Pros: Friendliness of staff, cleanliness of facilities, the view. Wow! A full moon rising over the harbor, watched from a rocking chair on the porch.
Cons: The pillows: too soft. No firmer ones to be found. We had to wrap a couple of couch pillows we pilfered from the lobby.
Location: No drag races, no drive-in movies, no shopping malls--nice! Just lots of excellent quality restaurants and art galleries and stylish shops.
You get what you pay for, if you're lucky. We paid a lot, we got a lot, so we were lucky. It was a great experience. We'd do it again.

Very nice hotel. However we were put in a room off the main building. We were placed on second floor. That part of building had no elevator so had to DRAG our bags up the steps. We arrived later at night so one to help with bags.

Not worth it.

Posted Jun 29, 2015
Pros: location
Cons: Remodel and clean
Our room was in one of the "cottages" in the hotel compound, which includes the old hotel, newer "motel/hotel" sections and 4 "cottages" that look like restored older homes. The "cottage" we were in felt like an aging, has-been hotel room of an era long gone. The furniture was beaten up, carpet worn and terribly stained. The bathroom was dirty, torn vinyl flooring, dirty marked up old fiberglass tub. The bedding was clean, mattress comfortable, pillows the cheapest. The lobby of the hotel looks nicely remodeled. I don't know how the other rooms are. It would be worth knowing if the various sections differ. The location is good, within blocks of Main St., nice view of lighthouse. This is definitely not a 3 or 4 star hotel. I would look for a better B&B.

I would go again

Posted Jun 28, 2015
Pros: The front porch area was probably the highlight of this Hotel...great views over looking the Bay and lighthouse. The rocking chairs were a nice touch.
Cons: Lower the drink prices at the pool.....this isn't a luxury resort in the Turks & Caicos
Location: 7 minute walk to great restaurants, shops, marina, and some nice outdoor bands.
6/24/15-6/26/15....We thought the Harbor view was ok, but nothing great. The rooms seemed ok except for a couple concerns in the bathroom. The floor wasn't completely clean, and we were surprised to see that the bathroom had no exhaust fan. The check in was friendly and informative as was the check out. The pool was literally just opening the day we arrived after a long construction project, so we seemed to luck out. Some areas of the outside of the building seemed a little weathered, but I guess it's expected after a the long brutal Winter we had. The front porch area was probably the highlight of this Hotel...great views over looking the Bay and lighthouse. The rocking chairs were a nice touch. This Hotel was also close enough to the downtown are where it only took about 7 minutes to walk to the restaurants, shops, and dock, but far enough away where you had the privilege of some privacy. My biggest problem here was the drink prices at the pool....$20.00 that inc. tax + tip on the bill for a Strawberry Margarita / and frozen drinks is just an absolute insult to your guests. I understand your going to charge a little more, but to take advantage like that is pretty rude and a lack of respect for your guests.....To the owners: be grateful guests are choosing your hotel, and lay off on the greed.

Close to the beach

I was expecting more from this hotel. The pool was closed and undergoing renovations. The bathroom was small and the room itself was okay. Maybe the rooms in the main building are nicer.

Undisclosed construction and pool closure

Posted Jun 23, 2015
Everything was great except for the pool and patio closure, having to endure 8 hrs. of concrete cutting, circular saw and hammering noise. On top of that we couldn't use our balcony overlooking the pool because of the construction and the noise.

great location

Posted Jun 5, 2015
Pros: the look from the outside and inside. the way it melded into the landscape and community.
Cons: more parking spaces
Location: plenty of shopping and dining opportunities
we had a great room. just the right size for 2 people. a nice view of the harbor and close to the stairs. we were in easy walking distance of the town for shopping and dining. the hotel staff were friendly and very accommodating. we enjoyed dining in the restaurant for breakfast a couple of mornings, and the food was delicious every time with generous portions. the concierge was very helpful in suggesting outings for us and making arrangements for tours and dinner reservations.

Great hotel in a great town (Edgartown)

Posted May 28, 2015
Pros: Everything, it is a truly a traesure. The location is perfect, Edgartown is wondeful and of course the entire Island is a wonderful experience.
Cons: Nothing
Location: The hotel is a short walk from the commercial center of Edgartown and across the street from one of the many beaches. Edgartown is a beautiful town.
The staff was informed it was a special birthday for me and everyone from the concierge desk, the main desk, the maintenance and the restaurant staff treated me like royalty. The entire staff in the hotel addressed me by name and that made me feel at home. My room was beautiful and overlooked the water, it was bright, immaculate and beautifully appointed. I had breakfast at the hotel and it was prepared perfectly. I am looking forward to visiting The Harbor View Hotel again.
