Warm welcome at great hotelPosted Apr 19, 2015
This hotel was a great location and no hidden extras. Local beach is fabulous but it's the warmth of the staff that set this hotel apart. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Great location, a bit rundownPosted Apr 19, 2015
Pros: The location is lovely...beautiful beach views. The rooms are nice and big. The poolside staff were excellent, as were the valets and bell staff.
Cons: It's out-dated and feels kind of rundown. Gift shop staff could use some customer service training.
Location: The shuttles go to the shops at Wailea and nearby restaurants. The town of Kihei is less than 10 minutes away, and Lahaina is an easy drive.
The location of this hotel is nice and quiet and its beach is beautiful. We were waaaay down at the end of one side and still had an ocean view which was really nice. I've seen several comments about the pool and I admit that before I went I thought these seemed kind of petty, what with the beach so nearby but I have to admit that I understand the negative comments. The pool IS really small and there are only ladders to get in and out of it, no steps. Additionally, the entire pool is 6' deep so you can never just stand in the pool. The poolside staff were excellent. The people at the valet stands were very nice and helpful. Our shuttle bus driver, Dave, was fun and Dawn and Cherry were great! In contrast the people at the gift shop were barely cordial. I was there almost every day and it wasn't until about Day 6 of the 7-day stay that I encountered someone friendly there which was such a contrast to the others that it stuck out to me. All in all it was a nice stay. I'm doubt I'd go back.

Nice hotel on Makena BeachPosted Apr 16, 2015
We had a very pleasant experience with our stay in Maui. The room is clean, we had partial ocean view which is the best because you have a view of the golf course and the ocean. We didn't need AC, we stayed with the door open all the time since the ocean breeze is nice. The restaurant serves some good food but a bit pricey, but the grill at the pool is not that good. The staff at the restaurant is too fast and the girl at the entry was not that nice. You seemed a bit rushed to get inside, get your order and be gone. We enjoyed some good cocktails and the food is good. There are a lot of family activities around the hotel. The waves on the beach are a bit rough, but there is good snorkeling and we saw turtles and did swim with them. Outside the beach activities you can play mini-golf, ping-pong, badminton, enjoy the pool. You need a car to go to the nearest store where we bought some fruit and water. There are also some good restaurants up north from Makena if you want a good lunch or dinner. My family had a great time at this hotel. Overall was a very good experience.

Great location, secluded beach, great snorkelling.Posted Apr 15, 2015
Pros: The location, the grounds, the buffet breakfast.
Cons: The bar is a bit boring, could be a bit more lively.
Location: Snorkelling, lava fields, beaches.
Really nice hotel on the beach. The bed was really comfy. Nice balcony with view of the garden and the ocean. We sat every morning by the pond and waterfall to enjoy the great buffet breakfast.

Excellent hotel facilities and closeness to beachPosted Apr 14, 2015
Pros: The location, The Gardens, The Beach, The Coral Reefs, The food and the staff.
Cons: The Golf course is being renovated so is currently out of action if you are planning golfing. Otherwise nothing!
Location: Quiet location Designer Shops + restraunts10 mins away Beach on location two other beaches 5-10 minutes away
The location is nice and quiet, a little off the beaten track but close enough to shops if you fancy checking out restaurants or shopping 10 mins away by car. The room was nice and clean and very comfortable. Breakfast was excellent fresh and had a great variety to pick from. The hotels main restaurant was excellent but maybe a little pricey. The pool bar style restaurant was good but only served food till 5pm. All water sports available to hire and the best amenity of the hotel has to be the amazing beach and coral reefs just meters from the shore. The beach literally feels like part of the hotel property and was very clean with beautiful sand.Turtles seen Snorkeling every day and beautiful fish life in a safe private beach that did not have any currents to worry about for the kids while swimming . My wife, two kids and I had a fantastic time here and felt well looked after. Would definitely consider booking this hotel again based on our experience and would recommend it.

Very comfortable room - had ocean view. Loved all the amenities. Beach was nice and not too crowded. Happy Hour was fantastic - Poke of the day was delish and the 57 Chevy cocktail was great. Free shuttle to shops and Big Beach was a plus since I didn't rent a car and just stayed local.
