Brilliant B&B, perfect locationPosted Jul 16, 2014
Pros: Plenty of Character, used to be a pub. Great clean room. lovely owners, who helped out when ever possible.
Cons: bit more regulation on the heating if possible, heating doesn't need to be on at all around this time of year. but I'm fussy with heat!
Location: Cromford which is only a 15 min walk down hill from B&B has a few nice places to eat like Market Place. Matlock only £8 taxi away.
I booked the B&B for a surprise get away weekend for me and my wife, plus to celebrate her birthday. The drive up to the place is great, with beautiful windy roads covered with trees. As we approached the B&B my wife said how beautiful that place looked (not knowing it was where we would be staying). We were greeted by Julie, who owns the B&B with her husband, she was at the door accepting some massive sausages from her local butcher, which we had the next day (amazing breakfast by the way which set us up for the rest of the day!). The room we had was right at the top, it was a very large room, with En-Suite. it was clean, well kept and the bed was huge! had two good night sleeps, there was a small fan in the room, but (and this is only me) would have preferred a much larger fan, as it was technically in the roof, plus it was a very hot weekend, the room did get rather warm. But I would not rate the B&B down because of the weather! Breakfast the next day was super, great tasting food and perfect proportions, with plenty of toast and Tea / Coffee. Location wise it was great:- 15min walk down hill to Cromford, which is a small town with a few pubs and a few places to eat, we ate at the Market Place which was recommended to us by Julie, and it really was great food (3 courses each / bottle of wine and a few beers was about £70 which isn't cheap but for the quality / quantity I would gladly pay again.

Lovely B&B in BonsallPosted Jul 14, 2014
Pros: A clean and friendly environment.
Location: Great location for local villages and the local pub serves lovely food and drinks. There are also plenty of local walks of varying levels.
We had a lovely stay in the Pig of Lead in Bonsall, just outside of Matlock. The owner was friendly and helpful and the place was clean and full of character. The village itself is full of history and the Kings Head serves excellent food and drink. This is an ideal place for starting your walks over the Peak District, or just as a base camp for going further afield.

we received a lovely warm welcome on arrival. The room was clean and comfortable and although the room faced the main road it wasn't too noisy. It was an ideal location close to Matlock bath.

Good base for touring DerbyshirePosted Oct 15, 2013 on Hotels.com
A little difficult to find but well worth finding. We stayed for 3 nights, and Julie & John made us feel very comfortable. Nothing was too much trouble for them. We would stay again if we returned to the area

Very impressed with this place. Can't fault it in any way. Julie could not have been more welcoming and her breakfasts are just excellent.

recent stay at pig of leadPosted Jun 24, 2013 on Hotels.com
The B&B was lovely, very clean and cosy ( also lovely breakfast). the surrounding village was picturesque and had a lovely little pub with good food. Lots of areas of interest near by and things to do. The lady who owns the B&B was very welcoming and couldn't do enough to help. We will definitely be making a another visit, hopefully soon.

Pig of Lead - review June 2013Posted Jun 20, 2013
Pros: Location, comfort, friendly atmosphere
Excellent location for exploring the Peak District. Clean, comfortable, welcoming accommodation. Plenty of car parking space (can be a problem with many otherwise-good B'n B's). Several close-by eating options. Building itself is old (but done up with necessary modern conveniences), warm, full of charm. My wife and I (both late 60s) would happily return.
