Family of Four Vacation

Posted May 20, 2015
Pros: Modern look and clean. Beautiful view from balcony.
Cons: Kitchen tools could be better. Had to call for human size cereal bowls...had about 4 mixing bowls. Teflan pan for eggs scratched beyond desirable use.
Location: Super windy!! Was told by others that the tradewinds are unpredictable. However, further south seemed better.
The Honua Kai was a nice looking resort to stay at. First two days of our week trip was perfect. After that it was off-and-on with gusty gusty winds. It put a real damper on the trip to be in such a nice area and not be able to lay out, read a book and have a drink at your side...the winds just didn't make that possible. As well, the balcony glass doors open up completely, making almost the whole wall gone...really nice!! However, the winds didn't allow that either after the first two days. By contrast, in Lahaina the winds were almost non-existent. Also walking over to neighboring Westin (not too far away), the way of the layout somehow died the winds down to a very bearable minimum. Walked back to our place and we were in a whirlwind again. Besides that, it's a very nice looking place and 1 or 2 of the pools were slightly heated making the wind more tolerant. One of the biggest disappointments was the pool slide attendant. My son cannot swim and uses a round floatie. After the first two days of him having a blast on the slide, with me at the bottom ready to catch him (they will not allow two at a time), all days after that they turned him away, stating no floaties allowed on the slide. That was the peak of his fun there and it was taken away. What was the danger? Why did they allow me to go first, me stating very clearly that I would be waiting for him, and then tell him by himself, make him walk all the way back down to tell me he wasn't coming. Not cool.

Nice hotel right on the beach

Posted May 19, 2015
we were very impressed with Honua Kai resort. we loved our one bedroom condo.it has everything you need for a luxury vacation. The beach was litterally a 10 mins walk from our condo. The washer and dryer was very useful for our stay.overall we would definitely stay here again.

Beautiful hotel with construction on both sides

Posted May 19, 2015
Pros: The rooms are nicely decorated. The pools are the best.
Cons: I don't like having to wear paper wrist bands at the pool. Please figure out another way to discern your hotel guests from pool crashers.
Location: This hotel is across the street from a market, so it is very convenient to shop for groceries.Great snorkeling at the beach right next to the hotel.
I love this resort. My toddlers love all the pools. We went swimming twice a day at least. They are, unfortunately, in between 2 construction sites right now! Beeping giant cranes and diggers are not what we came to Maui to hear. I suggest you ask for an inner courtyard room to avoid the noise. We didn't hear any of it when we switched rooms.

Awesome location!

Posted May 18, 2015
Pros: We loved the kids pool area and walking distance to the beach. Liked the doors that opens to the entire balcony with view of mountain & partial ocean.
Cons: The bed. It needs to be replaced! Both sides were lumpy and caved in. Not at all comfortable. No back support. Needs more cushion.
Location: Near the aquarium. Close enough driving-wise to Lahaina for all the shops and restaurants.
The resort is well maintained! We loved the kids pool area and walking distance to the beach. There are outdoor grills and comfy seats near the pools/beach. The market/deli in the resort is convenient. Overall, our one bedroom with full kitchen accommodation is very comfortable and relaxing!

Facility is nice but ...

Posted May 17, 2015
It is a nice hotel but there is only 1 restaurant/bar on site and it would be a long walk to the next closest place. This place seems a little isolated - Sheraton and Westin are about 2 miles away and have a variety of restaurants, bars and shopping. Also, Lahaina is about 5 miles away and has better weather.

incredible scenery

Posted May 10, 2015
Pros: had an excellent pool / wait staff in Stacey. very friendly, charming and always stopped to see if needed anything. Had restrooms well placed
Cons: The bar staff and wait staff at Dukes wasn't really into job but more into each other. Sat at bar upon arrival and we had to always get their attn
Location: Very good location although a bit confusing on check in on what building. Signage not the best
The pool and scene around hotel along with beach trail was awesome
