Nice hotel well located

Posted Jul 29, 2015
Pros: Location, comfort.
Cons: At times - the lobby smelt like a sewer, quite unpleasant. Out of a five day stay, we had to ask twice to have the room made up.
The room was a good size, recently updated with new carpets, decoration and bed, and some nice older pieces to give it character. Staff were pleasant. It was nice to be on the port - you could head out for the morning, return for some air conditioned refreshment and then head out again. Nice big bathroom with a full sized bathtub.

spacious rooms, but a bit overpriced

Posted Jun 5, 2015
Pros: Large, clean rooms and a great breakfast
Cons: The hotel is fine, but it is pricey.
Location: You can walk to the beautiful Byzantine church, and you can take a city train up to the castle on the hill.
This hotel offers spacious rooms and a great breakfast. It is centrally located, near the center square and metro line. The staff is very helpful and accommodating. However, there are few markets located around the hotel. The surrounding area is mainly high end stores and restaurants, but if you want to buy food to store in the mini-fridge, you will have a hard time finding a grocery store and good bakery nearby. The hotel is located near the metro line, and you can take the 20-minute walk to the train station if you want to save some money. However, Marseilles is a very dirty city with dog poop all over the place, so much of the time we found ourselves looking down while we walked. Generally, however, this hotel is a good, safe choice for a stay in Marseilles.

Marseilles In May

Posted May 30, 2015
Pros: Excellent location, very clean, good buffet breakfast, welcoming staff, always polite and ready to help, suitable for business travellers and couples
Cons: Nothing
Location: Central location in the old port: weekend craft market on the promenade, lots of restaurants, bars, excursions and nice boutiques and shops
Excellent hotel location in the city centre with a view of the old harbour surrounded by many restaurants , bars, metro station and buses. We liked the Hop on Hop off sightseeing bus and also travelling round Marseilles on petit train and a sea boat excursion. The weather was sunny and warm: we walked along the promenade every evening enjoying the local cuisine and wine.

Sea View is a must

Posted May 7, 2015
Pros: I liked the staff, and I liked the cleanliness
Cons: Two chairs per room, info for tourists. A map of Marseille would be good. hangers, More storage space
Location: Right in the middle of the old town. Tons of things to do, recommend: a trip to Chateua D'If, and to Arles. Beware of being ripped off by restaurants
The room was small but comfortable, and the bed very nice. However, there were no instructions on how to use the rather strange coffee machine, no info for tourists, only one rather uncomfortable chair, and no where to store clothes, other than one cupboard for which they had only provided three hangers (for two people!). No drawers whatsoever. Now it may be possible that they put Expedia customers in the smallest rooms, but who knows - but certainly for a four star I felt the room was only three star. Having said that the cleaners ought to be commended - we returned every day to a fresh room kept in good condition. The view from the room was great as well, and the location of the hotel, being near the underground, and the old port with all the tourist attractions is brilliant. I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again, but next time I might bring some hangers with me!

Location, Location, Location

Posted Apr 20, 2015
Pros: Location
Cons: Room decorations
Location: Perfect location for sightseeing, transport links and the restaurants and cafes.
Stayed here for one night only for the Rugby so I did not use any of the facilities of this hotel. I should point out however that this place is perfectly located to explore marseille close to the harbourfront and the restaurants in the local area. It is also very convenient for sightseeing. The staff were helpful. The rooms were showing their age, however the hotel was going through a renovation so I suspect future travellers will see the benefit of the refurbishments.

Prima plek | Beetje gedateerde kamer

Posted Mar 20, 2015
Pros: De ligging, de badkamer, ruime kamer
Cons: Nieuwe vloerbedekking, normale prijs ontbijt
Location: Ideale locatie, aan de oude haven
Ruime kamer, prima plek, heerlijke badkamer, kamer wat gedateerd. Uitzicht op een piepkleine binnenplaats/grijze muur. Heerlijk rustig.Hotel wordt gerenoveerd. Prijs was prima. Onbijt te kostbaar, buiten de deur genoeg leuke tentjes

Marseille Harbor

Posted Mar 20, 2015 on Hotels
A lovely old hotel in a great location, great view of the harbour. Chopin had stayed there! The wifi service in room was almost unusably slow, even when paying for upgraded connection, although wifi in the lobby was better and we used the hotel's free Computer and printer to print boarding passes for our next flight.
