“Greatest staff ever”
Everybody bent over backwards to meet our needs....from umbrellas for a rainy day to doing our laundry in a few hours. Everyone from the front desk, to the bartender, to the restaurant wait staff was very friendly, providing us information about the area, what to do, where to eat, etc. We had a huge upgraded room, with all the amentities (except A/C). The lack of AC was not a big deal the two days we were there, but could be during a hot spell....but the goal of staying in Marlborough is to visit wineries during the day anyhow. Would go back in a heartbeat.
“Fails to meet expectations”
The advertising is misleading. Room was allegedly an upgrade, but very small, long & skinny, more like a conference room converted. Room decor more like an inlaw basement guest room than a nice hotel. No couch in our room, No AC, no fans either so the room was stuffy. There was hair on our bathroom floor, hair in the tub and "debris" on the toilet behind the seat. It seemed like they only changed the towels. This is unacceptable at ANY property . The location is on a highway and not a pleasant walk to town. Bad option if you don't have a car. The property seems more like a bad 70's hotel with a fresh coat of paint than a boutique hotel. The price point should be less considering the quality of the property. I'm really surprised Millenium has their name attached to the property. Normally their properties are much nicer.
“Copthorne Hotel Marlborough”
It is about 10 minutes' walking from the iSite/ Railway station/ Intercity bus stop, which was good. Room is pretty spacious and bathroom has a jacuzzi bath tub. However, the walls are a little thin and as the rooms are all on the 1st storey, it can get a little noisy at times from the noise outside.
