Great facility and locationPosted Oct 18, 2014
Loved the layout of the resort and suite. Enjoyed being between Kapalua and Kaanapali/Lahaina. Close to great snorkeling and other activities. Many dining choices and grocery stores in close proximity. The only thing that came up a bit short of expectation was the staff. Not as polished and lacked general customer service that would be congruent with a property like this. Have been to Hawaii many times and this was the only time that the service at a high end resort lacked "aloha".

Pleasant escape!Posted Oct 14, 2014
Pros: The hotel is very clean and conveniently located in Kaanapali near the famous Lahaina "Whaler" district. Spacious suites, balconies & full kitchens.
Cons: Only one restaurant (Dukes) on the grounds, but they are in progress of building another. Lot's of young families, but there is a quiet adult pool.
Location: Great location...conveniently located in Kaanapali near the famous Lahaina "Whaler" district. Lots of great eating and shopping within 15 minutes.
My wife and I escaped for the long weekend to get away from the hustle and bustle of Oahu. This was our first stay at the Honua Kai and it did not disappoint. Check-in time was 4:00pm, but the room was ready at 3:00pm. There is an additional $39.00 grounds fee that you will be charged per day that was not advertised, but expected as is pretty much the norm in Hawaii. The hotel is very clean and spacious. Not much of a beach at the hotel, but there is a lazy river and a couple nice pools with hot tubs. The restaurant, "Dukes" is nice, but extremely busy (be prepared to wait up to an hour) and spend at least $100 for two.

Super Fun ResortPosted Oct 12, 2014
We only checked in for one night, but we wish we could have stayed longer. Master suites on either side of the 2 bedroom condo provided comfort and privacy. It was equipped with a full kitchen and laundry services, cohesive with a longer stay. Would recommend to all my friends!

Maybe my expectations were too high.Posted Oct 5, 2014
Really pretty lobby, beautiful grounds, good massage (but super expensive), nice pools, great beach access, cool that there's a Duke's... those are the positives. The service was only ok, though. We had to pay a daily fee for a crib and pack n play for our children. I feel that should have been included. The dryer was broken in our room and 3-4 different visits were required before it was fixed. There was no room service. The housekeeping only came every other day - overflowing trash by day two when there's a kitchen and two children. Some of the rooms are privately owned and privately rented, so I question the value of booking through the hotel (which we did). You had to rent chairs and umbrellas if you wanted them on the beach. I think that should have been included. I paid extra for mountain view over resort view and basically had a view of the parking lot with mountains in the distance. For a four star resort, I just wasn't impressed.

Great hotel for familiesPosted Oct 1, 2014
Pros: Pools, rooms had full kitchen and washer/dryer stocked with all the basics you needed
Cons: The bed was so-so comfort-wise. No cleaning service until your 4th day there, which didn't help us since we checked out on the 4th day.
Beautiful resort with 3 different pools, including waterslide.

Worth the stay!Posted Sep 28, 2014
Pros: View, rooms are great, and food at Dukes!
Cons: Housekeeping with trash, coffee more frequent.
Location: Excellent location. Cars are easy to use at location. walk on the boardwalk is great. right on the beach! Pool is excellent. family friendly!
At first, we didn't like our room, but Kyle (MOD) was very very helpful and upgraded us to a 2bd, 2b suite with ocean view. This made the Trip! We would never have spent as much time at the facility or at Duke's (restaurant) if we didn't have a better room location. This made the difference for an excellent stay. Food at Duke's is very good and reasonable expense. We ate there 5 of the 7 nights and had lunches and snacks too. Conceirge was informative. We took a glass bottom boat ride and deep sea fishing charter (no fish for 6 hrs though :( The only negative, and i know this is nickpicking, is the over zealousness of the staff trying to put a wristband on you. I'm not sure how prealent it is for other people not staying at the hotel to use the pool (which is amazing!), but it was a tad of a nuisance. Overall, you will be happy with your stay, service, and condition of this hotel. Mahalo. scott & suzanne, Denver
