No heat in pool!

Posted Mar 25, 2014
After staying for 8 days with 14 people in our party, these were our collective comments. Super friendly staff. Great people working in a just ok some what dated resort. Biggest complaint was the pool temp. Not one guest was able to swim or use pool due to fridged temps. Even on the warmest days, you could bearly sit with your feet on the edge. After discussing with other frustrated guests, one even said the pool heater was broken over 4 years ago!! And still not fixed. Management said it would be fixed but 8 days later... It still was unusable! Other comments were old mattresses, badly stained and old furnature in deluxe suites. No wifi and tv problems in 5 out of 6 rooms! Very expensive bar and pool drinks and food. Breakfast buffet was over 50 per person! Overall, if we did return to Maui, we would definitely stay somewhere else.

Aloha Stella, I’m pleased that you enjoyed the service you experienced from our Ladies and Gentlemen as that is something in which we take great pride. That said, we also strive to provide the finest facilities and I deeply regret that this was not something you experienced during your stay. We are in the process of upgraded a few areas of our resort and I apologize this had a negative impact on your stay. Thank you again for sharing your feedback and we hope that you will consider a future stay with us. Me Ke Aloha Pumehana, Ian McPhee, Hotel Manager.

Hotel is good but not the best weather

Posted Mar 24, 2014
Pros: Facilities
Cons: Timings were weird...things would close at different points of day that you would not expect. For example, coffee shop closes at 2.30 PM
I feel that our timing was wrong but the other parts of Maui were bright with little rain but Kapalua was wet and cloudy.

Expected a 5 star experience, not quite.

Posted Mar 17, 2014
Pros: Great beach, grounds, views. The king bed was outstanding. Very pleasant greeting at arrival. Yard maintenance personnel were discreet and consistent.
Cons: Housekeeping was not up to par. They had not removed food items from previous occupants. We were allowed to run out of facial and even toilet paper!
Location: Kapalua is super. Great dining nearby, though a bit spendy at the resort. Zip line was a kick. The community store was really convenient. Great golf.
My wife and I wanted to treat ourselves...splurge...on a 10 day stay in Maui beyond our customary accommodations to celebrate our anniversary. Unfortunately, we perceived the stay to be considerably less luxurious than expected. We ended up feeling as if we hadn't ordered and shelled out enough for the added luxury. Kind of a B class treatment vs. what must have been reserved for the Suite folks. For some reason I expected more attention to the detail than our normal vacation locations. I also feel the added 'resort' and 'self-parking' fees were tacky.

Aloha Ron, While I was glad to learn you found our beach, grounds and views to be great and had a pleasant arrival, I was disappointed to learn the overall experience did not exceed your expectations. We strive to consistently exceed the expectations of each and every guest while providing the finest personal service in all areas. We deeply regret that you received anything less than first class service. Regarding your concerns with the Housekeeping service, please be assured that your comments will be shared with the team to investigate how this happened. I thank you again for sharing your overall experience. Me Ke Aloha Pumehana (with warmest regards), Ian McPhee, Hotel Manager.

Beautiful hotel location.

Amazing views on the property, friendly staff, and very accommodating for families. The Ambassador program for kids is great option for the kids. It's more expensive, but we usually only do 1 big family vacation a year.

Luxurious hotel

Posted Feb 20, 2014
Pros: hotel facility like pools and landscape.
Cons: After reservation, I know there are extra parking fee and facility usage fee. Please tell us this hotel policy before reservation.
When I made the reservation, I thought I paid all fees. But they charged extra parking fee and facility usage fee. This hotel policy makes me uncomfortable. When I was using my notebook, an ant was moving on the display. After that I could not find any ants.

Hard to find a better place to stay !!

Posted Feb 15, 2014
Pros: All of it !!
Location: At the hotel there are several pools, a golf course, tennis courts, walking/jogging trails, access to the beach and plenty of restaurants.
The Ritz-Carlton Kapalua was extraordinary. Right from the start the staff treated us wonderfully, constantly asking us if we needed anything. The facility and the grounds were spectacular, with a multi-tiered pool, Jacuzzi's, several restaurants, a great workout area and lots of places to walk. We had requested a room with a view of the ocean and we were not disappointed with a great view of the water. The room was very nice and we almost felt a bit guilty not spending more time in it. We ate at three of the restaurants and the food was delicious at each one. Overall a wonderful experience that ended to quickly!!

always great at the Ritz

Pros: Beautiful hotel and grounds and great staff and service throughout
Location: Make sure to check out the Comedy Magic show in Lahaina. This was the best part of our week. (Warren and Annebelle's.)
Stayed in an ocean view residential suite for 9 nights. Loved the room and service throughout the hotel and the great guys at the valet!

Well worth the money!!

Posted Feb 6, 2014
Pros: Staff (friendly and outgoing), grounds (beautiful), rooms (spacious), pools, golf course, general store within walking distance
If you want peace and quite away from the tourist areas in Maui, book the Ritz Carlton! The staff is outstanding, the grounds immaculate and beautiful, and the rooms are spacious and accomodating. We were within a 10 minute drive to Kaanapali (variety of restaurants, bars, and sprawling public beaches) and could easily book whale watching, snorkeling, etc on site. Again, if you really want a peaceful vacation and time to relax...book the Ritz Carlton.

Luxury in Kapalua

Posted Feb 4, 2014
Pros: Everything, but, ultimately, I was willing to pay the price for 2 nights. It was worth the price! I liked being greeted by everyone!
Cons: The computer system never seemed to be accurate, why is that, with such a luxury brand and such excellent programers these days? It was all ok
Location: It is in Kapalua, northern part of island, so it is more windy, but has its own beach front all to yourself! Walked to Sansei 5 min walk from the hote
Well, it was on sale, so, we needed 2 nights after renting a condo for a week. The price was right, the Hotel is Superb, landscaping, staff, amenities, pools. It has its own beach front, easy to walk right in to the ocean, no high surf, just easy waves. Glad we decided to have lunch on the Beach front, not only were the drinks excellent, at a decent price, but, the food was so delicious and fresh! Waitress scored big points too! The bed was very comfortable. Everyone greets you, wherever you are!
