I chose this hotel based on its close proximity to the Matsumoto train station. My wife and I had just completed the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route during the first half of the day, and Matsumoto was a pit stop for the night before continuing our journey to Tokyo the next day. Hotel was conveniently located within 3 minutes' walk from the station. There is plenty to do within walking distance of the hotel: Matsumoto castle (must see!), Timepiece Museum, Nawate street (a old-style historical street) next to the Metoba River. Room is reasonably sized, clean and well maintained. The only downside is that there is no heater in the room. There was a notice next to the aircon saying that outside air is channeled into the room during Spring and Autumn. As it was 5 degrees C outside that night, the room was chilly. So this hotel is very much a love-hate for us: we liked its location but thought it failed to provide that basic level of comfort. Perhaps hotel management can rethink this air conditioning policy such that it is based on outside temperature instead of the months of the calendar year.
