"We've stayed at this hotel many times & love it. "
The staff is great. If you have a problem they fix it immediately. Sometimes they give you an upgraded room, & that's a treat. The pool is wonderful, nice & warm. We will keep coming back, look forward to it every year.

"Family Visit"
Returning to Maui for the third time, we found Makena Beach Resort to be a well equipped hotel. The fact that there are no additional resort or parking fees meant it was easier to commit to a longer stay and do more things. We loved the free introduction activities (lei making, photo shoot, Eco tours, etc). The best part was the staff. We felt so pampered from the moment you pulled up to the hotel. Friendly, helpful and always available to meet our every need. Thank you for a wonderful stay! We will be back.

We were upgraded to a beach front condo from the ocean view that I had booked. Our unit was exceptional with a fantastic ocean view from the living room and both bedrooms. We loved hearing the waves lull us to sleep at night, people watching the boardwalk from our balcony and watching the sunset from our bedroom. The kitchen was well equipped, we cooked in a couple of nights. Yoga instructor was great, massage by the beach was top notch, beach club meals were better than we expected, and we even checked out the hotels stand up paddle boards a couple of times. We had a wonderful stay.

"Be careful what you ask for . . ."
We looked at the wonderful pictures of the rooms over the internet (5 months previously) and chose to stay at the Mahana. We assumed that every room had a couch like the pictures showed. Decided to call the next day to make sure, but were told that we would have to upgrade to get a couch. Said we would like to upgrade right away, so were told to fill in and sign a form called a "Hookipia?" and to email it back to them that would guarantee our upgrade. Which we did. Then I called them to confirm, yes they got the form. Then I asked not to be on the ground floor, anywhere from 2 to 12. They also they confirmed would be fine. When we arrived at the hotel (in the middle of the night) surprise surprise, they couldn't find the form. And they had no record of my many phone calls asking for a room on a higher floor, and of course the tiny ground floor room that they had guaranteed just for us was the last available room in the whole hotel. We were not impressed, not at all. The ground floor unit was grungy, and in need of a total reno. We didn't even unpack, no room and the floor felt dirty. After two days they did manage to move us up to the 8th floor. And I have to say that that room was excellent! Like night and day. So at least our stay ended on a good note.
