It was great experience

We arrived in hotel at around 1800hrs. A good welcome by staff. I had booked a room with buffet breakfast. Since we are pure vegetarians we could not find food of our taste, Staff was so helpful they immediately called the chef for our demand, we requested for aloo pratha ( indian taste) specially for only two of us. Trust me, they provided us the best breakfast, we enjoyed the breakfast. For next 3 days when we came for breakfast they treated us nicely with food of our choice. Ambiance of the hotel was very good. We enjoyed water activities in the resort. It was great experience. I would definitely prefer the same resort for my next trip.

Over Rated Hotel

Stay was ok, not as if we were expecting. But there are 3 star hotels in the area which give far better services. Rooms are not so good. We have stayed in better rooms in a 3 star hotels. Few things which I found extra ordinary was their buffet breakfast and their hotel campus. Overall, it is not value for money.

Mediocraty all over

Pros: Water sports
Cons: Poorly trained staff. Poor value for money in comparisson with other places in Mauritius we stayed at.
Evertyhting about this hotel is mediocre - seemingly friendly staff but mostly poorly trained and bored, decent food selection but not tasting too great, spacious rooms but in a need of updating and cheesy and loud night entertainment. Pretends to be a 4* hotel (with prices set accordingly) but in European standards it is a weak 3*. Fairly remote location with ridiculously expensive taxi's (fixed 'hotel' rate of 500 rupees i.e. GBP10 for a 4-5 minute one-way journey to Grand Baie ) force you to spend most of the time in the hotel where they will try to rip you off in any way possible. I would dread to go there for a honeymoon! Recommended only to fans of huge all-inclusive hotels and spending holidays around a swimming pool.

Attractive location and close to Grand Baie

The Canonnier is a comfortable hotel and the location is very good. The service was excellent, friendly and prompt and the facilities in the hotel are excellent. Unfortunately our bed was not comfortable. It was very basic and hard, and for this I would not stay there again. Also, the cost of drinks was ridiculously high, the cocktails were half the size and twice the price of those served in bars in Grand Baie and the wine was of poor quality and extremely expensive.
