"Outstanding resort for families."
We enjoyed Honua Kai and beautiful Maui. This is a new resort and everything is built with quality in mind. Pool slide was the highlight for my kids. The beach acess is excellent with good snorkeling right on the beach. Duke restaurant serves by the pool... or if you are on a budget you can walk to the grocery store and get supplies for the full kitchen in your condo. Enjoy!

"Hawaii Dream Escape"
We loved the hotel. The rooms in the tower were really nice. Looked like they were recently remodeled. The Royal Lahina is right next to two of the best snorkel areas around West Maui. We originally wanted to stay in the Hyatt but when we later had brunch there we discovered the beach in front of the Hyatt was not even swimmable. There were huge rocks and no beach. The Royal Lahina on the other hand fronts a spectacular beach and is right next to Black Rock where there was great snorkeling. The hotel restaurant was pretty good and the bar has a great happy hour from 2pm-6pm. Only complain was there were not enough lounge chairs by the pool. Stay here and you will not be disappointed. Would stay here again!

"Peaceful stay at the ocean"
This was the third time we have stayed at this hotel. It has recently changed management and we can see the difference. The staff is friendlier and the grounds and rooms seem to have been upgraded, or better maintained. We love the fact that because of the buildings age, the windows go floor to ceiling and edge to edge - new building codes don't allow solid walls of glass anymore and the closeness of the ocean. On the higher floors, you cannot even see people because of the unobstructed, close to the coast view. Because there is no real "beach", there is not a lot of noisy activity under your room. Don't stay here if you want resort amenities - but do if you want a quiet, peaceful, beautiful view, away from the madness of Lahaina, but close to everything. It is inexpensive compared to other hotels, but really, that's not why we stay here!

"Hawaiian Hotel - spacious gardens on the beach"
The Kaanapali Beach Hotel is a very relaxed, friendly hotel right on the beach at Kaanapali on Maui. It has large gardens where one can easily find space to put a deck chair in or out of the sun and enjoy the warm Maui breeze. The sea temperature is gorgeous and is right in front of the hotel, but there is also a whale shaped pool in the centre of the gardens for guests who prefer not to swim in the sea. There are a range of room rates, from absolute beach front to partial sea view, garden view etc. I have stayed twice in the beach front rooms where it has been a pleasure to watch passers by on the beach walk, and the sun set in the evenings. The Kaanapali beach isn't a luxury hotel like some others along the Kaanapali strip, but the warmth and friendliness of its staff, and the hawaiian aloha they cultivate will keep you returning for more.
