Location was great - very close to the marina, eating places, shops, Office de Tourism and some transport. Room was clean - but small (that's France). The addition of an electric jug would have been a big improvement. I prepaid my accommodation but was asked to pay again when I checked in. Apart from that incident, staff were nice.

Location location location
Can’t beat the location. Very central to everything city center, Vieux port, museums, shopping, short bus ride to the beaches, short bus ride to Notre dam basilica. Accommodations and service quality can be improved. Overall reasonable value for the money.

The place is suitable for simple stay just with bed and breakfast. Close to the Metro station, it is nice to explore the city. The staff were very kind and helpful.

Good location, close to the Opera House
I must admit the lighting in my room was amazing. It was extremely bright which is what I hope for in a room and they delivered. I liked the location as it was close to the water and easy to get around from there. They were also very hospitable and helpful with my bags and information.

Watch out for mosquito bites!
Hotel nice location but must carry luggage up 1 flight to lobby then elevator. Elevator can carry either 2 person or 1 person +1 large suit case.

Location Location Location
Hotel was purely chosen due to cheapness as there for Euro 16. First impression when arrived was stains on carpet leading to first floor reception. Room was claustrophobic and stifling hot as no air conditioning. No proper shower, just bath with hand held shower head. Had to buy shower gel as none provided just small bar of soap. Breakfast was good coffee, fresh orange juice, crossiant, baguette and yoghurt. Staff were friendly. Served my purpose for visiting Marseille for football, but would not stay again.

Thank you for your visit and your comment a little bit harsh. Indeed, we set the air conditioning to a temperature suitable for everyone, not to that of a refrigerator. Sorry for the shower gel, but we have chosen to provide soap and shampoo. If you enjoyed the quality of the breakfast, the friendly staff and the cheap price, those are big pluses. Budget-conscious base for exploring the Vieux Port
The Hotel du Sud is a typical French two-star hotel -- well maintained, a bit spartan, compact rooms (and in this case, a nicely renovated bathroom). It made a good base from which to explore Marseille's fascinating Vieux Port and great new museums. Within the nearby blocks, shopaholics will find everything from bargain knockoff stores to luxe designer stores. Staff at the hotel were all pleasant and helpful. After trying the continental breakfast the first morning, I decided to skip it the next day, figuring it wasn't great value for the 9-euro price I saw noted on a sign -- then a kindly staff member reminded my that the breakfast was included in the Hotels.com room rate I'd booked -- a pleasant bonus. One caution: if you're noise-sensitive, make that known when you book. There's a nightclub on ground level and amplified sound can resonate to lower floors on the street side of the building.

Basic hotel in the heart of things
In the heart of the Marseille's Vieux Port (old Port) , a small city centre hotel. Nice staff. Basic with small rooms but OK, let down by the uncomfortable beds and the lack of pillows ( all rooms should have 2 good pillows per person in my book not one skinny one between two as here). Parking is in local multi story - hotel arranges a discount (down to 24 Euros) but we found a closer underground multi-storey at 13 Euros for 24 hours, which we told them about..

Happy Days in Marseille
We appreciated a basic and inexpensive room that was close to the Old Port. The Opera House was at the end of our street and a Ferris Wheel was set up a block away at the port. Marseilles is not a quiet city and we were on the street side of the building so it was loud. Next time we would request a room facing a quiet direction but we enjoyed our stay.

Perfect location
The hotel couldn't be located in a better place since it is a minute from "le vieux port". It's staff is very helpful and sympathetic. The rooms are a bit small and the stairs to get to the reception from outside are a bit stiff.

Hotel Under Construction
The hotel was under construction which was not advertised when we booked it. The lower floors were being renovated but this left the upper floors smelling of glue and paint fumes. With a newborn this was unsatisfactory and even without I would have had trouble staying there. We had booked a non-refundable rate but the front desk let us out of it due to the smell and coordination with hotels.com. Without the refund this would be a one star review. Definitely do no stay here until the construction is over but good luck knowing when that will be since they don't publish it.

pleasant hotel in a great location near the port. short walk from the metro. many restraunts nearby. the room and bathroom was very clean, though the deco a little outdated. there was also no air-conditioning and the room can get quite hot in the summer.

Enkelt hotell med bra läge nära hamnen.
Ett litet hotell med bra läge. Men inget för någon med svaga ben, då hissen inte gick till entréplanet, och utsikten mot bakgården var allt annat än charmig. Fast hotellet var ändå prisvärt.

숙박시설은 꽤 오래되보였지만 카운터가 너무 친절했습니다. 할아버지가 친절하셔서 좋았습니다. 좋은 위치에 잠을 자기에 좋은 공간입니다. 다만 호텔서비스를 기대하는것은 좋지못합니다. 열쇠를 이용한 출입이며, 호텔입구도 프론트에 문을 열어달라는 불편함이 있긴하지만 좋은 경험이였습니다.

L'emplacement près du port interéssant.le personnel est gentil. Le tapis pour se rendre aux chambres est sale et sent mauvais. Les chambres sont miniatures. La douche téléphone doit être tenue car il n' y a pas de socle au mur. Endroit très bruyant et difficile d'accès. Stationnement très cher malgré la petite réduction de l'hotel.
