“BEAUTIFUL. Very nice hotel”
Honua Kai met every expectation we had! The hotel was a beautiful, and the room we had was awesome in every single way. We were there for the yearly Maui Invitational basketball tournament in November and we were extremely pleased with this hotel. That said, there are a couple of small things that potential visitors might want to be aware of. A couple of "cons" to this hotel were that we had a 2 bedroom "resort view" room. The only real view we had was of the hotel parking lot really. Second con, was that when we originally arrived, it was difficult to find where we were going. This was caused by us arriving at night in the dark, and the hotel having two distinct parts. The first one is at the address that is listed online, and the second one (where we were staying was right beside it and was where we were sent to check in LATE at night when we checked in. The darkness and winding streets made it a little bit difficult to locate. The third minor con was that the hotel portion of the island did seem to be a little breezier than it was down Kaanapali beach some, and especially in Lahaina where it seemed calm. I would say that the people were all friendly, the food at "Duke's" was tremendous and parking etc....was very convenient. Overall the cons were minor, and the hotel was overwhelmingly nice and the hotel staff all were very pleasant. Highly recommend this to others that are looking to stay in the Lahaina/Kaanapali Beach area!
“Not for Couples”
Not a bad condo resort at all, just isn't for couples. More for families or people with small children IMO. Passing by one man who seemed to be about 60 or so he says to me "This place is too quiet, it is making me feel like I'm in a hospital". That should about sum it up. Nice grounds, clean and all. Again, just not for couples.
“Honeymoon went bad.......”
The hotel was very nice however we came to Maui to celebrate our honeymoon and the hotel staff had no care in the world that we had just celebrated our newley found courtship. I would NOT recommend this place if you are looking for romance.
“First Class”
Can't say enough about our stay at the Honua Kai. It met and exceeded all expectations. Our 2 bedroom / 2 bath unit was clean and quiet with high quality furnishings and a fantastic view. The facilities and grounds were beautiful with a choice of pools, spas and places to relax. A boardwalk meanders through the dunes and adjacent resorts and there are miles of beach to walk, swim and snorkel.
“Best and most beautiful swimming pools to lounge around”
I love being able to view the mountains and the ocean at the same time.
“Best vacation ever”
Had a wonderful time and it was the best place to stay. Pop for the ocean view...totally worth it! Service was premium. Will go back in a heartbeat, well worth the cost!
“Enjoyed our stay”
The resort is not in a central location, however, it was very nice and peaceful.
“Awesome Condo”
Awesome view of the ocean... nearby grocery store and cheap eats... short drive down to Lahaina and Whalers Village. There's also a nice parking garage for your convenience and an elevator that goes straight up to your condo unit.
“Nice hotel but...”
We booked a one-bedroom ocean view room, We got upgraded to a two bedroom ocean-front view. (Nice but second bedroom completely unused since it was just the two of us.) BE CAREFUL ABOUT THE VIEW. Although our balcony was big and if you looked to your right you can see the ocean, when facing out, you are looking into other people's rooms. When asked about this, they said since we're on a higher floor (floor 4) and we can see the ocean, it's considered an "ocean-view" room. When looking down from our room, we see the pool and courtyard. We asked about a room actually facing the ocean and they said those are three-bedroom rooms. Also, because the hotel is in U shape, you can hear loud people partying across the way. The hotel is clean, service was great. the KITCHEN was awesome. The folding glass doors are awesome as well. Overall, I would recommend this hotel for families with young kids BUT NOT honeymooners.
“Great Vacation”
I have traveled to Maui 5 times and this is the best hotel that I have visited. The location, condition, service, and price were great. Tip get supplies at Costco by the airport before you go to Honua Kai.
