Kaanapali Ocean Inn is a very old motel, outdated, no water pressure, beds were not comfortable, lighting in the room was poor over priced the employees not helpful 😡

We were only at the property for about 10 hours as we needed a place to stay prior to being picked up at 2 am for Haleakala. Soon after getting to the room, we spotted a cockroach that got under the carpet. A luau was in progress, so there was music and pounding right outside our balcony for several hours as we tried to get some sleep. Upon waking, a couple more cockroaches were spotted. We were relieved to be checking out. As we were running late for the 2 am shuttle, we did not have an opportunity to discuss this with the staff.

Its a nice budget inn. The room we stayed at had direct view of the luau and beach view looking towards Sheraton. The room is decent with high ceilings. Theres not much to really ask for, but overall we happy with our stay. There were a couple of downsides, the AC kept turning on every so often, there is no way to turn it off and it blows cold air. Im always having to change the temperature setting to turn it off. The second downside is that there are pests: several silverfishes and cockroaches noted in the room. There were some dead ones in the bathroom. So place is probably cleaned but bugs get in somehow. i wouldn't stay here again if i had to recommend it to someone.

This hotel should be rated a 1-star and the rate should be at that level. To pay over $200 a night and have bugs, ants and roaches every night in the room is ridiculous. No microwave in the room, ok, but to not have one accessible anywhere on the property is terrible. Water faucets in the shower were mislabeled and broken as well. If you're desperate for a place to stay I guess you can waste your money. I won't ever again.

This is Lao unfortunate. One night in Maui and we are put in this dungeonous room in what looks like a condemned building behind the actual resort. Most of the room around us are gutted out. Moldy smelling room unclean bathroom floors. Noisy close to outdoor kitchen and event location.

We got bumped up to a bungaloo room which was super nice of them. Our stay was absolutely magical, we never wanted to leave. The Resort is beautiful, the Hawaiian language course was a ton of fun, they are on one of the best beaches in Maui, or even all of Hawaii, and the weather is always super nice on the west side of Maui because of the mountains blocking out the rain, though sometimes it can be very windy. It was a amazing stay, one of the best times of my life, I highly recommend this resort to anyone looking for a perfect getaway.

Daily Resort fee of $40... I guess so you have the right to actually use the resort you rented a room in??? and $35 a day to park the rental car required to reach their resort? Just tell me upfront how much a day it's going to cost and let me make the decision if I want to stay there or not. And the parking... they don't have enough spaces to accommodate their lodging guests on nights when they have their (very loud) Luau. So... if you arrive back to your room between 6pm and 8:30pm (like after going to dinner) forget it, you get to either use their valet parking for an additional $40 on top of the $35 you've already paid or parking way up the hill in a lot not easily accessible. They don't even let you know the amount the taxes will be until you've checked out. Not a fan of the Royal Lahaina Resort.

Move On To Elsewhere - It's a Dump
Overall - should take it out with a wrecking ball. So deteriorated. Carpets stained. Dirty. Glass not cleaned well. Hallways stink. Sliding doors to closets and lanai barely functioning. Painted plywood cabinets. Dated (60's at best). I've stayed in Motel 6's nicer than this. View was the ONLY plus but I had to upgrade to get it. They should have comped me. I only saw two other guests there in 3 days. Ghost town atmosphere. Also - the room was right next to the Luau venue so I had to endure 3 nights of loud music and narrative. Even with airpods in and movie going, I couldn't shut out the noise. This place is a dump. Don't spend your money here.

my first night walking in i saw a cockroach crawl under another hotel rooms door. went into my room and the floors were very dusty and dirty. went out to the balcony where i saw another small cockroach. other then that it was good the staff was nice and helpful and it’s in a convenient spot

We booked 2 nights at the Kaanapali Ocean Inn, with the intention of extending our stay as long as it met our expectations. I'm so glad that we didn't book the entire stay upfront!! When we arrived at the hotel, the front desk attendant informed us that they had overbooked the room that we were supposed to be staying in. So instead, we would be staying in a bungalow at their sister hotel, The Royal Lahaina. The problem with a bungalow is, that everytime someone walks by, they peer into the windows. As a woman, this felt especially creepy. So we could never leave our curtains open, instead living in complete darkness. The beach was a ten minute walk away, when the front desk agent assured us that it would only be a minute's walk. We commented that we wanted to stay in the hotel that we actually booked, and were told that they only had oceanfront rooms available, and that if we wanted to stay in one of those rooms, we'd have to pay an upgrade fee. How ridiculous!! They were the ones who overbooked!! The bungalow itself was old, run down, and smelled musty. There was hair all over the shower wall. The only good thing I can say is that the bed was comfortable. Don't waste your time and money. Find somewhere else. Thanks for ruining our vacation.
