beautiful resort property with an intimate feel

Pros: everything (other than the expense of food and beverage). also liked the shuttle service to nearby stores/restaurants.
Cons: it would be nice to have music piped in around the pools. The food at all the restaurants/deli was ok, not fabulous.
Location: excellent. on the ocean, which has a walking path that connects the other resorts. nice way to check out the other places.
Loved the room which was a suite (they all are). very nice staff, friendly and accommodating. the property is absolutely beautiful

Great accommodations

Pros: Bathrooms were large and very nice. It was obvious there had been a recent remodel.
Cons: Beach area is not very big.
Location: Luau at Marriott nearby was excellent. Unfortunate there are no roadways from Wailea-Makena area to central Maui (have to drive all the way north.)
Great accommodations and awesome experience. This was our first time to Maui and we are likely to stay here again when we come back. Separate living and sleeping areas a plus. Having a compact frig and microwave allowed us to have breakfast and some lunches in the hotel when we didn't feel like going out. Deli downstairs also very convenient. It was nice having umbrellas available at the beach (no extra cost, just sign for it). There is also complimentary sun screen and ice water at the beach as well. There were a couple places within five min drive to rent wet suit tops for snorkeling (Snorkel Bob's and Maui Dive Shop). Also many nearby restaurants to choose from.

Family friendly hotel; adult pool too; amazing views of the ocean; spacious suites; beautiful path aling the ocean to other hotels; loved everything about it and would strongly recommend it!!

Great spot, costs a bomb

The setting was lovely. They gave us little buckets and a coconut shell necklace for the kids. They made us feel very welcome by the pool while our room was made ready. The pool staff were attentive though it did take a long time to receive your order. The hotel is enormous, the waterslide a favorite for the kids. The only downside is the expense. We spent more here in 3 days than for the first week of our holidays in Lahaina (which inc a helicopter trip and whale watching). Everything is 3x what you would pay elsewhere and that's on top of your resort fee. On that we were told on arrival the fee was already paid for in our room charges - not so on departure when the staff insisted I'd suffered a miscommunication. Would I recommend it, probably with warnings re cost. Would I go back, probably no.

Too many naughty children!

I can't believe how many people bring 3-4 or more little kids to Hawaii! Being a 5 Star Hotel I expected more adults, but got spoiled, undisciplined brats! Annoying! My only serenity was the adult pool/area, but these kids were horsing around on the hammock and running around the adult lawn area! I really enjoyed the property and well as the staff. I would like to come back just not at spring break time.

nice hotel but way over-priced

Pros: The architecture was the only appealing thing about this hotel.
Cons: Better access and organization in relation to lounge chairs and a better menu for poolside treats and snacks
The room was nice but the view was not what I expected for such an expensive hotel. There was a umbrella stuck in the tree right outside our ground floor room and someone's wet shorts wrapped around the same tree. Not a very appealing sight to look out onto. The food was not what I expected from a Fairmont Hotel. The pastries were stale and not very satisfying and the morning brunch was downright disappointing. The meal was ordinary and without flavour. The so-called freshly squeezed orange juice was undrinkable and tasted like someone had spiked it with linseed oil. The waffles were unappealing and without taste and there was no compote to supplement the lack of flavour on the waffles. All in all, we had a very disappointing stay for so much money that I would have been more satisfied by sleeping on the beach and just burning the money because I felt that for what I paid, it was not worth it.

Quiet hotel

Our stay at the Fairmont was exceptional, having never been there before. We won't hesitate to make this an annual experience. The rooms are a good size and the staff were outstanding.

Beautiful Resort in Wailea

Pros: The lobby, staff, spa, open-ocean-breeze hallways. Car service to nearby points of interest. Hospitality suite available if needed upon check out.
Cons: Self-parking is VERY tight (nobody parks within their lines)… watch the dings on your car rental! Dining prices will hurt here.
Location: Wailea is a beautiful area, but very expensive. If you want a luxurious hotel, stay here. But leave the property for the real Maui experience.
This hotel is 5-star. Top notch. You are welcomed with an Hawaiian Lei and Passion-Orange-Guava juice. The entire experience at the Fairmont is a positive one (with exception of self-parking in the very tight spots). Highly recommended.
