Worst Western

Posted Apr 20, 2015
We traveled to LI so my daughter could participate in a kocal Karate tournement. Skeep fir her and my son was important, so we reserved a room for 4, with a roll a way bed. They informed us after we got there that they do not provide roll a way beds. The pull out couch was nothing but springs. When I asked to have the bed made up, they wouldnt. So I asked for at least a comforter to soften the springs. I got that, but had to ask for a blanket. We ended up putting the cushions from the couch and chair on top of the mattress and putting the comforter over that. There were only 3 towels in the bathroom, even though they new there were 4 of us staying in the room. They have a pool, which was grungy and had a dirty ring around it. The water fountain had so much rust around it I refused to let my kids have a drink. For breakfast, there was some sort of green mystery in with the scrambled eggs, so we didn't dare eat those. And they have a Belgin waffle maker. One. So standing in line was mandatory. And the desk staff gave me Freud because I had booked the room with expedia. Like we were some sort of low life. When we go back to the tournement next year, I will not be staying there. And I will never stay at a Worst Western again if I can help it. I travel quite often and have never had such a bad experience.

Beds made of granite

Posted Apr 16, 2015
Pros: The breakfast was free and had a good selection of items including make-your-own waffles.
Cons: Get some beds that weren't mined in a quarry.
Location: The location was close to a busy road, but our rooms were in back so the road noise was reduced. Be sure to go to Bigelow's Fried Clams close by.
The room was clean and up to date with plenty of storage space but little room to walk around. The bathroom seemed to be remodeled recently and was clean with a spacious bathtub/shower. HOWEVER, the beds seemed to be constructed of granite since they were rock hard. The only people who would find these beds comfortable would be those accustomed to sleeping on a sheet of cardboard on the sidewalk. I tossed and turned all night from the pain in my hips, back, shoulders and arms. I barely slept and wished the whole night long that morning would arrive. At one point, I peered over my wife to look at the alarm clock to see that it was ONLY 3:30 AM -- four more hours of agony ahead. I contemplated sleeping in the car since it would have been more comfortable, but it was too cold outside. I finally got up in the morning with excruciating back spasms that required analgesic to alleviate. Both my wife and my daughter were uncomfortable too, but they managed to get some rest since they went to bed exhausted from the day's travels. I too was exhausted at bedtime and remained so during the horrific night. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE IF YOU PLAN ON SLEEPING IN COMFORT.

Pros: Its all you could want in a place to stay.
Location: Beach, easy access to train. Lots to do nearby.
Love staying here. Always clean and comfortable. Not filled with riff raff like some other nearby places.

We really use this as a place to sleep, but it works and not just because it is close to my in-laws. It is clean and the rooms are nice. They have a small swimming pool and the kids enjoy that.

Pros: The friendly and courteous staff
Cons: Pool could be a little warmer
Location: TONS of stores, restaurants, movie theaters, etc. nearby. LIRR train station within walking distance.
The hotel is clean as are the rooms. The staff is VERY accommodating and went out of their way to honor a request that we had. The pool is clean and comfortable and the breakfast is adequate. Overall, a very nice place to stay with plenty of restaurants and stores nearby.
