“Perfect Honeymoon”
I was a little hesitant from reading all the reviews before our trip. We switched our hotel last minute from the Hyatt to the Westin because of renovations at the Hyatt. This is our honeymoon, so we did not want to deal with any renovations. We were extremely pleased with every aspect of the hotel. The staff was fantastic, the hotel grounds were very beautiful. Our room was great; yes, you can see signs of usage in the rooms like mentioned in previous posts, but what do you expect?! It's a hotel! I think they did a great job with the interior design to try to update the outdated rooms. The bed was extremely comfortable, they greeted us with complimentary champagne, and our entire experience at the Westin was positive. We can't wait to go back!
“All in One”
This hotel had everything we needed. If we hadn't have been interested in seeing the whole island, we could have spent our entire stay at the resort. The shuttle service was convenient, and the concierge was overly helpful. The perfect all in one.
“Great hotel, beds too small”
The only "bad" about the hotel is the double beds, too small, although they are very comfortable! The pool area is absolutely wonderful!
“KID FRIENDLY ~ not a romantic get away”
The hotel was great for us because we have two children. This is not a romantic, quiet get away. We thought it was perfect for our family, but when my husband and I came alone two years previous, we stayed in a much smaller, quieter, no kids hotel. The rooms are VERY small but clean and suit the purpose of just sleeping in. Beautiful hotel, with gorgous grounds, lots of great EXPENSIVE food and drinks.
“Loved it”
I would go back in a heart beat. Did not stay long enough.
“Wouldn't go back to this hotel”
We stayed at the Westin in October 2011, there was a general air of disrepair about the hotel. Peeling wallpaper, and every pool at the hotel has broken tiles, not cleanly or safe for peope with children like myself. I would not recommend staying here, we asked to stay until 2pm because out flight left at 9pm, we were told no. This is off season and there should have been no reason why, especially since the hotel wasn't full, that we couldn't stay until then. We also went to the hotel's luau, complete garbage. We waited in line, paid a lot of money per ticket, and the food was awful.
“Great Outdoor Recreation Area”
We were very happy with the outdoor pool area at the Westin. It was extensive and a lot of fun! Also right on the beach, and new beach towels whenever you need them. The only thing we didn't like was the fact that they changed our room to a spot with a view of a roof from which loud music came out of on some nights. The rooms could use some updating but were cleaned well and were very comfortable and a good size. The amenities were worth the resort fee, but food was a little pricey. Overall great experience! Try the breakfast buffet!
“I loved the hotel and definetely would stay again.”
I had a small problem. It is a non-smoking hotel and we are non-smokers. When I entered our room it smelled of smoke. Cigarette smoke. When we looked out on the lanei, there were cigarette butts all over the place. They offered to change our room but we were with friends who had the room next door to us and we were reluctant to change rooms. As a result every time we entered the room we could smell that smoke. It was in the curtains and carpeting.
“Great time at the Westin”
The hotel is even more beautiful than any pictures express! It was beautiful and the staff was very helpful and friendly. The location was fabulous, the beach was beautiful. I would definitely recommend this hotel and I would definitely stay here again. With that said the only two things that were less than ideal were the plumbing and the food prices. We had to move rooms on the second day because there was water bubbling up our sink randomly.... and the food at the hotel is outrageous. It was good, but just really expensive. I know that you can expect that in Hawaii, but it was more than other restaurants and hotels. They should consider a complimentary continental breakfast or at least a very reasonably priced breakfast package. All in all, a great place, a great trip and we would definitely visit again!
“Older property, but did the trick”
Good intro to Hawaii. Would try the Sheraton next time (closer to Black Rock, and Sheraton seemed more lively.) Food is expensive everywhere, but few hotel restaurants delivered appropriate value (price, uniqueness, variety.) But good fish with the usual crusted this, sauce on that. Great pool and service. same mediocre food poolside, though. Bed was awesome. Room/lanai (ocean view) worth the money! Parking was fine, despite reviews to the contrary. When the self-park was full, they posted a sign and we valeted on the hotel. Interesting mix of people. Not gay inclusive, per se, so would head somewhere more open next time. But that can be said of most US cities. Overall...dive in, it's a great resort and on par with other similar priced resorts in the 4 star category. Have fun! It's Hawaii!
