“I have been to Maruba 6 times now. It is a world away from it all where you can deeply relax & heal.”
After 6 visits, I can offer an expert opinion: delicious gourmet food, total tranquility, incredible, exotic spa services; limited number of guests to ensure total privacy at all times; bring natural mosquito spray and accept that putting it on is part of life in the jungle and forget it; incredible array of outings, Mayan ruins, canoing, horseback, snorkeling if you like. My last stay was 10 nights with my wife. Deep, deep relaxation and disconnect from modern life and stress. Very healing. Did I mention very hot mineral bath--the waters here naturally contain tons of minerals, such as iron and others. Fresh flowers sprinkled throughout your room daily; birds of every variety; kind kind wonderful staff and owners. Incredible breakfasts, with black beans, eggs, homemade tortillas, freshly squeezed guava, lime, pineapple, papaya and more juices, homemade banana butter, herbal teas from the jungle such as organic lemongrass, lemon leaf, sour sap and a dazzling array of others, all natural, grown on premises, the resort is totally self-contained with its own garden. Remember the average salary in this country is a few dollars a day and then tip the incredibly kind employees 20% of your bills because they deserve to rise out of poverty and not be exploited by us tourists.
