Great views of the beach!

Posted Dec 15, 2014
This was our first time on Maui. I highly recommend staying in the Kaanapali Beach area. Even though this hotel is right on the beach, you really can't swim there. But you only have to walk about 150 yards in either direction. The water is so clear that we could see sea turtles swimming under the waters surface from our 7th floor lanai. Be sure to take the short walk to Duke's Beach House. The food there is the best!

아주 만족 스러운 호텔입니다.

Posted Dec 2, 2014
Pros: 호텔의 청결함과 위치가 좋습니다. 마우이 서쪽의 라이하나 지역과도 가깝고 조용하고 아름다운 해변이 바로 앞에 있습니다.
Cons: 호텔내에 레스토랑이 있으면 좋겠습니다.
Location: Laihana

Nice resort but also undergoing renovations

Posted Dec 1, 2014
Pros: Good grounds, nice kitchen, view from the room, decent snorkeling off the shore.
Cons: The renovations need to be completed. At this writing (11/30/14), they appear to be about half way through and have been in progress since March 2014.
Location: Snorkeling off the shore. Proximity to Lahaina. Duke's restaurant just south of the Aston is very good.
Very nice resort and grounds. However, when we arrived, we asked if there was any construction going on and were told 'no'. It turns out that the entire resort has been undergoing external renovations since March 2014 (we went in November). Our second-floor room's lanai had plywood extending out, covering the lattice porch below, as well as a window washer-style man lift parked on it. The next day, we had workers right outside our lanai followed by drilling into the side of the building. After bringing this to the front desk's attention, we were quickly moved to a section of the resort where renovations had been completed, and were placed on a higher floor (9th). After relocating, the stay was much better. The condo was mostly clean with a good kitchen. The view from the West windows is awesome. We saw turtles coming within 25 feet of shore on a daily basis. Good, clean BBQ grills in the pool area (which we made use of).

The hotel had an excellent view of the ocean.

Posted Nov 20, 2014
Pros: The room.
Cons: Should've been told about the construction before getting there. And the desk staff needs to be educated on other travel options other than cabs.
Location: Excellent location. Best part was the Trip to Hana. Very educational and beautiful. The old Lahaina Luau was very boring.
The view was excellent. The room was clean and spacious with a lovely kitchen. The only drawbacks were that the pool was very small. And the staff at the desk was not helpful when we were trying to figure out transportation. When we inquired how to get to the hotel from the airport, the only option they gave us was getting a cab. It cost us over $100 for the ride. Later, when we wanted to go shopping, again they told us they could call us a cab. When we inquired about any shuttles or buses, they told us that none of them stopped at this hotel. Another person staying there overheard our conversation and told us about the bus line and where we could get on it and that it only cost $4 for an all day pass. Then later we found out about the shuttle that is free and stops at another hotel that's really close. We were angry at all the money we spent on cabs the first couple days. Could've rented a car for a week on the cab money we spent. Also, the hotel was being refurbished and there were jackhammers and pounding going on during the day on the outside of the building, removing the cement on the building before they replaced it. It was very loud. No napping during the day. We spent most of our days at the hotel pool next door.

Closest to the ocean

Posted Nov 16, 2014
Pros: We take a daily walk on the beach boardwalk so we get to see a bunch of resorts and the Mahana is hands down the closest to the beach.
Cons: Better notification that the construction was going on, I can see that some people would have been livid about it.
Location: Kaanapali is well situated on the NW side of Maui, 5 miles north of Lahaina we like to have a rental car to visit other parts of the island.
Check in was fast and efficient. Suite was very nicely decorated, very clean. Noticed that there was an ongoing construction project near our room. Lanai was spacious, had comfortable chairs and a table to eat at. The view is truly a million dollar one. After one day we were contacted that the construction was moving in front of our unit and that we could chose to move to another unit. The first they offered was not a well furnished as the original so we asked for another choice, which they were able to accommodate. The move was rewarded with a 7 hour late check out which was great because our return flight did not leave until 10PM and other times we have had to kill most of a day hanging out on a pool deck. Housekeeping everyday was a pleasant surprise, fresh towels, vacuumed carpets and tidy showers made the day.

Excellent place to stay.

Posted Oct 26, 2014
This is our 4th time staying at the Mahana. It is comfortable, clean and on the best beach in Maui. Walking distance to the store, restaurants, massage and souvenir shops. The oceanfront condos are amazing and have the most gorgeous views of the ocean, Lanai and Molokai. Will stay there again next time.

Incredible value

Posted Oct 7, 2014
We were lucky enough to stay in one of the Newly renovated rooms so the bathroom and kitchen were top notch. Maui is incredible and for what we paid it was an incredible value. Location is perfect, snorkeling and dukes made our trip. With that said there was some renovations going on and the ropes and scalfalding were an eye sore. Also it was billed as a honeymoon location, I only saw six people under the age of 50.

Awesome hotel on a beach & near Lahaina.

Posted Oct 4, 2014
Pros: The location & views from our balcony of the ocean, & two other islands and the staff.
Cons: They were undergoing exterior repairs to the buildings upon our arrival on 9-25-14 and once completed, they will really look nice.
Location: Visited area at Kaanapali Shores, D. T. Fleming Beach & Kapula Beach all within 15 min. from Mahana. Great snorkeling, food & shopping in Lahaina.
This was our 6th stay at the Aston Mahana at Kaanapali. We married in Maui and stayed at this condo several years ago. It has all amenities we enjoy, a friendly & knowledgeable staff, great pool area & extremely close to the beach, and near a walkway with a great dining place named Duke's beach restaurant w/breakfast, lunch & dinner with fabulous food & outdoor dining. We will be back for sure!!
