not great but its ok

Posted May 27, 2015
Pros: Beach
Cons: Hotel should offer free beach chairs and umbrella for its customers. Customers should be able to get a new towel from the lobby.
Location: To see: Road to Hana, Baby Beach, Big/Little Beach Food: Mama's fish house, Kimo's, Hulu grill
Hotel: Close to beach, hotel staff is helpful however room condition and cleanness were horrible. There were many small ants in the bathroom and the room. Expensive beach chair and umbrella. Need to wait until 8 am to get a new towel from the pool. If you are planning on going early tours (usually tours start around 7am in the morning) I would recommend you to get your towels the day before your tour. Food: Tepenyaki rest was good. Breakfast at Black Rock Rest (can't recall the name) was not great, I would not spend money on that - Instead get a quick bite from Starbucks(the lobby). Smoothies at pool sneak bar were great.

Nice, but noisy.

Posted May 27, 2015
Pros: The pool and friendly staff.
Cons: The noise and blasting club music late night and into the early morning.
Location: Great beach and town within 10 minute drive. Lots to do and see.
My only issue was the late night "club" scene that started at 10PM and lasted until 1-2 in the morning. The music was so loud it kept me awake and I was unable to sleep with my door open to hear the ocean. If noises don't bother you, everything else was great.

Poor management

Posted May 27, 2015
Negatives: Front lobby staff, women - unaccommodating. Ordered king garden room, and did not receive so they insisted I downgrade vs upgrade. Not until two hours after checking in did we actually receive what we paid for. Even then it was presented as a favor, that they could provide us what we actually prepaid/ ordered. Blamed Expedia for not communicating the king room we ordered, diverting the responsibility from the hotel. Overall poor management everywhere you look. Not enough servers at pool bar and black rock kitchen. Black rock kitchen priced as premium fine dining, food not impressive. Ordered medium steak received well done. Slow service, insulting server. You'll need a map to get from fitness center to lobby to room to parking to dining - lots of walking and layout of resort makes little sense. Map provided to us by concierge for road to Hana had inaccuracies. Not to be relied on. Expensive for value - and $37/ night resort fee. Positives: nice beach, great snorkeling, nice pool, comfortable bed, safe location, friendly male staff.

Great location right on the Ocean.

Posted May 21, 2015
Pros: Great beach and beautiful pool. Beautiful landscaping and mountain views .
Location: Very close to restaurants and shopping as well as excursions.
We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. They did have some construction going on at the time of our stay but it didn't inconvenience us in any way. Great location right on the Ocean with a large beach. They also have a beautiful pool. We stayed in an ocean view suite which was a beautiful room with a great view of the Ocean and gorgeous scenery. Very clean rooms and really friendly staff. We will return to this hotel on our next visit.

Roach and leaks.

Posted May 21, 2015
Pros: Close to black rock.
Cons: Hotel desperately need a renovation.
Location: Snorkel near black rock and walking distance to Whaler Village.
There's a roach in our room hiding under coffee maker. Then there's water leaks under sink. Really bad. Management didn't even bother apologizing.

Customer Service Lacking

Posted May 20, 2015
The strong points of the hotel are the grounds and the beach. My view from our balcony was breathtaking and our room was very clean. The hotel does not have the "aloha spirit" and the customer service is lacking. The person who checked us in was borderline rude. The outside bar/grill needs a makeover. I was given a dirty paper menu and the service was not good. With more attention to detail and better customer service this would be an awesome hotel.

Pros: Snorkeling.
Cons: Need to fix roach problem. Need more attentive staff.
Roaches in room, in walkways and in clean towels. They gave me a small discount. Snorkeling is top notch!

Meh. Noisey. Overpriced. Outdated.

Posted May 18, 2015
Pros: Self-Parking was included in the restort fee. After separate parking fee and resort fee sat other hotel it feels better but its not really 'like'
Cons: The resort.
Location: beach is nice near buy.
Our room was next to elevator and heard it running at al hours. Other rooms at least may not have that problem, but then there was is construction noise all over the restort. Thats annoying too! And something was up with our door and would make whistling noises due to the wind (unless you put a towel under the door!) This may be ok if this was a budget hotel. But its not. For the price (and daily RESORT FEE!! of something like $35) the room should be resort like and at least quiet (and hopefully somewhat current decor). Do yourselves a favor and stay somewhere else. The pluses, happy hour at the bar. Cliff diving in the evening, cool swimming pool. (you can stay at the next resort and still check these things out. fyi)

close to the beach

Posted May 17, 2015
the main attarction of this hotel is that it is close to the beach and black rock where a good spot for snorkling. Breakfast buffet is expensive $30 per person. There is an open shopping mall 15 minutes walk by the beach and there is an ABC store where ypu can shope basic goods.. and also theres a lot of restaurant in that area called whalers village. i like sheraton bec the grounds is open and quite and not congested.
