We booked 2 nights at the Kaanapali Ocean Inn, with the intention of extending our stay as long as it met our expectations. I'm so glad that we didn't book the entire stay upfront!!
When we arrived at the hotel, the front desk attendant informed us that they had overbooked the room that we were supposed to be staying in. So instead, we would be staying in a bungalow at their sister hotel, The Royal Lahaina. The problem with a bungalow is, that everytime someone walks by, they peer into the windows. As a woman, this felt especially creepy. So we could never leave our curtains open, instead living in complete darkness. The beach was a ten minute walk away, when the front desk agent assured us that it would only be a minute's walk. We commented that we wanted to stay in the hotel that we actually booked, and were told that they only had oceanfront rooms available, and that if we wanted to stay in one of those rooms, we'd have to pay an upgrade fee. How ridiculous!! They were the ones who overbooked!!
The bungalow itself was old, run down, and smelled musty. There was hair all over the shower wall. The only good thing I can say is that the bed was comfortable.
Don't waste your time and money. Find somewhere else.
Thanks for ruining our vacation.
