The hotel is a typical $80 a night hotel, staff were very nice and the room clean and quiet, the hotel is showing its age but for my stopover on my travels it was all i needed.

Property was very dirty Uncle. I felt like I was going to get bugs. The pool wasn’t open and the refrigerator knocked in the room so loud that I had to unplug it through the night nobody was at the desk for assistance.

Room had mode in the ceiling, carpet had wholes. Bed sheets had cigarette burns, and old blood stains two night at 3 am room above a lots of noise . The other thing it puts down dog friendly. I have stayed here before I’ve never been charged for keeping my dog in the room. This time I got charged $40. It would be nice that on the website and it would state that there is a fee for having dogs.

Good enough for a one night stay driving cross country! Front desk lady, Jill, was lovely. Beds were comfortable. Breakfast wasn’t open on time, but if it’s just one person on staff 24 hrs, I don’t blame them.

The room was dirty, when I walked into the lobby it was very humid and hot. There was no water pressure in shower and took forever to heat up. My window leaked and the A/C unit was broke. I found another persons sock under the bed which means the rooms aren’t getting cleaned.

I just don't understand how in 2023 we still have hotel rooms that look like the bedding and paint are from 1970. Just a very below average hotel that is definitely not worth a $80/night. There was a dirty brown sock left behind the safe area so it wasn't in plain sight, but if anybody actually cleaned the room up after the prior stay they wouldn't have had to look too hard to see a sock and at the bare minimum pick the sock up and throw it away.

The room had long curly black pubic type hair all over it. I wonder if they actually washed the bed sheets? 3 of the pillows, under the covers and on the hair dryer were these pubic type hair not just one but clumps of it. Made me feel very uneasy. The bathroom needed a paint job.

Super 8 could do better than this.
While the room was clean, the maintenance was lacking, a tile coming up from the floor in the bathroom, cracking paint on the wall in the bathroom and black stains on one of the bedspreads. Breakfast was so-so. The sausage gravy needed to be heated up in the microwave after I put it on my biscuit!!

Hotel was showing its age, smelled badly of smoke in the no smoking room the ac unit in the room was not working even though it appeared to be.

We do our best to ensure that smokers do not smoke in our nonsmoking rooms or common areas, both of which result in a bad musty smell; and when a situation like this occurs, we try to address it immediately, thoroughly cleaning and disinfecting to restore the clean smell of our accommodations. Guest satisfaction is top priority at our hotel; for that reason, we truly appreciate your feedback about the guest experience at the hotel. We do not allow smoking in common areas at all and we will be implementing stricter measures in the future. Thank you.
The “free” breakfast was limited to a prepackaged muffin and stale coffee. The pool water was dirty and temperature was colder than expected. Could not shower in the room as there was a leak coming from the unit above and was leaking tile shards into the shower and all over the floor. The room was a designated non smoking room but the room smelled of stale cigarette smoke. I know this isn’t supposed to be fancy, but this hotel is at best half a star. The staff was unavailable most of the time and they overcharged me for a room that was supposed to be $97.59 with tax included. I wont be staying at this super 8 in Grinnell ever again.
