The hotel is beautiful and we loved the position. We had a privilege room which was lovely, close to the pool/reception and thankfully meant we weren’t disturbed by the bar/restaurant next door. The staff were in the main really nice and friendly but often quite slow/disorganised. Drink orders sometimes took forever to arrive, something was forgotten at least half the time, the wrong drink delivered etc. Breakfast and dinner are buffet style and I found it quite off putting that the food is uncovered when there are a lot of flies and birds in the restaurant area. A few people we spoke to (us included) had dodgy tummies for a couple of days. Lunch was a la carte and better. The cost of drinks and food for those not on all inclusive is extortionate meaning the hotel bar was pretty dead in the evening. Some of the evening musical entertainment was brilliant (the band of 3 particularly).

Very good. Some small could be improved.
Great location for access by foot to Grand Baie. Just the right amount of sunbeds by the pool and on the private bit of beach. Free waterports - kayaking, paddle board, snorkeling and glass bottomed boat trip. Enjoyed the breakfast, other food was ok. (Recently?) renovated in a beautiful colonial style but there were some small things in our room which could have had more care taken over. Had been cleaned in a hurry for our check-in so a fee things were dusty and there was a wet cleaning cloth left just inside the door. Service was mostly good and all the staff were super friendly but just a touch too slow at times. Gave us a packed breakfast for our early flight but the sandwiches were stale. Overall we loved how relaxing the hotel felt and the style and would return for the right price.

Their management cancelled 3 rooms (before the deadline date of free cancellation) we've booked through expedia and the reason was (you didn't pay) and already there was an option to pay at the hotel but they found out that some others wanted the rooms! Not a good reason to be honest! And there was lots of ants and spiders inside the rooms and dogs drinking water from the pool in the hotel.

The property had just reopened after renovations. The pool area was very nice and comfortable and warm even on a windy day. The staff went the extra mile and obviously have tremendous pride in their jobs and the property. Two weeks sped by very quickly and we were all very sad to leave. Will definitely be going back.

Beautiful hotel we hope to return to
We arrived 6 days after the hotel had reopened following its refurbishment. It was a shame we weren’t offered early check-in as we arrived at 10am, and although check-in was 2pm, our room was not ready until 5pm as there was a mix up. However, once in our ‘privilege’ room, we were very impressed with how beautiful, modern and spacious it was. It was cleaned to a high standard every morning and we had a turndown service each evening. We loved the different towel art! It was obvious that the hotel was not finished when we arrived, furniture and plants were missing, and minor work was taking place across the duration of our stay. By the end of our stay, the finishing touches were almost complete, and the hotel and its decor throughout looked absolutely stunning. We were also very impressed with how clean the entire hotel was. The infinity pool and private beach were picture perfect. Fresh beach towels were provided each day on the sunbeds. The dining room was spacious and had amazing sea views. We felt very safe in the hotel as it had plenty of security. Being able to go on the glass bottom boat, use the kayaks and use the stand up paddles was amazing - thank you! We thoroughly enjoyed our delicious buffet breakfast which had so many options, as well as the drinks selection, fruit bar and evening entertainment. The hotel had so many staff available at all times and they were very friendly and chatty. We would particularly like to thank Eric, Jensen and Alix for looking after us.

Older style Resort but comfortable.
Older style resort with many coconut palms, grass, plants surrounding bungalow type accommodation blocks spread over a large area.Very comfortable. Staff were very pleasant and accommodating..Twin pools, small beach area, free sports activities, located at end of beach area so quiet but good location never less.Only let down was the breakfast (2.5 *) and from observation only the lunch & dinner options and quality.Two excellent local restaurants ( Indian & Italian) within 5 minutes walk on main road plus others in main shopping area. Overall a nice quiet stay.

Dissappointing check in, staff were immature, unprofessional and lacked information. Hotel could do with a make over, including the rooms. Breakfast was not great, found the dining area quite dirty and staff very disorganised. Only plus point for this hotel is it's location.

