Comfortable, pleasant hotel right on the water

Posted Sep 20, 2014
Pros: It seemed more casual and comfortable than some of the other hotels I visited during my stay. Service was top notch.
Location: A short walk to the Whaler's Village shopping mall as well as several other large resorts with excellent dining. It's a ten minute drive to Lahaina.
Sheraton Maui Resort is a rambling, comfortable place with good people, a variety of things to do on the grounds, a nice stretch of beach, a lovely pool, and excellent bar and dining facilities. Even the less favored rooms are comfortable, clean, and well suited for a relaxing holiday. The staff was well organized and able to help at every turn.

Great location, Great Staff, OK experience.

Posted Sep 18, 2014
Pros: Friendly, helpful, professional staff. Great views. Beautiful, well-maintained grounds. Nice beach, nice pool. Convenient location.
Cons: Needs updating, but there are signs (literally) that they are doing this. No DVD player in room. No free Wi-Fi. Sound-proofing please. Fees, fees.
Location: Great location. Close to many things. Beautiful beach. Nice pool. Whaler's Village (shopping) right down the street. Downtown Lahaina close too.
Check-in was pretty fast and we were given a free room upgrade (always ask !!) to one with an ocean view for no extra charge. The room was small, but nice and clean. Our balcony had great views of the grounds and the beach. Staff was always willing to assist and very friendly throughout our stay. There was no DVD player. This is one of the new, hidden ways for a hotel to make money. Instead of putting in a $30 DVD player; they offer you on demand movies for $14.99 a pop. And the fees. Mandatory breakfast fees ? Parking fees ? Wi-fi fees ? But one of the worst things about this hotel has to be the absolute lack of sound-proofing. Every time someone's door closed, anywhere on our floor, it sounded like someone was slamming a vault door closed. The entire hallway vibrated. You could hear people in the next room, (above, below, and both sides). You could hear people walking down the hallway. Some of them were loud, but most of the time it was just normal conversation. They also have many large groups that stay here on junkets. They really cater to these groups and I got the feeling (though not through actions or anything overt) that this was where the hotel's attention was focused. The restaurant served very expensive, very average dinners as well. I guess that is why the one time we ate there; we were pretty much alone. So much to offer, but so much opportunity to improve as well. Did I mention the fees?

Great location, just needs a few tweaks

Posted Sep 13, 2014
Pros: The pool and the beach
Cons: Rooms a little tired. Didn't need the phone calls from the Starwood Preferred Guest desk.
The hotel is situated on a lovely beach, with a great swimming pool. Staff were friendly enough. A great location within easy walking distance to the Whalers Village. The hotel room we had was a little tired and need of a refresh. We were initially billed for valet parking each day even though we hadn't used it, and double-billed for a dinner, so I recommend checking your invoice carefully at check-out. With a few tweaks - this would be a great resort!
