Perfect family friendly hotel on the beachPosted Dec 14, 2014
We found Honua Kai because we were looking for a hotel that would accommodate 5 family members. We have young children so the option of a full kitchen was important and separate beds and baths too. The hotel was perfect in terms of comfort and privacy and everything that we needed for our family to be comfortable. Upon arrival we did notice some areas that were a little shabby, like dings in the walls and elevators, and stains in the carpet, but once we arrived in our room we were very impressed. There were high end appliances, updated baths, electronics, and the beautiful open nana wall to the outdoor balcony where we spent quite a bit of time. It was also extremely quiet at night, we never heard a door slam or anyone talking in the rooms next to us which spoke highly of the quality of construction. The pools were fantastic and were the highlight for the kids. The staff while friendly were a little more stand offish for a 5 star resort. Duke's was a nice restaurant on-site, but it would have been nice to have one more option since there weren't a ton of other restaurants within walking distance of the hotel. With all of that said, we were very impressed and would absolutely come back again with our family.

Best condominium everPosted Dec 7, 2014
Pros: Large living room, full size kitchen, big balcony. Room size is way bigger than normal resort hotel.
Location: You can swim with lots of sea turtles. Ocean wind makes mist at the mountain side then beautiful rainbow appear every day.
I had free upgdade by +VIP benefit. It was obviously best room I have ever stayed. Full size kitchen was very useful. All the equipment was totally clean, there were enough pots, pans and tablewares for 4 people. Even though this hotel doesn't have enough restaurant and shops, we enjoyed cooking in the room. Pools were nicely heated and 5 jacuzzis were so comfortable. Perfect beach access, beautiful ocean, etc... It was great experience.

Perfect for what we neededPosted Dec 7, 2014
Our family decided to gather in Maui for a vacation. We choose honua Kai to stay at because of the amenities and full kitchen. Since we have small children, this was a must. The grounds are great. The convenience of having Duke's restaurant on the property is a plus. In addition to having the ability to eat in or grill out. We loved it.

Nice stayPosted Dec 1, 2014
Nice stay. This is our third time staying. When it first opened, stuff was nice and quality of products provided was exceptional. Now good rooms are sold to timeshares. Older building is not as nice. Shampoo quality is bad, bring your own. Receptionists are not doing a good job. I had to ask for garage access, they didn’t attach it to room key as they were supposed to. Small stuff, but when you pay a lot of money you expect great service. Location is good, shopping center nearby and walking distance to food store. Beach has high waves

Do not book the ocean view studioPosted Nov 28, 2014
We paid a lot of money to get a nice ocean view room. Our room had a balcony corner from where the ocean was visible. We were given a resort view room. Then we made an effort to switch to a better room but no studio rooms had any ocean view. Not worth the money to get the view. The staff was grumpy too. They never cared to find out what we wanted. The resort itself was pretty good and kid friendly. So we had a good time otherwise.
