“Great place to stay, great location!”

Loved my stay at The Whaler. We wanted something relaxing, with a great location, and that's exactly what we got! The service was wonderful, and it's right on the beach in the prime location. Would definitely stay here again!

    “Perfect Setting”

Located on an ideal beach, close to shopping, snorkeling within walking distance, and just a beautiful stretch of beach and landscape around the hotel. Very friendly and helpful staff. Loved the size and layout of the room, and the kitchenette was perfect for our needs. The ONLY drawback was the construction currently taking place on the entire two buildings of the complex -- made for long, noisy days in and nearby the hotel while on the beach close by, but a short walk down to another stretch of beach and the problem was solved!

The whole northern/eastern coast was gorgeous and we only saw half of Maui! Tons to do and see, and you can either make the trip as busy or as leisurely as you like -- either way, it was phenominal!

    “Great Location/Exceptional Staff”

We loved the location of the the Whaler. Shopping and restaurants were in easy walking distance. The beach and view in front of the hotel was exceptional. The staff was very professional and helpful. The Concierge was able to book a snorkeling activity for us and helped us get the best rate. There is construction going on at this time, but it did not in anyway affect our stay in terms of comfort and amenities, the pool was crystal clear, the grounds well kept, parking was not affected and so forth. The only negative would be the "critters" we occasionally saw in our kitchen. That said, the kitchen was spotless, there was no food or paper products laying about, so we attributed that to the ongoing construction. I would highly recommend this hotel and would use it again.

Lahaina is a great town with several good restaurants, historical landmarks, and an excellent wharf. The area north of the resort on Route 30 has breathtaking views, with easy pullouts for viewing and picture taking. There are several public guarded beaches close by. West Maui is the place to be in Hawaii.

    “Whalers”

My wife and I both loved our room but the hotel was under construction. We were aware when we booked but had not realized what this would mean during the week while construction was going on. We were not able to enjoy the lanai very much and the noice started promptly at 8am. The room and staff however were very nice and we would gladly stay here again once construction on complete.

Whalers at Kaanapali was a great location, beautiful beach and short walk down to black rock for some great snorkling.
    Dining
Hula Grill in Whalers Village was a nice place to relax and a short walk from our hotel. We sat at the bar so we didn't have to wait for a table. The Goat cheese pizza was great and we loved the Maui Brewery beer selections.
    Outdoors or beach
Walk to Black Rock and snorkel there. Tons of fish and saw 4 sea turtles all for free. Great place to snorkle and avoid the pricy boats.

“Needs work. Lot of cockroaches and found two dead rats on the grounds.”

Realizing that the building is under remodel construction the overall facility was satisfactory. The towel staff was very much into themselves and loved to visit with there cell phones and seemed put out when you asked them for an questions. They same with the room service in regard to extra dish towels, and other very smal services. The roaches in the kitchen area as well as dishwasher were too much. And when we saw the two dead rats, one on the lawn by the pool which was there for two days and the other by the outdoor showers when you was the sand off your feet. I did ask the towel person to PLEASE remove them. They did not a goof curb appeal to THE WHALERS.

Our family with the children stayed at the WESTON because it was more kid friendly and we stayed at the WHALERS because we wanted a small condo and quieter place. BOY where we mistaken.

    “Best Place Ever”

The hotel was located on a beautiful stretch of beach, with great snorkeling (sea turtles and fish)right down the boardwalk. The staff was soo nice and helpful, located right next to whaler's village where you can watch free hula shows. Rooms very nice and comfortable.

    Getting around
A car is no neccessary, especially if its your first time visiting Maui, theres plenty of public transportaion thats easy to use. If you can rent a car, i would, just so you can get to some really great beaches that are a pain to get to by bus or foot.

    “Great Stay”

We stayed at this hotel from July 18-22 in room 164 tower 2. All should understand that this hotel is undergoing an exterior re-model. However, even though there are workers from around 8am to 430 pm it did not affect our stay nor did we let it be apart of our vacation. With that said, the hotel was perfect on the water as stated and right next door to Whalers village. The grounds were smaller but beautiful. There is a small pool and jacuzzi but who cares the beach is right there. We love to snorkel so we just rented the equipment for 8 dollars for 2 hours and went down to Black Rock which is down to the right of the hotel along the beach. It was great as soon as we were in the water there were fish everywhere! We even swam with 2 sea turtles later in the week. A perfect place to snorkel. Don't pay the $100 to go on a trip to see the same stuff. OK Whalers village has three restaurants right there is you need food. The room had a full kitchen so you can just go down to Safeway in Lahaina get a Safeway card and buy all the food you want for the room. There is a small gym there but everyone either walks or runs the beach front trail in the morning up and back was about 2.2 miles. We found some graham crackers on the floor under our bed so we were not sure how clean the maid really was but the room was always made up and refreshed when we returned. Overall we had a great trip and would stay here again.

Lahaina is a great place to shop on Front street and watch the sunset. It does have a Hard Rock Hotel and Bubba Gump Shrimp along with a Cheeseburger in paradise. Kaanapaali is a tourist spot but it was great as there are many things to do there. I
    Events and shows
Do not go see the Kaanapali beach club Luau. Not recommended. Instead go see the Old Lahaina show.
