One night's stay

Posted Jan 25, 2015
Cons: Unsure if the hotel could relocate the bedrooms so that they share the wall with the outer wall or walkway.
Location: It was near Ka'anapali which has lots of things to do!
We were grateful this hotel was willing to accommodate us or one day. We were pleasantly surprised it was a very large suite with a good size kitchen and table for dining. It was comfortable and staff very friendly. However, all the bedrooms faced the pathway to the room so that when other guests came in late and chatted it could be heard from the bedroom. We didn't think that was a very good arrangement of the rooms. While clean the hotel was old and there were cracks in the bathtub, etc. We did not use any of the other amenities as we only stayed on night. We did appreciate a late check out time of noon. That was very helpful as we could not check into our next hotel until 4pm.

Great location and concept but the place needs major upgrading and updating to keep up with other places on Maui. Overall showing it's age but the staff are excellent.

Aston Kanapali Shores

Posted Jan 23, 2015
Pros: On the beach
Cons: UPGRADE THE ROOMS.
Location: It is near shopping.
My wife and I stayed for 13 nights in January/15.Our room,621,has a great view of the ocean and the pool facilities. The room is dated and really needs an uplift. The TV only has basic cable,at $300 a night that is a nono. The condos are individually owned and it is up to them how they keep them up.621s owner is just taking the cash and spending basic on his investment. The sun comes into the room at 1pm.you have to close the curtains or you would fry,the AC could not keep up.There are lots of children in the complex so ask for a high floor when reserving.

Good location- not a good Expedia VIP member-

Posted Jan 20, 2015
Pros: Massage on the beach. Clean rooms
Cons: Quality coffee in the room, room service, coordination with Expedia about room types and clear explanations on the website prior to booking. Staff
Location: The hotel is in a good location, we enjoyed Lahaina - the shopping and restaurants and Lahaina Divers for diving and snorkeling
I am an Expedia gold member and I did not receive any special accomadations from this hotel. We were not able to check in until 3:00, and when I asked for a late check out they also said no. They did let us use a room for an hour in the afternoon to shower after a day of snorkeling before going to the airport. I had booked a standard room with a view, and the hotel said that the "view" was of the parking lot on all standard rooms so I an bot sure what I paid for. They did "upgrade" me to a garden view room, but for what I paid, I was expecting a view of the water. When we arrived, were were disturbed by maintenance and/or housekeeping at least three times, and when we asked what they wanted, they kept saying "is everything ok" so we finally put the do not disturb sign on the door. The fitness center in the hotel has massages, and I got the traditional Hawaiian massage on the beach and it was really great except for the cigarette smoke blowing into the cabana. As a non-smoking resort, they really should regulate that more. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The kitchen was also clean and updated. The coffee in the room is terrible, so don't waste your time making a pot of coffee. The breakfast in the restaurant was not great- eat elsewhere. There is a happy hour in the afternoon with discounted drinks and snacks. For couples, given the location of the hotel, you can't watch the sunrise or sunset.

Great hotel right on the beach

Great hotel with everything we needed. Two swimming pools and two hot tubs plus beach access. Staff was very friendly. We were upgraded to a studio from a standard room without even asking. Very clean and suited our needs. We will stay there again when we return.

Great room. Light switches did not control lights in all rooms and we had to reach to the lamp manually. The beach is almost find in this location and has a lot of rocks. Several places around the pool had some loose flag stones and needed to be glued with mortar. Staff was friendly but the amount deposited according to Expedia "appears " to not coincide with what the hotel claims to have debited prior to our stay. Other than all of the above, the place is great and we have come two years in a row. You will also enjoy it.
