Luxury and Convenience at a great price

Posted Mar 19, 2014
We basically booked this hotel as a spur of the moment break from work and we were pleasantly surprised. We wanted somewhere close to the centre of town so we didn't have to walk mikes or take a shuttle bus (on a schedule). We also wanted to stay somewhere that was rustic and had a traditional Moroccan flavour. The Angsana Riad collection was perfect for us and the hospitality and friendliness of the staff was second to none we had previously experienced. (Hamid and Abdelrahim) made sure they have us inside tips on booking tours and haggling with taxis or traders. We were literally a 5minute meander through the Dar Si Daid souks to get the the vibrant and colourful Jemaa El Fna square. Breakfast was plentiful. We visited Ourika and the waterfall and I must say that was a great experience even though I wore inappropriate footwear (it's a bit of rock climbing to get there 2000m above sea level).

Pleasantly quiet hotel

Posted Feb 18, 2014
Pros: Big rooms, friendly staff, good food.
Cons: The morning coffee could be a bit better! But otherwise nothing!
Great experience. Upon arriving we were upgraded to a premier suite for free due to the increased availability. Greeted with Moroccan mint tea and biscuits as we walked through the door. Rooms were very spacious and clean and there was a peaceful atmosphere in the entire riad which was a welcome break from the noises of the city right outside. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly.

perfect retreat from bustling streets of Marakech.

Pros: The size of the suite, the cleanliness, the d├ęcor, the breakfast and the professionalism and friendliness of the staff.
Location: Great location to reach the main square and has a parking 3 minutes walk away so very convenient to be dropped off from airport or catch your taxi.
we loved every bit of the hotel, rom the sumptuous breakfast, amazing room, great friendly and always eager to help staff. One of the best places we have stayed in, we love it and would definitely go back.

Excellent service from Angsana Riad

Posted Dec 29, 2013
Pros: Helpful staff, great decor / furnishings.
Cons: Wifi was a bit unreliable, but sorted on day 3. Pricing of some of the day tours around Marrakech seemed a bit pricey.
Location: 5 mins walk from Djemaa el-Fna main square & souk district. 50m from Dar Si Said Museum.
We had a great time at this hotel - service and decor / furnishings were excellent. Wifi was a bit hit and miss. Meals served in main riad (hotel with courtyard) are up to good standard. Staff extremely helpful. Hotel is made up of 5 sites which are very close (c. 100m of each other) plus one which is more remote. We went on one day trip to Essaouira, very successful though not cheap. Would very happily stay there again.

Excellent hotel, best of luck in finding it!

Posted Dec 18, 2013
Pros: The location (once you'd worked out where the hotel actually was), the nice, airy setting in the riads, the general atmosphere and the free wifi!
Cons: First hotel I've stayed in in a while where there wasn't a TV. However, given that we didn't go to Marakech to watch Moroccan TV, no problem
Location: See above. On the one hand, smack in the middle of the Medina, so great. On the other hand, best of luck in finding the hotel on arrival
We enjoyed our time at the Angsana Riads and would recommend it to others. It is decent value for money and it is well located. Our room was not huge, but it had clearly been well looked after and we felt very much at home there. The hotel seemed to be popular with western tourists, and the breakfast in particular reflected that; croissants, bread rolls and eggs. That is not a criticism, but if you're after authentic Moroccan cuisine, then you're going to have to look elsewhere. One thing that anyone looking to stay at the Angsana Riads should note is that unless you speak Arabic or have a very good knowledge of Marrakech's medina, you have almost zero chance of finding this hotel on your own. I strongly doubt whether taxi drivers picking you up at the airport will know the way to the hotel's front door either - it is deep in the Medina, surrounded by narrow lanes that no taxi will be able to drive down. As it happens, we took the bus (number 19) from the airport to the main square (30DH single, 50DH return) - the journey took about 20 minutes and was very straightforward. The square can't be further than 300 metres from the hotel, but you've no chance of finding your way through the lanes alone. We ended up (after a number of false starts) getting someone to walk us there. It seemed to be the only way of finding the place! That aside, this hotel offers a good deal if you want a central location that is reasonably priced.
