Occupying 17-acres of beachfront on Maluaka Beach in South Maui's expansive Makena Resort, this hotel curves around an open-air atrium of Asian-inspired gardens with koi ponds, streams, and waterfalls accentuated by meandering paths.
Recreation options include 18 holes of championship golf, tennis (surcharge), a fitness center, and an outdoor splash pool with children's wading pool. The adjacent beach offers swimming and is also one of the most popular snorkeling spots in Maui, as well as being a departure point for boat cruises.
The Makena resort has the Molokini Bar & Grille, which serves cocktails and pupus; Café Kiowai provides breakfast on a garden terrace; and Cafe on the Green is a casual spot for island lunch.

Part of the 1,800-acre Makena Resort, the 17-acre Makena Beach and Golf Resort hugs a crescent of secluded beach with calm ocean waters. Water-sports equipment rentals are available, including kayak tours, outrigger canoe rides, and paddle boards; a 46-foot catamaran (surcharge) sails from the beach to Molokini Islet, where some of Maui's best snorkeling can be found.
On-site facilities include an outdoor splash pool, children's pool, and spa tub. A fitness center provides free weights, strength-training equipment, and cardiovascular machines such as an elliptical trainer, stair machine, and treadmill.
The resort is home to an 18-hole championship golf course designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr. Golf facilities include a driving range, putting green, and pro shop.