Excellent hotel, quiet but very close to the town
Informative and friendly staff. Flexible on early check in. Good quality food and service. Attractive gardens and great views over the bay. Room did not have much natural daylight and the internal lighting was poor - and little space for suitcases. But, overall, a very enjoyable stay and we plan to return.

Lovely stay for a friend's wedding
The rooms were nice and we had a lovely time apart from the ants in the shower when we arrived, but sorted quickly. Staff were polite and helpful, although drinks orders occasionally took a while they were served with a smile. There is a little town that is worth a wander into and hiring a taxi to explore is definitely worth it as you get to enjoy the views.

Excellent mid-range hotel with good rooms, generous buffet breakfast, good service, small private beach, great pools, free water craft, modest gym, free wifi, 5 minute walk to supermarket, 10-15 minute walk to town. We had a "Superior Room" with breakfast at a good price compared with other hotels. Room (no. 500) smelt slightly damp at first, but ok with windows open.

Not quite a Mauritian experience
Very basic, beach area tiny and uninviting. Dining very basic and breakfasts and dinners very ordinary selection. Service very average to poor. A lot of locals cross beach area, not very private and water sports very very basic. Hounded by staff for payment of bills throughout stay.

In the areas we were found lacking, we would like to apologies sincerely as this is not our usual service standard. We will address this issue internally with all due diligence. In Mauritius, all the beach are public, we cannot prevent locals to cross the beach. Our beach might not be up to your standard but we do proposed our guest to visit the public beach which is bigger than our beach. With regards to water sport activities we do propose complimentary activities like kayaking, peddle boat, sailing boat, wind surfing and glass bottom boat. A home away from home
This is an amazing hotel. They have went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable at their hotel. The entertainment was wonderful in the evenings. The location is very central to everything. All staff at the hotel were friendly and made the stay so much more personal and special. It's not 5-star, but they go out of their way for you.

Staff cannot do enough for you. Buffet evening meal is four times a week with the other three a la carte. Had one meal we could not eat meat so tough. They will cook you something if you do not like what is on the buffet. You have to sign for everything some times it gets overbearing. Only kettle in room bring your own tea/coffee.

Honeymoon was absolutely fantastic
This is an excellent resort. The staff are absolutely amazing and very willing to please you in every situation. My husband is a very fussy eater, and they were very helpful in accommodating his needs. From the moment we got there we were given food and drinks. They gave us the best welcome I have ever received from any holiday I've been on. Everyone had a smile on their face - the setting was just perfect. Food was wonderful. Great variety and very tasty. Only word of advise... HOT SAUCE if you like your food very spicy. The meals are very lacking in heat so that it suits everyone's tastes, which is fine. But we like our food very spicy and required it. Breakfast is especially amazing. Ameeta, the cook, she is absolutely fantastic. Private Beach on the small side, but very intimate and beautiful. It has a great view and was exactly what we needed. They have good facilities for the beach, i.e. benches, shading, cushions, etc. Good security to warn away any sellers. They have a boathouse where you can book any excursions or book any of the water sport facilities Spa - WOW!!! Amazing!!! My husband and I both feel asleep during the Mauritian massage. We had a full body one and foot treatment. We were there for an hour and a half. We also had full access to the other facilities, e.g. sauna, jacuzzi, etc. So we were there for a few hours. Nice enough Hotel. Above average for a 3 star.
The Veranda Grand Baie Hotel is a good family holiday destination. The facilities are good but not excellent. We particularly liked the Kids Club, the Pool and the Boat House facilities. From time to time there were somewhat noisy groups, particularly at weekends. The evening entertainment was not to our taste, however some people seemed to enjoy it. Happily it ended at a reasonable hour and enabled the more senior members of our family to get some sleep. Our one disappointment was the lack of variety in the food on offer at the Buffet, some of which left a lot to be desired. for example, roast beef that was akin to shoe leather. They could have made more of some excellent fish dishes.
