Great hotel in the best location

Posted Apr 12, 2014
We have stayed in this hotel many times going back to when it opened in 1980. Many of the original staff are still employed at the hotel and remember my family year after year. The hotel is always very clean and the restaurants are superb. Great pool area and a terrific spa. We will be going back again soon

Hyatt Regency Maui

Posted Apr 9, 2014
Front desk person upgraded our room to ocean and pool view, Awesome!!! First got into our room very spacious. Got a 2 for 1 breakfast buffet. The food had alot of variety exellent!!! Eating area was very nice. The pool area was happening alot of pretty views.... I didnt get a chance to use the fitness room forgot my shoes. Used the self parking to avoid valet charges, but they charged $15 a day fo self parking. A worker with a long golf cart gave us a ride up to the lobby. The only thing I didnt like was the check in is @ 4pm and check out @ 11am. I asked for a late check out 12:30pm. Then stayed @ the pool all day. Overall our stay was great...

Good facility right on ocean

Posted Apr 6, 2014
We had a king room & appreciated couch, chair & table in room plus walk in closet & 2 fridges. Did have construction as our view, but as we were at pools, beach, & exploring Maui each day, it didn't bother us. Beautiful, spacious grounds with several pools, & lots of deck chairs. Had view of ocean from most of grounds too. Close walk to shopping & restaurants. Only down for us was time share sales people at several spots on resort .

Overall OK but 50 bucks extra for no service added

Posted Apr 6, 2014
Cons: Get rid of resort fee, 30 dollars/day for 2 bottles of water and internet should either be optional or not part of the regular bill.
30 dollars for resort fee- Bottled water and Internet 20 dollars to park- assume rate is 50 bucks more than stated While new wing might be great when done old wing is getting old

Partially obstructed, by massive construction

Posted Apr 6, 2014
Nice hotel, they nickel and dime you to death, at checkout I got a bill for $30 /day "surcharge", the valet parkers guard the entry of hotel and won't let you leave your car for a minute just to load your car so they can squeeze a tip out you. They advertised partially obstructed view room, next to "new development", not jackhammers and saws and construction cranes... After we complained they switched us (for a price) to a less spacious Handicapped Access room that didn't even have a toilet door...a little uncomfortable for a family of 4. They ruin paradise!!! Buyer beware.

Read fine print about construction

Posted Apr 6, 2014
Location: Perfect location!
I didn't read the fine print that stated construction was going on beware that the rooms you book you will face the construction site they start at 7am and it goes until 5pm. When we asked about moving rooms the only option you are given is a room where you have no balcony access or you have to pay an extra $120-150 a night to upgrade. To be fair though because of the time difference we were always up around 7am already so the construction really didn't bother me too much. The size of the room, and the grounds of the hotel made up for the inconvenience of the noise from the construction.

Very nice grounds; hotel near beach.

Posted Apr 5, 2014
Pros: The pool is wonderful. Loved having the Market and bar right there beside it. The food at Umalu was great although expensive.
Cons: The rooms need updating -- one sink in bathroom, very small quarters, dark colors and very old decor; hardly any drawers to put our clothes in.
Location: Loved being on the beach walk where you could walk for miles in either direction. There is a park on one end. Many opportunities for dining; surfing
Our first 2 nights were spent in an ADA room which had no bathroom privacy. And the shower seaped out into the floor -- no way to stop it. But on Thursday, we were able to change rooms and from then on we were much happier. The rooms are "tired" and in need of updating. But we were comfortable. The construction actually didn't bother us. They begin at 7 and leave around 4 -- we were hardly ever in the room at those times. The pool is very nice but very crowded. That's what we get for traveling at Spring Break time. Love the penguins in the lobby. Timeshare people are not obnoxious at all. We went whale watching and had a fabulous experience.
