Great resort, mediocre rooms

Posted Feb 22, 2015
Pros: The resort grounds were awesome, the pool was great, staff was largely very good. We had a great time.
Cons: See above.
Location: Leilani's beachfront grill in Whaler's Village was our favorite restaurant; the fish tacos were incredible!! Maui Brewing Company was a close second.
We stayed at the Sheraton Maui for our honeymoon for 10 days. We had reserved a king bed room 5 months prior, and when we arrived they did not have a king bed room for us. The receptionist was not apologetic at all about this. The room itself was on the first floor, with a lot of people traffic causing noise, the AC barely worked, the room wasn't that clean, and the water pressure was terrible. When I called the manager about this, he was more apologetic, and did send workmen to assess the above mentioned problems, but couldn't get us into a king room any sooner. We were able to transfer into a king room 3 days later, which was also very inconvenient. The king room was better- quieter, cleaner, the AC worked better, but the bathroom sink was leaking all over the floor. And then, one night, the fire alarm on our floor only, went off and woke us up. Again, the same unapologetic receptionist did nothing to allay our concerns. On our second to last day at the hotel, a staff member knocked on our door and asked why we haven't left yet - they had us as checking out a day earlier than planned. We had already paid for 10 nights, so we were reall upset about this. Because of all of the hassle they caused us, my husband called the manager again, who did waive 5 days of resort fees for us, which helped. The resort grounds were incredible; the pools, beach area, and staff were all wonderful. The resort restaurants were very over-priced, but I guess that's par for the course in Maui.

Horrible!!!

Posted Feb 19, 2015
Pros: The view
Cons: Customer service
Location: Surrounding locations were great. We spent all of our time on other hotel sights. The Westin and Hyatt were close by.
We did not have a good experience. First, I booked my hotel room back in September for a Kind Bed. When we checked in I was told that they were sold out and all they had available were double queen beds. We agreed and then two days later they told us they found a King room. We moved all of our luggage into another room and it was a even worse. The shower flooded the bathroom floor every time we used it and there was no vanity for you to put your things. I went and talked to a customer service rep and they were SO RUDE! I was appalled by how rude they were. So I went to another person and all they said there was nothing they could do. We basically felt like they didn't care that we were having these problems. I don't understand why we would even make reservations 5 months ahead of time if we are not going to be guaranteed them. Over half way through our stay we moved into another room and by this point we were over it. My husband and I spent a lot of money to go on vacation and the Maui Sheraton could not have been a bigger disappointment to us. We will NEVER stay at another one.

Sheraton Hotel, Maui

Posted Feb 19, 2015
Pros: The hotel staff was very friendly, and I liked the open design, and grounds were immaculately maintained.
Cons: The air conditioning blew on our faces as we slept. Perhaps they can rearrange the furniture so this doesn't occur.
Location: There are a few shopping centers & restaurants, luaus, beautiful beaches, and you can also drive to water falls & bamboo forest.
The room was not new, but had a great view, was kept clean, and the hotel staff was quite friendly. The maid provided us with extra towels we requested promptly. We had a great stay.

Beautiful resort in West Maui!

Posted Feb 9, 2015
Pros: Big room, great views, nice pool and garden areas, helpful friendly staff and close to the beach.
Location: Only a short drive to Kapalua for some amazing golf and beaches, the Old Lahaina Luau is only an 8 minute drive and was a great way to spend the night
My girlfriend and I enjoyed 3 nights here. The pool and grounds were very well kept. The food and drink service by the pool was amazing as were the restaurants on site. The hotel is set right on the beach at black rock which was ideal. The snorkelling around black rock was some of the best we experienced on the island. We even saw a green sea turtle swimming just off the rocks. Staff were very attentive and helpful. The room was spacious and clean. We got upgraded to a ocean view room which was the perfect way for us to kick off our holiday in Maui. If we ever get the opportunity to return to Maui we would definitely stay at the Sheraton again.

An absolutely beautiful resort.

Posted Feb 9, 2015
Pros: Personnel was courteous and efficient. The rooms were clean and the beds were excellent
Cons: Rules posted should be enforced
Location: A beautiful beach walk miles long gave us lots of pleasure
Arriving shortly after midnight the room we requested and paid for was not available. We were assigned a different room the following day but never did get the garden view room we paid for in advance. The gardens are beautiful and lounge chairs are plentiful. Often the shady locations were taken early in the morning and although discouraged by the resort were not available as guests placed a towel or book on the lounge and kept it the entire day. The daily resort fee is high and on top of the room rate which amounted significantly for a 14 day stay. The location is beautiful and relatively close to Lahaina, travelling to Kahului and Kihei took us long during the day because of heavy traffic. Dining at the resorts is very expensive even for simple breakfasts and lunches.

Missing Some Basic Comforts

Posted Feb 7, 2015
Pros: Room was clean and comfortable. Beach was very nice. Concierges were very helpful arranging trips.
Cons: Pool towels are cheap, old and small.
I can't remember complaining about a hotel before. Most have all the basic comforts down and you usually end up getting what you pay for. Not so, here. My first room was next to the elevator, and you could hear it running during the quiet hours - late evening and early morning. I asked to be moved, which they accommodated. My next room reeked of mold. Because we were eager to get our vacation started and we were getting annoyed at unpacking then packing to move, we let it go. But, I have to wonder - did they purposefully move us to this room because we complained? Worse, if they did not know the room smelled moldy, why not? Add this to inconvenient pool, Jacuzzi and towel hut hours (everything closes early for a "fun" resort) and very few dining options (burger vs. luxury dining). I won't stay here again. There are plenty of other choices.

im Grossen und Ganzen recht gut

Posted Feb 5, 2015
