9 very hot days at Napili Kai Beach ResortPosted Oct 13, 2014
Pros: The pools are well located, the beach is really nice and the restaurant is phenomenal.
Cons: Air conditioning available in every room.
Location: A little far from the airport, but well located for shopping, restaurants and beaches
For such a large resort it is too bad that air conditioning is not available in all rooms. We had paid extra for an oceanfront room which did not make sense when we compared with our other fellow travellers. When we arrive at the resort and got our rooms, we had air conditioning in our room and the others did not. This isn't evident when you book your rooms. For such a lovely resort, air conditioning should be provided in all rooms. Also the quiet time is at 10 pm. at this resort, with no air conditioning in most rooms, people leave all windows, patio doors open. When you have a wedding at this resort, it is very difficult to make the quiet time at 10 pm. There should be a room when it is possible to gather and be able to party a little longer. Other than that the beach is wonderful, staff is super friendly, the restaurant is excellent, service is exceptional.

Old school Hawaiian hospitality in a quiet settingPosted Oct 5, 2014
Pros: Location, room standard, friendly staff, relaxed vibe, amazing beach.
Cons: I would not change it, when the main pool is finished it will be even better.
Location: Napili Bay is amazing - see above. Loads of water sports options, hiking, golf.
LOVED this location and the resort is laid back. Do not come here if you want nightlife/clubbing/party scene. Do come here if you want beautiful, natural, tropical oceanfront location and a quiet holiday. It's an easy drive down to Lahaina or Kaanapali if you want. The majority of rooms are large, modern, well-equipped. We stayed in Puna Point 2 building (room 209). The apartment was huge - would easily sleep 5 and we are a family of four. Cleaned daily to a very high standard. Two excellent bathrooms and a fully-equipped kitchen with huge fridge. Air con and ceiling fans and electric roller blinds at the front for the afternoon sun. The balcony looks right out over a small pool area straight onto the ocean - you can see Lanai and Molokai straight over the water, the sunsets are beautiful. It's a short stroll on the shoreline to the restaurant (Sea House), which is in a great spot on the beach. The food is fine, not amazing but good none the less and very generous Happy Hour (actually 2 hours). Kids eat free. This was only the third public hotel/lodging of any kind on Maui so has a long history in the area, when it was really just forest at the end of a long, unsealed road. The beach of Napili Bay is wonderful - clear water, lots of sea life (turtles regularly swimming with you), gentle waves as protected from strong North swells. There is a big, well-manicured putting green for mini-golf which our kids enjoyed. I would love to go again, we really enjoyed Maui.

Absolutely wonderful! Renovation to pool was going on but hotel handled it beautifully. Restaurant was delicious. Beach out the front door was incredible. Saw a few roaches in the bathroom but understand that is not uncommon on the island.

True Aloha experience in a classic settingPosted Aug 9, 2014
Pros: The on site restaurant was very good and fairly reasonable. The laid back flavor adds to the comfort of the hotel. The place is multi generational....
Cons: The beach can get crowded and chairs can be hard to find.
Location: Close enough to Lahania to get to restaurants.... Far enough away to be relaxing!
Napili Kai is a unique property located directly on the beautiful cove at Napili. The hotel is very different from all the high rise condos that seem to have overwhelmed parts of Maui. A warm staff, lovely garden filled grounds, four pools and serene views make this a special old style Hawaiian hotel. We stayed in the Puna 2 building in an efficiency unit, it was perfectly maintained and well appointed.the hotel is family friendly ....but quiet enough in parts for couples.

Hawaii as we dreamed it would bePosted Jul 27, 2014
Pros: The beach and the sparkling ocean, friendly staff, comfortable vibe.
Cons: Could we get 2 sunsets a day?
Location: Location is a bit off the main road, but there is a free shuttle to close shopping and Maui bus stops right in front. We enjoyed the Kapalua zip line.
Our 5 days at Napili Kai Beach Resort was a dream come true. We celebrated our 40th anniversary there, thinking it was a one-time visit but before we left we vowed to return again soon. Room was steps from the beach. Kitchen was sparkling. Staff at all levels were so considerate and helpful. So many freebies, putting greens and putters, beach towels.Their beach has to be the best on Maui, we saw several neighboring resorts, beaches and they did not compare. Sunsets every night were awesome. When we sent photos to our friends they accused us of sending gallery photos. The atmosphere is laid back, fun, and relaxing. Other guests became new friends. The slack key guitar/ukulele show was worth it. A fun, intimate evening with talented musicians and a graceful hula artist. Did I mention the sunsets? We're planning our return.

A true Hawaiian treasurePosted Jul 26, 2014
If you're into overcrowded, high rise tourist traps this place is not for you but if you enjoy authentic Hawaiian aloha then look no further. The resort is over 50 years old but beautifully maintained. Excellent amenities, perfect for both families and romantic retreats. Super easy access to your own beach. Napili bay is beautiful, perfect for snorkeling, SUP and just playing in the water. A little calm for boogie boarding or surfing though. For me, this is the perfect Hawaiian resort.
