Good hotel, near a nice beach, with snorkeling.

Pros: Good location
Cons: Interior decor.
Location: Whalers village and Lahaina are close by, with various restaurants and shops. Safeway is about 3 miles away, Costco and Wholefoods are about 27 miles.
Hotel is okay for the price, a little dated decor. I was surprised to see an old tube TV in the bedroom. Internet connection was limited to the living room, so I had to use my phone as a hotspot. Had full kitchen, which was nice when traveling with 3 kids. Sofabed is only suitable for little kids. Baby crib was making noise. No ventilation in the bathroom. Having washer and dryer in the room was also very convenient.

Not what I expected

My room 442 or 443 ? It wAs far away in the back near construction and parking lot. Totally took away from the feeling of being somewhere beautiful when everything else was nice. Our view overlook a dirty river thing. Constructions every where and I felt the corner room was a prison. Disappointing. It was my mom first time in Hawaii Maui and I really wanted to impress her. The remote control didn't work and I needed to get someone 2 twice to help me. It also was a play station remote that was confusing. ???? Movie was not working Housekeeping didn't clean our room both nights?? The attendant who took my call didn't take responsibility for the housekeeping deal instead she said Ohhh we thought you were going to switch rooms because you were not happy with it. I didn't go down stairs to make that change or confirm anything because my mom is 76 yrs old and I can't just keep moving her Assumption and no responsibilities. Disappointed. I love hawaii still but I would t come back. The concierge was excellent and taxi drivers. 2 girls at the front desk were awesome. Older lady at the restaurant was complaining about being the only one working and it was uncomfortable. We don't need to hear that. I work very hard at my job and came to relax and not hear complaining. Sorry for all of this but it was the truth. Loved Meagan at the concierge pool and the lady who did the orientation. They were great. Professional.

The hotel is really close to the beach! You can go snorkeling in the ocean and then swim in the pool after. Nice green area in the middle of hotel which is nice if you want to relax.

Affordable hotel, great location, great staff!

Pros: Friendly staff, great location, affordable restaurant, good hotel bar, affordable overall
Cons: Rooms were a little dank at first (I think maybe AC wasn't running), but they improved as we got into our stay
Location: Java Jazz- great breakfast and coffee Snorkel Bob's- rent snorkel equipment for the week Napili Beach- most beautiful beach in west maui
This is a great, affordable hotel for people who want to spend more money on dining and excursions and are looking for an adequate condo-type atmosphere, not the Ritz :) We booked with a air+hotel package deal and really got a great rate for the Aston Kaanapali Shores. The staff was very nice and upgraded both us and the other couple traveling with us. Both of our rooms were clean and though the furniture may not have been "in style," it was all perfectly comfortable and accommodating. Kitchens were fully stocked with flatware, cutlery, and pots and pans. The gardens on the property are extremely well maintained and very beautiful. Pool is awesome with a great view and good happy hour specials at the bar. Hotel restaurant is well above average. Close to several good restaurants (Java Jazz in particular is awesome) an okay supermarket across the street (safeway in Lahaina is better but Kings does in a pinch). A bit further north than the main Kaanapali resort area but you don't miss it. The beach right by the hotel is a bit rough and the tide comes right up to the resort at times, but honestly, there are way nicer beaches very close by. I wouldn't want to spend more than one day at any beach in Maui anyway- so many to see! You can go further north to Napili or Slaughterhouse beach or south towards Olowalu for more surfing, etc. You can walk to Whaler's Village for shopping. And downtown Lahaina is just a short drive away. There is no shortage of stuff to do! enjoy!
