Kaanapali Shores-

Posted Jun 26, 2015
Cons: Why charge hotel fee on top of the rate you charge- just add it into the price- this is annoying at many locations these days
The room was very comfortable and the kitchen was great to have and you can walk across the street to Times Market- I travel for business to the outer island this is a great location.

Best location near beach, clean comfort, car must

Posted Jun 20, 2015
Pros: Location, grounds, beach, attitude and attention to the guests. Offering options we guests may not even be aware about.
Cons: To the hotel - just be as good as you are.
Location: Come to the beach at 4am, listen the ocean, do yoga at sunrise, sip coffee at sunset, do jogging, snorkeling, be on/near the water as much as you can.
We (well-travelled couple) were exceptionally pleased by the hotel complex, grounds, service, cleanness, friendliness, and were fortunate with the weather (June 13-19). We did not ask but were offered an upgrade from a standard room to a studio with kitchen (what a difference it made!), did not asked but offered a complimentary hospitality suite for one hour to refresh ourselves with shower at 6 pm before heading to the airport. The hotel staff was welcoming and made us feel living in comfort. We explored island by all main routes - Aston Kaanapali Shores was definitely our lucky choice: long stretch of sandy beach; 4 ml to a tourist hub Lahaina (enjoyable to visit, to take an ocean tours but not to stay); about 4 ml to the north you will find a nice, semi-secluded sandy beach where on an occasion you may meet a celebrity (our apology to those who might be displeased by this disclosure); 45 min drive to Costo; not as windy as you may find out in Makena State Park beach; and, of course, the road to Hana (not Hana itself, about 3-1/2 – 4 hours drive one way) is incomparable – first time we saw the rain forest “eating” into a narrow serpentine road with picturesque one-car bridges (roller coasting is not advised). Enjoy it !!

Enjoyed our time here

Posted Jun 19, 2015
Pros: It is very pretty and the staff was very helpful.
Cons: Maybe put locations of laundry facilities in the welcome book (book says to call housekeeping).
Location: Near pretty much everything. Maui is a small island and very easy to get around.
Staff was very friendly, rooms were very nice. We did have to call one day because our room was missed by the cleaning team (or they were very late). The room was never vacumned in the week that we were there, and as we called one day to have someone come up to clean the room, we didn't bother to call again. The floor got a bit sandy from the beach! Other than that, our stay was very nice! I would go there again.

Relaxing and close to beach.

Posted May 30, 2015
Pros: Room was very comfortable and close to markets and restaurants and a wonderful view of ocean. Restaurant staff was very kind and nice.
Cons: check in and out times could be more flex able and more additions to the dinner menu.
Location: Basic needs are close by but if you would like tours and attractions you will need transportation and funds.
Close to the beach very relaxing environment and good food at hotel and elsewhere.

Enjoying the simple things

Posted May 19, 2015
Pros: Unlimited free movie rentals from the hotel kiosk. Friendly staff, layout of building, garage parking.
Cons: There are 3 BBQ's wedged between tennis courts and parking garage. Not exactly a great venue to gather and enjoy a meal.
Location: A car is a must. Drive south 5-10 m to Whalers village for the best beach around at Kaannapali. Lahaina is close. Kappalua ocean trail is north.
A great intimate atmosphere with a more relaxed and friendly vibe than the big resorts with all their bells and whistles. Guests are friendlier, more engaging and seem to just be happy to be on vacation. Anchored by a garden pool between both buildings, all rooms are positioned for some type of water view. We were expecting to face inland. The only downside is a narrow beach that catches lots of wind at all times while we were there. A short walk south and you come to other beaches that seem to have a little more shelter. If you're a runner, there is a great 5k run south toward Black Rock.

Great hotel with ocean views and beautiful grounds

Posted May 18, 2015
Pros: Great view, pool and restaurant. Easy drive to all and loved that there was grocery store within walking distance.
Cons: Would have liked the coffee hut open. But understand that it is a slow time.
Location: Zip lining was the best.
Needed a two bedroom room/condo for my adult son and I as we were attending my niece's wedding. Perfect choice. The grounds were immaculate and made for nice walking in the morning. Hotel stores carried just about everything. Staff at the restaurant were exceptionally nice and service was terrific.

Dated facilities

Posted Apr 28, 2015
Rooms were very dated, old carpets, furniture, lighting. Had repainted and updated kitchen and bath partially. Online pics are not current, they have no real usable beach left after erosion. Business area for printing boarding passes, internet use was closed, "under renovation", yet saw no work being done in 10 days we were there.

Good Priced Hotel on the beach

Posted Apr 23, 2015
The hotel staff was very nice and very helpful. The restaurant and store staff was not as welcoming or helpful. The hotel lobby and outside is very nice and clean and welcoming. The rooms just seem as if they need a lot of updating. Everything is old and stained. Especially the carpet. However I did see some people painting and working on a couple of rooms so they may be in the process of remodeling rooms. Overall my stay was great. Big room with a comfortable king size bed with a beautiful view of the ocean. I would recommend this hotel especially if you're not looking to spend a lot of money on a hotel room, but still have a lot of the same amenities as the expensive hotels have.
