Special Check-In Instructions

The front desk is open from 7 AM until 11 PM (subject to change). Guests who require assistance outside these hours may use the telephone in the hallway behind the lobby, which connects to the front desk at the adjacent Aston at Papakea Resort.
A code will be given to the lock box next to the phone, where guests can find their room key. Guests may check-in in person the following day.
Effective January 1, 2012 the parking fee will decrease from $8 to $6 per day.

5th Night Free

Book a minimum 5-night stay January 3 - December 20, 2012 and January 3 - March 31, 2013 for travel during the same period, and receive every 5th night fee.

Camp Kaanapali is offered to children ages 5 – 12. Camp activities include a variety of Hawaiian cultural and outdoor-based activities such as hula dancing, ukulele lessons, beach exploration, lei making, sand art, kite making/flying, swimming, scavenger hunts, games, arts, and crafts. Both day and evening sessions are available. One-time registration fee of $10 per child includes a t-shirt. Daily rate of $25 per child includes meals. Registration must be made 24 hours in advance upon arrival at the resort. Registration is held daily at 8 AM at the Camp Kaanapali Center in room 135. Camp Kaanapali hours are Monday – Friday (with the exception of major holidays), 8 AM – 2 PM. Friday evening sessions are 5 PM – 9 PM and include dinner. Space is limited to 16 participants per session. Children who are ill may not attend.

Note: Camp Kaanapali is located at the Aston Kaanapali Shores and is available to registered guests of all Aston properties on Maui.

Four miles south, Kaanapali Beach hosts ocean activities such as scuba diving, snorkeling, windsurfing, catamaran cruising, and kayaking (surcharges). “Great location and service”

“Wish I was there”

The first room we got wasn't very good. The mattress was awful, the kitchen out of date and the room needed AC because there was no way a breeze could get in. I asked if there was an upgrade available. For an extra $50 a night we stayed the rest of the week in a fantastic room. Recently remodeled with an all custom kitchen. It was a 2 bedroom with 2 ocean front balconies. The furniture was artwork. My wife and I loved it. Each unit is individually owned so it's a roll of the dice when it comes to the interior.

Area recommendations

Lahaina because of the wide array of activities and mix of historic and modern comforts.

“Pleasantly surprised”

Make this booking with the intention of saving money while attending a sporting event that was based at the Kapalua Ritz Carlton. My only requirements were that it had to have free high-speed internet - which this place had. Aside from this, I had very low expectations but for the money, this place is terrific. I booked a 1 bedroom but was pleasantly surprised to find that my room was a two bedroom - which worked out because my roommate was all set to sleep on the pullout. Having a full kitchen plus a washer/dryer in the room was just fantastic. The place didn't have a flat screen, and the TV had some minor problems on the screen but it was tolerable. There are a few eateries within walking distance and a park right next to it - perfect for a family. I would definitely stay here again.

“Paradise at your finger tips....”

From the time we walked through the doors until we left we felt like we were treated like royalty. The staff was so kind and helpful. The hotel was clean, quite and had everything you needed right there. It was close to everything you needed, dining, shopping, the ocean, ect. The condos are clean, quite and well stocked for a long stay. It was amazing to have house keeping daily if needed. The room in the condo was great for the 4 of us that stayed there with two bedrooms and full size baths, a full kitchen and washer and dryer. We will come back for sure. Thank you for an amazing first time in Maui..

Area recommendations

I would reccommend staying where we did it was quite and nice, not commercialized like several of the other facilities down the street.

When to go

Get the book 101 things to do in Maui or ask the locals or those that travel there they will send you to the most amazing places.

Getting around

be sure to rent a car it will help get around and you will not pay and arm and leg getting to and from the hotel via shuttle

What to pack

Dont over pack, you will spend most of your time in swim attire. Maybe a nice outfit for dinner and no need to pack warm clothes. If does rain but it is more of a mist and lasts only a few seonds. If you plan to sufe bring a rash guard and snorkle gear.

Shopping

Check out whalers village. There is tons of shopping but many of the store are similar with several hawaiian items.

Events and shows

Snorkeling was amazing just be sure to take medication before you get on the boat if you get sea sick. Luau is a must. Aqarium was not a good as I thought it was. The guys we were with loved the surfing and parasaling Relaxing with a nice book was pleasurable as well.

