"Great hotel with a fantastic view."
We stayed at the Hyatt Regency last week and loved it! We had a deluxe ocean front view and I must say the view was spectacular. I really enjoyed getting up early, sitting out on the balcony, drinking coffee and watching the surf. The room included breakfast which was a pretty nice buffet. We wouldn't have paid for it - way too expensive - but it was nice since it was included. The room was nice, beds were comfortable and plenty of space for the 3 of us. Overall, we really enjoyed the stay.

"ONE DIRTY SECRET"
I gave a 5-star rating, because the hotel is excellent. In fact, the staff is over-the-top excellent. However, BEWARE this ONE DIRTY SECRET. We booked an upgraded room ("Ocean View Room") through Expedia. The room was extremely nice inside, and we could (with difficulty) see the ocean from the balcony. However, most of our view from the balcony consisted of what appeared to be a permanent construction/dumping area (with permanent dumpsters) and a large parking lot. It was ugly, ugly, ugly. The next morning I phoned Expedia, and I asked for help. Expedia called the hotel and got us a new room on the opposite side of the hotel. It was the same room inside, but the balcony had a beautiful view of the ocean and a beautiful view of very pretty plants and greenery. THANK GOODNESS FOR EXPEDIA, because the hotel manager was "deaf" to my requests about the first room. Expedia even got the hotel to have its staff move all our possessions -- we didn't have to lift a finger. BEWARE booking a room on the "wrong side" of this hotel.

"12 great days in Wailea, Maui, HI"
This time we didn't want to stay at a Condo (usually we stay at the Palms of Wailea).... Instead, we decided to stay right on the beach. Fairmont Kea Lani was a superb hotel... the rooms are all suites and very large. Not cheap! Specially after having to pay an additional $30 (+tax) daily Resort Fee. There is something to be said for ALL-INCLUSIVES or staying at a condo and cooking.... Our Breakfasts were $34 per person for the Buffet and ordering anything less expensive didn't make sense as it cost more in the end once you add $6 for coffee, etc., etc. We tried a lot of the surrounding restaurants in Wailea and Kihei. Nick's at the hotel was great (of course quite expensive as you can imagine)... but eating in Maui in general is VERY EXPENSIVE. The beach and the pool areas at the Fairmont were fabulous. Our room got cleaned in the morning and we had turn-down service in the evening when they changed all our towels as well. The high-light of our trip was waking up early every morning and going for a long walk on the Oceanfront pathway, which meanders along all the hotels and oceanfront villas/condos and takes you all the way to Kihei (almost). The scenery was spectacular, the hotel properties/grounds along the path with manicured landscapes are really unique. A MUST to see. We had a car (Cheap! $15/day) and drove to Kapalui for Happy Hour at Merrymen's 3 to 5PM... excellent location and great food. Finished off our last day at the famous Mama's Fish House... near the airport

"Family friendly vacation spot"
The room was a decent size, great view of the pond, pool, and a slither of ocean. Kids loved the large size bathtub with jets for bubble baths. Friendly hotel staff, but don't expect more than what you paid for. Because they're a timeshare location, they're not generous on the upgrade, just the best room location given what you purchased. Clean outdoor BBQ grills are great. Not quite like home, but pretty close. We got a room in the North complex and everything was newly renovated, so no complaints about the quality of the bedding and mattresses. The Kaanapali beach was the best part of the stay. The location is excellent. It's just far enough from all the general tourist traffic in Kaanapali passing through, but great shuttle service to Lahaina and main Kaanapali mall area. Would definitely return.

"nice get away resort, very relaxing"
Very relax setting, peaceful and beautiful. We booked an sea ranch cottage, it is only about 80 feet from the ocean. they don't allow kids and pets on the sea ranch side, so this side is always quite and noise free. Room is very resort like, a little bit outdated, but still acceptable. They do offer a lot of activities, most are free which is nice. (the 3 holes course was not well maintained though, glasses were too high and greens were way too slow makes it impossible to putt.) Dinner choice is limited at Hana, this is a minus staying at hana. There was confusion at check-out, the staff was trying to charge me extra person fee given only me and my wife stayed here. She said, I booked the room for only 1 person, so my wife was considered extra......at the end, Manager Danny waived it for us. (though I still found it to be unbelievable, resort is charging extra person fee on the 2nd guest?? :-( The manager Danny was very nice, he sent us a bottle of wine to our next room in Ritz Carlton for our anniversary. :-) For this trip to Maui, which is my 1st time to Maui, I booked 3 hotels at 3 different locations on the island, Travaasa end up being the most relaxing and beautiful one. next time I am back to Maui, I will certainly come back here....this is what a Hawaii vacation is supposed to feel like.
