Great family vacation.

The hotel is big with beautiful gardens, views, and beach front. It is not the newest, but it is comfortable and really clean. The staff is so nice and friendly. we included breakfast buffet with our booking, and it saved us money. The rooms had a small fridge, and the microwave is $25 per day by request. Our daughter loved feeding the fish everyday with the food given by the hotel staff in a little bag. They also have free valet parking, and free car service if going around Wailea-Makena. They gave us a ride to the Four Season and told us to call when we were done for pick up. The food could be improved for the pool menu and room service. The balconies echo voices, so people can hear eachother. So, it is not a place for young partiers. They have free bikes, and rentals for snorkeling, kayaking, beach umbrellas, etc. Overall, we had a great time and will recommend it for a relaxing vacation.

Excellent Stay at Makena

Pros: Location, decor and beautiful indoor garden!
Cons: The pool could use a serious upgrade.
I was pleasantly surprised with the beauty and set up of this hotel. It was very organized and the staff was almost always friendly. The food and drinks at the pool bar were a bit pricey but that is to be expected. The pool size was disappointing but I prefer the ocean anyway. We were there for a wedding and the bride had requested those in their party be roomed in the same area if possible. Although we were not very close to them, we were upgraded to an ocean view room, which felt more like partial ocean view which we had paid for anyway. The one downside was that we could not smoke on the lanai. This was very disappointing. Also there were designated smoking areas instead of the freedom to smoke anywhere but it wasn't upsetting as I understand and respect those who don't smoke and don't wish to be around it. I found that Maui itself is a very non-smoking place. Having the shuttle to take you around within a small distance was very nice as well. We used it several times for our large group outings and tipped well as the drivers and valet were always chipper and very happy. The beach is one to be reckoned with. I can't say I saw a better beach at any other hotel in this area. it was perfect for the amount of guests and pristine. I've read one of the best in Wailea. It is unfortunate that this hotel will eventually become luxury condos (so I have read). Otherwise, I would love to return here.

Great snorkeling just right in front of the hotel. Saw turtles and lots of fish. The coral reefs are really nice. You need to go out early before wind kicks up. This is a great hotel away from the crowded beaches. Yet the beach is one of the better beaches around .

Beautiful resort that is away from the crowds.

Hotel was great. The resort was the last hotel on the road, therefore the beach was less crowded. Great location and there was a lot of activities that the hotel provides you that ranges from ping pong table, miniature golf, and free bikes.

Everything about this place is awesome. Fantastic staff, brilliant location close to the beach (I saw turtles!), nice rooms (especially with ocean view) and super relaxing. Was sad to leave.

Very close to beach!!

We stayed here for two nights before moving over to another resort for 5. The staff are very friendly. At Check-in you get a shell lai, and cold towels to wipe off with. The hotel its self is a little dated, but rooms were comforatable. Wifi and valet are free here. On site restaurants have good food at maui prices. Great access to the beach steps away from the resort. First morning we woke up to a turtle on the beach!!!

Amazing hotel and location on Maui!

Posted May 12, 2015
This was our honeymoon and first time to Maui. This hotel was so beautiful, desk staff and concierge staff were super nice and helpful. The layout of the resort is open with beautiful gardens in the middle. Our Room was supposed to be a partial view but they upgraded us to ocean view- and it was absolutely beautiful. Got some wonderful sunset pictures just stepping out on our balcony. The beach felt private and was was one my favorites on Maui, and the pool was nice as well. They offered yoga classes twice a week by the ocean that was so relaxing. The maids were friendly and did an excellent job. The breakfast buffet is amazing, but $27 each per person, so we bought some cereal and milk and other breakfast items for the mini fridge in the room to have some mornings to save some money for daily excursions. This area is a little secluded, but Maui is so small you really can go anywhere and it's not a problem. We would just pack the car for the day if we were going to another part of the island. There are good hotel restaurants, but also some excellent ones down the road about ten minutes. You can rent bikes for free from here which was awesome cause you can bike to big beach/little beach or the black sand beaches which are close by. There is free coffee in the room you can make or there is a Starbucks downstairs. They have towels you cans use for pool or beach so I don't think you need to pack any. This is a great place to stay for honeymoon and also a family trip as well!