Other

Be careful of all of the vendors that will try to get you to go to their presentations to get a deal on excursions. Also bring your own shopping bags you may get charged at the store for them and the prices of things are a bit more so dont be alarmed.

“Bugs!”

We own a timeshare at Sands of Kahana, which is very clean and well-kept. We got the room at Paki Maui for the second week of our stay. Upon arrival our room wasn't ready, housekeeping staff was rude. The kitchen was infested with tiny gnat-like flying bugs. After repeated requests, someone finally showed up with a can of raid...and they were back the next day. Front desk staff argumentative. Grounds are nice, pool ok but not great, oceanfront view is awesome. You have to pay for parking (really???) which is ridiculous. I would NEVER stay here again.

“great location on beach”

The location of this condo was great for snorkeling, It is convenient walking distance to the grocery and fish market. The unit was smaller and less equipped than I expected but it did have a great view. It was oceanfront so we got to watch the spectacular sunsets.

“Excellent value and adequate accomodation.”

This is our third trip to Maui in 5 years and stayed in Kihei and Kanaapali. We like the Kanaapali side better because we feel that the beaches are nicer and cleaner. We also didn't want to spent a lot of money for a hotel/condo because we only use it to sleep at night. Who would go to Hawaii and stay in the hotel or condo,,, definitely not us. We were happy with Aston Paki Maui even though the rooms didn't have air conditioning. We stayed in a two-bedroom condo with a partial ocean view because our 20-year old son was with us. We were on the third floor and got a constant sea breeze at night. I slept with the bed sheets on because it got cold sometimes. We also did not see any cockroaches in the rooms which is a sign that the condo is clean especially not having an air conditioner. The condo is right next to a park, close to stores, farmers market and activities at nearby Kanaapali and Lahaina resorts. We were happy with our stay and definitely will use the condo again. Try to stay on the upper floors if you can so you can leave your windows and lanai doors open at night. We did talk to some people at the hotel who were on the first floor and complained about their rooms being too hot. Overall, a 4-star for value, location, cleanliness and service.

Area recommendations

Kapalua is close to Kanaapali and Lahaina, the major destinations at West Maui. Aston Paki Maui is close to state parks, stores, restaurants, activities and beaches. The condo is ocean front but it does not have a large beach area even though it is adjacent to a park so we had to either walk or drive to other beaches. We took the Molokai day trip because we have not visited the island before. Even though it was a little pricey, it was worth it and will try to stay in Molokai for an extended visit next time. We love the Molokai locals and our driver Rudy was very nice. He has lived on the island his entire life and only left a couple of times to visit his son serving the military. My wife and I went with our 20-year old son and we did surfing, paddle boarding, parasailng, snorkeling and just hang out on the beach. We did not go to any luau this time because we have been going every time we visited Hawaii. However, If you have never been to one, we recommend you do at least to experience the Aloha spirit. We love Hawaii and we will definitely visit again next year. We feel safe there compared to other warm countries and the people are very hospitable and nice. They do love to talk to tourists/island guests. This is the time to visit Hawaii because of the economy. We found a lot of good deals and local vendors are willing to deal.

Getting around

We always get a a rental car. Even though public transportation (bus) is available where we stayed, we didn't want to wait for the bus and wanted to use our time either hanging out on the beach and exploring new places. Maui has a lot of things to offer for outdoor activities, shopping and others. If you want to get away from traffic or the crowd, you don't have to drive far away to do that.,

What to pack

Pack lightly and bring mostly shorts, shirts, swim wear and sandals. If you don't have any, there are plenty to choose from here. My family bought extra swim wears, shirts and shorts. The Hawaiian prints are just not available in the mainland.

Outdoors or beach

In addition to Kanaapali Beach we went to other public beaches north of Kapaula, I would suggest looking at a map and just drive, explore and see the different beaches for yourself. There are excellent places where you can snorkel and not have to spend a lot of money paying for a guided boat tour. The Honolua Bay, norht of Kapalua is a place to snorkel. It is about 10-minute drive from where we stayed and a steep hike to the beach. However, once there it is worth it. We noticed several tour boats and we did not have to pay for the trip. The public beaches also have different feel to it. Dig Me Beach is in the heart of Kanaapalai and has a touristy feel. Onolea Beach and D.T. Fleming Beach are mostly used by the locals but we enjoyed it also. People are very friendly and hospitable seemed (relaxed and had smile on their faces).
