Café O'Lei - Open for dinner Tuesday–Saturday. Overlooks the koi-and-fountains pond and to the Pacific beyond. Located next to the lobby, the lovely restaurant serves classic Pacific Island cuisine.

Recreation

Golf alone makes West Maui famous. Three award-winning, championship courses nestle between the verdant West Maui Mountains and the blue Pacific in Kapalua, less than a mile north from Napili Shores Resort. In addition, the Kapalua Golf Academy is nearby. The Tennis Garden and the Village Tennis Center are also in Kapalua.

On the beach at Napili Bay, boogie boards and snorkel sets are available for rent. Scuba-diving lessons and excursions can be booked as well as kayaking/snorkeling tours at the resort's tour-and-activity desk.

“Great place to stay!”

We were very comfortable in our condo room and happy that it was clean and had a nice kitchen. The large slider opened on the garden area which was very well maintained. Within just a few steps out the door we had the beautiful ocean view. We used the nice barbecue area a few nights for family gatherings.

“Love Napili, and This Place is Great!!”

If you know/like Napili Bay in Maui, this place is great. Nearby to everything you may need during your stay. Restaurants, shopping, great snorkeling, beaches, you name it!! Rooms are great, best if you get a ground floor room.

“Best Place to stay in Maui”

This was our first trip to the Islands and we choose to stay here... Upon arrival the desk staff was very pleasant and had knowledge that I had pre sent a basket (snack) to my husband... Every person whom we came in contact with while spending one week was very professional and pleasant.. The ground where taken care of everyday and the landscape was just beautiful.. This hotel was very family orientated and very peaceful... if you go to the beach and walk down you can go on live web cam so your family at home came see you and watch the sunsets as we see them there live. Concierge desk was awesome.. I had preplanned the weeks activities and we had just a few things to add upon watching activities... and withing minutes they were scheduled and I enjoyed the stand up paddle (SUP) so much.. get it from the hotel its a better price and delivered to your hotel..we will plan our next trip to Maui also at the Outrigger...

“This is my 4th time staying here and still love this place!”

This was the 4th time my family and I stayed on this property. The last time was 13 years ago. The grounds are beautiful, the access to great snorkeling is just step's from you door and it is low key. The upgraded rooms this time were a big bonus! If you are looking for the four seasons or the Ritz, this is not for you! If you want a great layed back vacation in Maui that is family friendly , this is the place to stay. I will stay there next time in Maui.

Lahina is the most happening place on the West side of the island.

Getting around

It is a must to have a car on Maui- There are too many sights to see and would be impossible without a car.

What to pack

Short's, tee shirts, flip flops, beach attire-no need to dress up unless you plan to go to a five star restruant.

“We will book a trip to Napili Shores again.”

Had a great stay on my honeymoon recently. Had full kitchen with ocean view room, bed was comfortable and the area is quiet. Very relaxing place and not very far from numerous activities on west Maui. If you like to party and get wild at night, go south to the big resorts. Napili Bay was right next to resort, nice and uncrowded beach where you can watch the amazing sunsets. Highly recommend Napili Shores to others.

“Easy to see why people keep going back”

We stayed at the Outrigger for 4 nights and it completely exceeded our expectations. The room was clean and comfortable and the kitchen had everything we needed to make our own breakfast and lunch every day. The beach is gorgeous and the snorkeling is fantastic! And the sunsets are amazing, too. We were sad to have missed the whales though. The mai tais and the food at Cafe Ole were delicious! Between the resort itself and the friendly staff and the nice and quiet (but happy!) environment, it was easy to see why so many of the people we met always go back to the Outrigger Napili Shores. We hope to go back someday, too!

Area recommendations

Lahaina is definitely worth the trip - the Banyon Tree is a site to see! The beaches in nearby Kaanapali were very pretty and a lot of fun to swim in. The turtle bay just south of Napili Bay (walk across the rocks to the resort next door) is guaranteed turtle sighting when snorkeling. The Kapulua Trail (accessible at Kapalua Bay, just North of Napili Bay) was a lot of fun to walk - the lava rock formations and the views were amazing.

What to pack

It gets a little cooler than I was expecting at night - pack a light sweater or sweatshirt!

“Perfect Low-Key Beach Resort!”

My husband and I stayed at Napili Shores with our 2 year old for a week in April 2011. I had previously stayed here with my parents 13 years ago and had so many good memories that when we decided to spend our vacation in Maui, Napili Shores was my first choice. The grounds were just as I had remembered - well-manicured with lush tropical plants, a cute koi pond, 2 clean pools, and lots of soft grass to play or lay on. The rooms however, are a lot nicer than I remembered! The resort has undergone a really nice revamp, including complete remodeling of the kitchens and bathrooms, and all new furniture in the units. We stayed in a one-bedroom garden view and it was perfect. The full kitchen had everything you need - we only ate out a handful of times while in Maui, the rest of the time we BBQ'd and ate on our lanai. Heaven! The best part about Napili Shores though, is the location. The beach of Napili Bay is right there. It's a short walk to the water and maybe the nicest beach on Maui. We snorkeled with sea turtles and tons of fish every evening and our son loved playing in the sand and tide pools. Not having to drive to a beach is huge! You could stay anywhere on Napili Bay and it would be great, but Napili Shores is my very favorite because of the awesome grounds. It's not fancy, but the grassy area, common BBQs, and the pool areas are really nice. We met so many great neighbors that made our trip even more fun. We will definitely be back - hopefully sooner than 13 years!
