Excellent hotel and location, absolutely loved it!Posted Nov 22, 2013
Location: 30km outside Barca right on Port with lovely beach 2 mins away. Train station about a 5 minute walk with trains regularly running into Barcelona.
Excellent place to stay with train station walking distance to get into Barcelona. Lovely hotel, rooms were perfect and being two couples we had rooms with adjoining doors which allowed us to almost turn 2 rooms into one when we wanted to share each others company! But also had our own privacy. Food in hotel restaurant was amazing and very reasonably priced! Staff all lovely! Outdoor pool which we used even in November and indoor pool/spa and gym all excellent! Brilliant all round!

November 2013 ReviewPosted Nov 18, 2013
We stayed at the Hotel Atenea Port Barcelona Mataro on Nov 2013 for a few days and thoroughly enjoyed it, having sea-view rooms overlooking a small harbour. The hotel is right by the beach and is in a lovely spot for walking either along the beach, around the harbour or the local area. The hotel rooms are fairly basic but really clean and in exceptionally good condition - with air conditioning, fridge, mini bar, balcony, safe etc - everything you need. The local area was a bit quiet as we were out of season but we still thoroughly enjoyed our trip and would definately recommend this hotel. The hotel is about 3 minutes walk from Mataro train station where you can easily get a train down into Barcelona which takes about 40 minutes and runs along the sea so is very pleasant. You can buy a single ticket or a T10 and T50 which are for 10 or 50 journies and you need to get one that covers 3 zones. We did get stung with the price of a taxi from the airport on arrival but got the train back to the airport at a quarter of the price. Now we know how close the hotel is to Mataro station, we will use this in future.

Everything you expect AND more!Posted Oct 29, 2013
Pros: Location just outside the city. Friendly and english speaking staff. Clean rooms with a good view of the port and beach.
Cons: Only on one day, no fresh towels were provided. Maybe include tea and coffee making facilities in the room.
Location: Brilliant train journey all along the coast from Central Barcelona. Rent a bike and cycle around Mataro, a sleepy town.
Nothing but good things to stay about the accomodation provided at the hotel. Being a first time visitor to Barcelona, from the minute we checked in to the minute we checked out, the stay was pleasant, the staff was friendly and the experience was one to remember. Being just outside Barcelona had it's upsides. After a hectic day with all the tourists and the crowd, it was enjoyable to come back to a peaceful location knowing that your room had been taken care of. The food at the restaurant was good too. If I visit again, I know where I'll be staying.

Great locationPosted Aug 30, 2013
Pros: The staff were very helpful.
Cons: Tea and coffee making facility perhaps. Transfers from Girona would also be useful.
Location: Close to the train station so easy access to other towns. The water park at Illa Fantasia is a great day out and just a few stops down the line.
8 days but wish it could have been longer. Staff were fab and the room comfortable with lovely views out over the marina.

Exellant view of the port and sea view front.Posted Aug 28, 2013
I stayed 4 nights with my wife and teenager kids. The hotel is fairly new and very clean.the staff were friendly. However the area itself is a quite place but a few cafe type restaurants mainly for food rather than a place for just drinks. The hotel is approximately 40 minutes by train from Barcelona its like going from a quiet village to the hustle and bustle of the city.so going back to the hotel after exploring the city was a relief from the noise and crowds of tourists.
