Great hotel on one of the best beachesPosted Oct 18, 2014
Great, friendly staff and nice facilities. Their restaurant is good but it closes at 9 along with the beachside bar so not great for late night drinks. It's on Kaanapali beach which is very nice for swimming and Black Rock is right next to it and easily accessible for good snorkeling. They have a couple small pools which aren't great but we didn't care about the pools when the beach is 5 steps away. There are a bunch of restaurants really close by at the fairway shops and then also a short drive or long walk to whaler's village for more shopping and eating. Overall, the resort was very clean with friendly and helpful, accommodating staff.

Avoid the villasPosted Oct 18, 2014
We checked into a villa, whose decor was 1950's. The drapes didn't fit the window, there was no desk, the cold water faucet in the shower was loose and could not turn off the water, and there were ants in the bathroom. After one night, we upgraded to the main building, which turned out to be fine.

Amazing beach and Ocean front room is great!!Posted Oct 17, 2014
Pros: The beach and our ocean front room.
Cons: Much wider parking spaces and more parking spots. Also, internet connection wasn't great in our room.
Location is great, rooms are recently renovated & clean, hotel staff is very helpful and always there to help. We had an ocean front room at the tower and we liked it a lot. Highly recommended!

A vacation in paradisePosted Oct 17, 2014
Pros: The staff, the rooms in the LK Tower, the restaurant and the best beach on the Kaanapali resort strip.
Cons: The parking lot was a challenge with skinny stalls and overcrowding when luau crowds arrive by 4 p.m. or so.
Location: Take the beach walk north or south to check out other properties, visit Whaler's Village about a mile south.
It truly was a memorable vacation at the Royal Lahaina Resort on famed Ka'anapali Beach, made even more fantastic by the terrific, friendly staff. Spent hours splashing in the surf on the best stretch of beach in the area. Quiet and not as busy as the crowded beaches on the south end of Kaanapali below Black Rock. Enjoy a fabulous meal in the Royal Ocean Terrace restaurant and lounge at the RLR. If not staying in the oceanview rooms in the LK Tower overlooking the pools and beach, stay higher up on the south side of the building in the partial ocean views. A great view of the beach, golf course and mountains. We originally were booked onto the north side of the tower on a lower floor above the lobby driveway. Was quite noisy with all the arrivals and departures but desk staff was quick to accommodate when we asked to move to a quieter room higher up on the south side. Everyone was so nice, everything felt so safe (hello Mexico!). Special kudos to bartender Victor, who gladly shared stories and gave great tips on sightseeing -- especially where to find the sea turtles at a nearby public beach without having to take an expensive snorkeling tour. Visit Whaler's Village and Front Street in Lahaina Town for more culinary treats and experiences. Rent a kayak from in front of the Maui Kaanapali Villas next to the RLR for $30 an hour instead of $40 an hour. Buy $10 boogie boards at the K-Mart near the airport. We will return to the Royal Lahaina for sure.

Great Balance of Nature and MainlandPosted Oct 15, 2014
Room was great. Bed was comfy. Bathroom was clean and shower was pretty. Hotel was in good condition, updated and current decor and facilities. Staff is very friendly and willing to help. Two pools, two bars. Walk down to the beach with easy access. Parking sucks if you self park. Operates on island time, so give yourself flex time.

Great LocationPosted Oct 14, 2014
Location is the best part about the hotel. Directly at Kaanapali Beach with a wonderful ocean right at your feet. Service did not meet 4-star-expectations. First day towels were not replaced, second day we got glasses with lipstick on it. Dirt on floor stayed for 4 days since room wasn't cleaned properly. Staff lacks Aloha spirit, especially at reception.

Second visit to Hawaii, first to MauiPosted Oct 12, 2014
Glad we chose this hotel. This hotel was separated from the others of this same stretch of beach by what is known as Black Rocks Beach. This meant that while we were in easy walking distance of all the other activities of the other hotels, the very long stretch of beach in front or this hotel wasn't crowded and perfect for taking that romantic beach walk with your significant other. One suggestion I would make to the hotel management is to move the evening live entertainment inside and not below the balconies of the ocean front rooms directly above. The rooms were kept very clean and comfortable. While there was complimentary in-room Keurig coffee available, we had to ask hotel staff to replenish what we used a few days during our 7 day stay.

We had a great experience at the hotel. Beach and swimming pools were great and well maintained. Staff were great. Food was excellent. Service was exceptional. Staff was very helpful. The only issue was the bed was small and uncomfortable.

Royal treatment at the Royal LahainaPosted Oct 8, 2014
Pros: Very friendly, accommodating staff. Restaurant, Store, and Ice-Cream Shop on the property. Beautiful grounds and direct Ka'anapali Beach access.
Cons: I don't know, but if there is... The Royal Lahaina Management will make it happen.
Location: Ka'anapali Beach. Snorkeling and unlimited beach activities. Whalers Shopping Center. The historic Lahaina Town. Iao Valley State Park. Haleakala.
Do you know what it’s like to have a wonderful experience somewhere, so nice that you make plans to return only to have the next experience to fall short of your expectations? This will never be the scenario at the Royal Lahaina Resort. We just completed our 4th two-week stay over the past 5 years. The only problem with our stay is that it had to come to an end. Checkout day is always a very sad day. The Royal Lahaina Resort sits directly on the Ka’anapali Beach and is conveniently located for easy access to many of the sites of Maui. The staff goes above and beyond to be accommodating to any reasonable request. We stay in a suite in the Tower, but there’s not a bad room on the property. Two very clean, family friendly pools sit between the rooms and the beach, but to be honest, we’ve never used either one with the direct access to the ocean and beach. The Royal Lahaina Resort has so much to offer, we have been known to not leave the property for a day or two at a time. Snorkeling can be a great experience right on the Ka’anapali shoreline. A coral reef, just down the beach, is full of beautiful fish and sea turtles. We noticed two nice room additions this year, a Keurig machine with complimentary coffee and tea and free in-room internet access. Thanks again to the staff of the Royal Lahaina for giving us (and everyone else) the Royal Treatment. We hope to see you again next year.
