Unhelpful and disrespectful staffPosted Mar 5, 2014
Pros: Location and room size.
Cons: Staff and service to be called a resort. Cleanness should be improved, both inside the apartments, as well as the common areas (especially pools).
Location: Only a couple of miles south it is possible to get to Lahaina downtown (Front St.) where there are restaurants, shops, grocery stores.
The hotel is well located - couple of miles to Front St., where there are restaurants and shops. However, finding the hotel is not easy, as there is no indication for the hotel getting in, as well as to find the correct tower. The resort is not actually a resort - it's an apartment condo with little to no service. There are 2 towers of apartments, but only one restaurant within property. Additionally, the room service everyday is limited to towel changes and trash rendering without any cleaning services. Pools weren't clean (even bad smell in some parts) and towels were dirty. We (my wife and I) have already traveled a lot and never found such unhelpful and disrespectful staff. They never were willing to help and definitely don't show any respect - the morning we were scheduled to checkout they decided to change all door locks without any upfront notice and, when they nocked on our door and we asked them to come back later since we we're finishing to pack, they forced themselves against me and talked showing no respect at all. Even with me requesting additional 15 minutes to finish packing and leaving the room, the hotel staff ignored my request and started the replacement of locks with us trying to get things out of the room. After gathering all our things, we asked for the hotel manager in order to file a complain about the change of locks without notice, but mainly regarding the lack of respect of staff, but the manager never showed up. Would not go back or recommend.

Great vacation resort with excellent amenitiesPosted Feb 22, 2014
Pros: The full kitchen and laundry facilities in every room.
Location: The front desk will help arrange various day trips including dinner cruises, whale watching, snorkeling etc.
The resort staff was very friendly and helpful. You could easily find a beach chair every day and the three pools offered something for everybody. The resort is right on the beach and we saw whales every day from the shore. The condo was large with a full kitchen and washer and dryer which came in handy throughout the trip. We were able to buy groceries from across the street and cook several of our own meals. They even have several gas bbq's for guests to use during their stay.

Best place to stay!Posted Feb 11, 2014
Pros: Kitchen to eat in rather than always eating out.
Cons: Lighting, Hot water
Location: You can shop, surf, snorkel, swim, hike, bike, walk, run, jog all within just a few miles of the hotel.
We loved our stay here. We had the smallest accommodation but it was perfect for the two of us. We had a very nice kitchen where we would eat breakfast and lunch. There's a grocery store across the street so that was convenient. The property was lovely and while we didn't use the pools much when we did it was really nice. We liked that valet parking, wifi, and beach towels were included in the price. The view was amazing and since we were there in Feb. we saw whales from our balcony every day. The bed was very comfortable, the bathroom was large and roomy. Having a washer and dryer in the room was handy too, we just tossed a load or two in and I had very little laundry to do when I got home. They cleaned our room every day so it was the best of condo and fine hotel living. It was easy to access the beach and close to all kinds of activities. My only complaints and they are minor since we are planning to go back next year was the lighting in the bathroom wasn't very good and I could only get about 4 inches of hot water in the bathtub before we ran out of hot water.

Great condo on the beachPosted Feb 10, 2014
Pros: Parking and wi fi was included in the resort fee.
Location: Located right on the beach, easy access to shopping, grocery store directly across the street
Just got back from a fantastic trip to maui. Our condo was perfect, booked a studio and was upgraded to a one bedroom. We had a full kitchen. New appliances, room to entertain and a view of the ocean. Would highly recommend this very clean condo. The hotel grounds are well kept, family friendly beautiful resort.

Beautiful hotel right on the beachPosted Feb 4, 2014
Pros: Recently updated. Very clean. The room was quiet. I never heard anyone in the rooms by us.
Location: Right next to the beach. Duke's Restaurant on the property was better than I expected. The banana macadamia nut pancakes were awesome.
My husband and I spent a week at the Honua Kai and loved it. The staff members were all very helpful. The room was clean with all new appliances in the kitchen and laundry room. The pool and common areas of the resort were all well maintained. The boardwalk along the beach was nice for a run away from traffic. The beach was a 5 minute walk from our room. We spotted whales from shore every time we went for a walk.

ComfortablePosted Feb 2, 2014
Pros: The location is great a very short walk to the beach. Beautiful pools and hot tubs.
Our short stay was pleasant. The room was clean with all the amenities. We had no issues at all other then it was a little on the pricey side but would definitely stay again.

Need to be clearer about "views"Posted Jan 31, 2014
Pros: Cleanliness, closeness to the beach, comfort of the bed and room and the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff.
Cons: Don't call something an ocean view when it is obscured.
This hotel really is quite beautiful. Clean and very well maintained. Our only complaint was the view. Staying in room 419 was just high enough to have our "generous" view of the ocean obscured by the tops of Palm trees. Overlooking the well maintained courtyard and koi fish pond was a nice view just not what I would call an ocean view. Technically you could see the ocean but this is not what we expected nor what we believed we were paying extra for. I was told that an upgrade to an "ocean front" view, would be a 3 bedroom suite and would have been more than $1000 extra, per night! Other than this the service staff, valets and concierge were great as was the restaurant and market store.
