Not Worth the PricePosted Aug 9, 2014
Cons: exterminate the bugs, more appropriate rates
Location: across the street from the beach, walking distance from good restaurants
The best thing about the Maui Banyan is the location. It is across the street from the beach and walking distance from some good restaurants. The pool and jacuzzi are good but one of them was closed when we were there. Other than that, the hotel is fair. The hotel rooms are rather small. There were bugs in the room, crawling on the ceiling. I understand there are lots of bugs in Maui but I also stayed at the hotel directly next door and did not have this problem. I also had problems at the front desk as they booked us in a room that only had one bed even though I had specifically requested two. For the price, this hotel is not worth it. There are much better places to stay for about the same price or slightly more as well as places that are about the same for much cheaper

A home away from homePosted Jul 30, 2014
Pros: The friendly staff. The location: near the beach, restaurants, and shops.
Cons: The unit's furniture could use some updating, but that's not a deal breaker.
Location: As stated above, it is near good restaurants and shops. Get to the breakfast and dinner at the 808 Bistro. Moose MacGillicuddy's is quite good as well
Our stay at the Aston at Maui Banyan was wonderful. We felt so comfortable as it had all the things we needed. We were able to sleep peacefully without disruptions from fellow guests, we had comforts and conveniences such as a full kitchen with vital appliances, a washer and dryer, and daily maid service. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. The use of clean beach towels each day was a nice touch as the beach is just down the driveway and across the street. My husband and I felt safe here. The grounds were immaculate and the use of the two pools most appreciated. We'd definitely stay here again should we be fortunate enough to pay another visit to this beautiful island.

Great value , perfect locationPosted Jul 26, 2014
Nice condo with excellent location. Central to beaches, restaurants , highways. Staff is excellent. Although not the most beautiful rooms ever, who spends a lot of time indoors in Maui anyway ? Rooms were cleaned, well stocked, with daily housekeeping, which I wouldn't have expected from a condo rental. We have been coming here annually for about 6 years and wouldn't change it!

Great staffPosted Jul 20, 2014
When we were given our room - we went into the unit to discover that the toilet was leaking we contacted the front desk - who immediately moved us to another room and the maintenance staff was there to look at the toilet before we even moved our luggage. this was fantastic response time

Good valuePosted May 16, 2014
Pros: See above
Cons: If hotel is not totally occupied, place families with small children in rooms close to each other and away from rooms with a single person or couples.
Location: Close to beach, restaurants, gas stations, food markets, drug stores, bars.
Convenient parking. Close to beach and many eating places. Many soda machines and only $1 per soda. Cost was about $50 less per night than place I stayed last time. One negative--I could hear a bratty kid in the adjacent room. Staff was very pleasant and truly exhibited the "aloha spirit". Did not use pool or tennis courts.

Hotel was good just had problem to climb 3 flightsPosted May 15, 2014
Pros: Bedroom were good. Bathrooms had excellent showers with good water pressure and a little seat in them. Loved the size of the bathroom. Nice fan
Cons: TV guide in room, to operate the TV.
Location: Great location. In the center of everything. Loved location. Just did not take photos this was a health trip. My favorite beach right down the st
I just had a problem climbing 3 flights of steps being disable, bad knee joints. Wish they would of said something about that at booking the room other then that the stay was wonderful. Loved Sherry at the front desk. Loved the spa after the day at the beach. T.V was a little confusing. Needed guide so I could of watched my favorite shows from the Mainland. the local station was just awesome and informative. Enjoyed it much on Hawaii things to do. Just did not want to leave. Wish I had a11to 14 days, instead of 7. Beds were so nice to sleep in.

Aloha and Mahalo for taking the time to write about your recent stay with Aston at the Maui Banyan. Please accept our sincerest apologies for the discomfort the staircase caused. We only wish we had the opportunity to assist you while you were still here. About ¾ of our units are in buildings with an elevator or on the ground floor and had we been made aware of the circumstance we would have immediately moved to you another room. Although, we are very pleased to hear how much you enjoyed the room, property, staff, and amenities. We look forward to your next visit, which hopefully much longer. Mahalo Nui Loa and A Hui Hou

Outdated Hotel NOT on the BeachPosted Apr 29, 2014
Cons: Interior needs major overhaul, buildings, rooms, reception area feels cold and grimy
Hotel pics make you think "paradise on the beach", WRONG! This place is old, outdated and not on the beach. Public beach access, is a lengthy walk across the street, and is not nice- literally bummy. Town is dumpy, tacky billboard signs of 2nd rate stores and Denny's litter the skyline. Also, water was not light blue like pics would have you believe. I reserved a hotel room & was given a condo (which sounds like a good upgrade) that was far far away from the street (T-108). All appliances, furniture, furnishings, pictures, etc. outdated as well, reminiscent of the 70s.

Please except our sincerest apologies for not meeting your expectations. Each island is very diverse and even can be quite different in what it has to offer. It seems that Kihei, in general, was just not a good fit. We are, however, very pleased that our sister property in Waikiki was more to your satisfaction and to hear how much you enjoyed the rest of your vacation. Mahalo Nui Loa and Warmest Wishes
