We booked our stay in October of 2014, we specifically wanted to be on Maroma Beach, without paying the pricier cost of Secrets next door. Keep in mind that there will be seaweed in the water...this is unavoidable, pretty much anywhere you go in the Caribbean for the last few years now. The beach is still beautiful though, powdery white sand, and lovely turquoise water. Our main goal was to sit on the beach most of the week, and it did not disappoint, they have nice big palapas on this side of the resort. The pool is not huge, nor the most luxurious, but the temperature was perfect, and they have a great deep plunge area.
This was our first time at an all-inclusive, and we found the food to be pretty much what we expected, not 5 star gourmet, but still very enjoyable. The servers were attentive, and accommodating. The bartenders at the pool bar are great, always willing to give you an extra pour, and they did not charge extra for non-domestic alcohol. The servers on the beach are exceptional, fun to chat with, and we never had to wait long for a drink.
Our room was very spacious, clean, and everything worked fine. No issues there, or with the A/C. The staff always went out of their way to help us, and they were probably the friendliest of any resort we have been to. And a shout out to the grounds of the resort, lush and beautiful, with some friendly cute critters running around--if you like that, like we do.
