Hotel needs an update and better staff training.Posted Jun 30, 2014
Pros: The location and exterior.
Cons: Staff - learning how to handle customers, clean a room, and run a restaurant - .
Location: Blenheim is fantastic. A cute little town near Picton and so close to Marlborough for wine tasting!
Our stay was very disappointing. The hotel exterior is nice but that is where it stopped for us. On checking in we were greeted with a sour faced employee, the room was ok - the interior was fine - but the bathroom was extremely old and the shower useless. The bedside tables were covered in dust and looked like they hadn't been cleaned in a long time. At the time I thought this was because we purchased a great rate online but we then went on to stay at the Hilton in Taupo (where we payed less!) and had a fantastic experience in a new room with great staff. We had breakfast one morning at the hotel and it was embarrassing for the hotel. The service was slow and the food of poor standard. This hotel IS NOT worth it.

ComfortablePosted May 11, 2014
We only spent one night here on our way down to Queenstown. The room was spacious, clean and very comfortable. We ate at the restaurant for dinner and breakfast, both very enjoyable. The staff was friendly and helpful directing is to the nearest shops and wineries on our way out of town.

Fabulous stay in Blenheim- we will be back!Posted Apr 5, 2014
Location: We highly recommend Bubbly Grape Wine Tours. We spent a wonderful day tasting wines with them.
My husband and I spent two nights at the Chateau Marlborough and our stay was fabulous. Our room was lovely- very clean, nicely furnished with a little kitchenette area which I wasn't expecting. The staff were all warm and welcoming, the outdoor pool was a lovely place to relax in the sun after a day of wine tasting and the food was delicious. Loved being walking distance to anywhere you wanted to go in town. We certainly hope to be back to Blenheim and will definitely stay at the Chateau Marlborough again.

Stylish boutique hotel recently refurbished.Posted Mar 15, 2014
Pros: I liked the staff, pool area, breakfasts, and contemporary finish.
Cons: Bathrooms are next to be refurbished.
Location: Raupos restaurant and Bubbly wine tours recommended.
Stylish, boutique hotel, partly overlooking pretty park and in easy walking distance of shops and restaurants. The bathrooms had not been refurbished up to the excellent standard of the rest of the accommodation, but we were given a $20 dollar voucher to spend in the hotels Quench restaurant as compensation - remember to hand this in before you order your meal. Breakfast cooked to order - preferred this to a buffet. Pool area accessible and comfortable. Staff very friendly.

Luxury and ibpndividualityPosted Mar 1, 2014
Pros: The welcome was friendly and efficient and the hotel and room design are attractive.
Location: The location is ideal for wineries and local restaurants.
In an era of blandness in hotel design the Chateau Marlborough offers a touch of individuality. Our room was an interesting space with a choice of spaces to enjoy. If only we had had more time to enjoy it. Service was good and attentive and the restaurant added to the quality of the facilities, providing an excellent breakfast to set us on our way.

Nice hotelPosted Feb 19, 2014
Pros: Clean and comfortable rooms, nice outdoor pool area.
Cons: Internet access via a room code was intermittent. Widows are very large and rooms are not very private.
Location: Ideal for visiting nearby wineries. Receptionist advised us where to go which was really helpful. Near centre of Blenheim and supermarket.
Stayed for one night after ferry crossing to Picton.

Characterful hotel at the foot of a volcanoPosted Feb 12, 2014
Pros: Location, the building, comfort
Cons: The pool in the basement was a bit dreary and the golf course was overgrown making it difficult to play.
Location: On the edge of the Tongariro National Park. Skiing in winter. Lots of trails for hikers all year round. Otherwise a very quiet location.
The Chateau is a very grand old hotel on the edge of the Tongariro National park in a splendid location. Great views across the countryside and on a clear day of the volcano itself. The room was large and very clean and comfortable. Food in the restaurant was very good if a little pricey. Definitely recommended for a stay in this area and good value for money.
