“Great family vacation!”
Great condo with great facilities. Several pool areas for the kids and adults to play in. Valet service was excellent. The staff was very kind and made a great effort. Very close to a supermarket; walking-distance.
“Luxury and convenient location!”
We found the hotel to meet all of our needs. It was located right on Kaanapali Beach with great snorkeling just a brief walk away. The hotel is quite new, nicely decorated and the surroundings are beautiful and peaceful -- just perfect for a vacation. The kitchen had everything we needed as far as cooking utensils but you'll need to bring your own salt, pepper, cooking oil etc. (There is a grocery store across the street which is quite convenient.) They provided coffee, dishwashing soap and detergent for the laundry. Our favorite part of the room were the sliding glass doors which essentially opened up an entire wall to the outside. We didn't find the staff very friendly or outgoing but perhaps their working conditions are less than desirable....? Not sure if it was that or just poor training. Anyway, it didn't really bother us since we didn't feel like we needed their help most of the time.
“Great Resort”
Hotel was very nice, clean, and new. Lots of fun pools and hot tubs. Great place for families and couples (as long as they don't mind some kids) Staff by the pool bars was excellant. Ask for a POG and Vodka. (POG is Pineapple, Orange, and Passion fruit juice mix.) Amazingly good drink.
“Hawaii Vacation”
Staff were friendly and attentive to our needs. They put the ALOHA in Maui!!!!
“hawaii”
outstanding- we were upgraded to the new resort and a wonderful 2 bedroom 2 bath suit
“Wonderful stay. Hated to leave.”
We had a wonderful stay at Honua Kai. We had an upgraded room, were welcomed with champagne for our wedding, and were able to watch whales and rainbows from our patio every day! The concierge helped up pick a luau and a hiking area. We ate at Dukes one night and were able to walk to the grocery store to fill the fridge with breakfast and snacks. The only downside would be the wind and rain. But it you head south to Lahaina, there was significanly better weather. We hated to leave. I could have stayed a week longer...at least!
“Honua Kai Good Location”
Excellent location on Kahekili beach. A short drive to Kaanapali and Lahaina or a pleasant morning walk to Black Rock. Kids loved the pools and waterslide. While I stayed at the resort with my family (two kids less than 10) and it was a great place for families, I suspect honeymooners could be disappointed with the number of children around -- Honua Kai didn't strike me as the most romantic spot on the island. Also, many of the ocean view rooms have lovely ocean views from the lanais, but from inside your suite, you will only see lanais from the building across the courtyard.
“Honua Kai Resort Rating 5 stars”
Honua Kai Resort is one the best resort I have ever stay at and I have been at a few, Great service from the staff and pretty much everyone. The resort was spotless look like brand new.The room was just perfect . I myself would have rated this resort 5 stars out of five. If I return to Maui I would book this resort right away.Great job by everyone there.
“Excellent choice in Hawaii”
Excellent hotel. Very well located. Room was confortable. Concierge was helpful. The signs to get to the hotel could be better. We arrived at night and went to the wrong tower.
“Helpful reviews”
This being our 3rd trip to Maui we were being cautious not to over expect. I mean when your in Maui it's kinda hard to top from one trip to the next. However I'll have to say third times charm!!! Honua Kai provided the most comfortable and relaxed stay we have yet to experience. The amenities related to the price was perfect. The resort had all the opulence you would expect from a 5 star resort for a lesser price. The resort location is perfect for activities and weather. I learned on my second trip that the farther north you stay on West Maui the more likely you are to have rain from the mountains blow into the resort area. Honua Kai has a well maintained property and easy beach access. The Beach in front of Honua Kai is excellent for snorkeling or swimming and is kept very clean. The staff was very accommodating and friendly. The room we stayed was located in the Kona tower and even though it was a resort view there was still a view of the ocean. The resort also upgraded to a two bedroom at no extra cost. To top off the wonderful resort Honua Kai is home to what I believe to be the best food on the island, Dukes Restaurant. I have eaten all over the island from Hana to Lahaina and Dukes is tops! When making plans for our trip I read each review on each hotel listed with expedia that we were interested in. I noticed Honua Kai received very high marks and I trusted in the past travelers opinions when booking. We were not disappointed!!
