Beautiful Hotel

Posted Apr 22, 2014
Pros: The room was very spaciouis and family friendly.
Cons: Would have been nice to have had another restuarant and open the restaurant during happy hour.
Location: There was lots of water activties to particpate in.
The hotel location was beautiful. The pools were designed well for relaxtion and family fun. The restaurant was excellent, right on the beach and perfect for families children to play close by while in the sight of the parents.

Great property - staff not so happy to be there

Posted Apr 20, 2014
Pros: Location and grounds
Cons: HR I'm thinking - perhaps a Dale Carnegie course would help
Location: Lots in both directions
We had a good time. Great room and resort... very quiet. The staff seemed a bit bored and the old guy at the pool-shack was an outright jerk. Would go back but with our own towels.

Great Condo/Hotel - not so great for couples

Posted Apr 17, 2014
Pros: In room amenities
Cons: Adults only pool, not just the little "quiet" section. Kids either can't read or don't read the sign.
Location: Lots of beaches, shops and other hotels to walk to.
Overall very pleased with this condo/hotel. Probably the best advantage to staying here was in the in room kitchen complete with very nice appliances (Dishwasher, Oven, Full Sized Refrigerator, Microwave). The washer and dryer in the the unit allowed us to pack less clothes then we normally would have. The facility was beautiful, the rooms were clean and a nice size. We stayed in a Ocean View Studio, I would not suggest paying the extra price to upgrade to a Ocean View however. The building in shaped like a horseshoe, so every room in the inner courtyard of the horseshoe will be considered a Ocean View. While we did have a view of the ocean, we were in the back corner of the horseshoe and had a view of every other Ocean View room as well. Also the noise from the courtyard and the pool inside the horseshoe echos and is amplified dramatically which makes the inner rooms very loud during the day. The biggest disappointment with this hotel was that it was not quiet at all, there were kids everywhere! I'm not sure this was due to the timing of spring break but at times it was so loud from the kids at the pool we had to close our balcony up while we were in the room. This hotel desperately needs an adults only pool area. There are 3 pools and all of them and all the hot tubs were taken over by kids. The hotel also sells large inflatable pool toys so the pools and hot tubs were full of kids with these pools toys. We found ourselves dodging kids more then relaxing!

Nice resort, beautiful location!

Posted Apr 14, 2014
Pros: The rooms were amazing! Very spacious, clean, nice beds, large bathrooms, equipped kitchen, amazing beach view.
Cons: The food options were scarce. The market was ok, but would have liked to see more ready made breakfast options and cold sandwiches. Add snack shack
Honua Kai is a very nice resort. Perfect for families. The grounds were well kept, the pool options were nice, and the rooms were amazing. I would have liked to see more food options. Room service only from the market and the choices were few. At a luxury resort and for the price, I expected more. Duke's was ok, but over priced and they didn't deliver room service either. Only 2 choices for delivery: pizza or Chinese. Other than the food options, the resort was beautiful. I liked the location as it was close to Lahaina and Whaler's Village, but still felt a secluded. Beautiful resort and accommodations. Our kids loved the pools. We got late check out and had to pay $175 for an additional 3 hours which I thought was very expensive.

We enjoyed our stay here. The amenities were perfect. Short walk past pool to beach. Grounds are beautifully manicured and clean. Kimmie at consierge desk was great and helped us with all out activities. Room was equipped with kitchen. Highly recommended.
