Second choice for an after-graduation layover

Posted May 27, 2014 on Hotels.com
Family stayed at Foxwood Tower because no rooms were left in Providence, RI for graduation weekend. Rooms were nice & well maintained, but nothing else about this hotel and casino of which I can speak favorably. We were off to a bad start with: i) lack of signage causing us to circle the complex twice before finding our specific hotel in the complex, and ii) while awaiting check-in, I was propositioned by 2 ladies of the evening - with family near by. Despite reservation with late arrival noted on file, no rooms were available at our 11pm check-in because guests were "still checking out" (puzzling since check out time is 11am - except the obvious that they were selling rooms for short term use). Hotel's promise (at reservation 2 mo in advance) for non-smoking, contiguous rooms on same floor in 3 rooms including 1 for my 93 year old mother converted into a "preference if available" on check-in. We were accommodated in rooms at 1:20 am. I believe at least 1 room was non-smoking. Desk staff, including person identifying herself as duty manager was not so much rude as inclined to blame us for lack of rooms and for her singularly unhelpful, unsympathetic attitude. No apologies, no compensation - nothing. At breakfast the following morning, I had to show a photo ID to allow me to pay before entering the restaurant -- a practice I've never encountered anywhere in the world (and it had nothing to do with alcohol and minors).

unfortunately, I only stayed for one night. This hotel is immaculate, one of the nicest and cleanest I have stayed in.

Enjoyable evening

Room was very comfortable and clean and beautifully decorated. All of the staff very pleasant and helpful! We ate a good meal in the Italian restaurant in The Tower but the service was way below par and music was not appropriate for Italian rest.

The bathroom was extremely nice for a hotel bathroom. Very large shower and spa like, including top quality amenities. Our room was on a smoke free floor which was a good option after being in the smokey casinos. The hotel staff was friendly and accommodating. If you want to get away from the casino madness for an afternoon, drive down the road a short way to the town of Mystic. There are good restaurants and shopping at this little scenic village.
