge customers with a good morning or hello but the man at the front door just looked at us. He really didnt do much. I found that kind of strange. The receptionist at the front told my husband that parking was included but when we got our bill we were charged for it. We couldnt be bothered challenging it so we paid it.
