Was hoping for better

Posted Apr 19, 2015
Pros: Beds were comfortable and close to the exit to Purchase Pkwy.
Cons: A LOT!!! If you offer something like breakfast, even if a grab bags of fruit and water, or something for those who don't get up early.
Location: There is a huge medical center nearby 21 miles from Amtrak station. Not much else out there.
We stayed at Super 8 because we've previously had pleasant stays before. This was the closest hotel, in addition to one other at the same exit, that was on the KY side before reaching Fulton to catch the Amtrak. We drove from near Lexington, KY in the dark to this country area. Very convenient to the Purchase Pkwy, but I was VERY disappointed when we checked in. The staff was nice. The lady who checked me in brought up my reservation and it was for 2 queen beds in a smoking room. Now, I have severe allergies and my husband has severe breathing issues, so I was confused. I'm not sure who messed up, Expedia or Super 8 booking. I KNOW I would not have reserved a smoking room. The lady was VERY nice and offered to switch our room because they did have one left that matched our current reservation. Within minutes after entering the room we immediately noticed the smell of smoke. The room may have been cleaned, but there were smears on the dresser and the chairs all had stains. The beds; however, were fairly comfortable and not hard like a lot of other motels we've stayed in, and the pillows were okay. After dropping my husband and son off at the train station, when my daughter and I returned the smell of smoke had disappeared and we were able to sleep okay. When we got up and headed out around 9:30am, there was NO breakfast in the continental breakfast area. If they had food, it was scarfed up pretty quickly and NOTHING was left, not even fruit. We will not stay there again.

Property staff were very helpful with dinner recommendations. They also went out of their way to see that we were comfortable. Initially, we had a fairly noisy family above us. The front desk worked with us to get a different room that was nice and quiet. Would stay there again, if in the area.

Pros: It was essentially clean and comfortable.
Cons: The continental breakfast was almost nothing. There were very few choices. Beyond waffles there was very little of anything else.
Location: This hotel is near a few fast food restaurants. There really isn't much in Mayfield to do, though.
I very much appreciated the fact that allowed me to check into the room before noon. The location was good and they were near local restaurants and downtown

Nice location

The bed was to hard so I didn't sleep well. I think they should tell you how firm the beds are in the room you choose.

great prices

Our room was clean but a little outdated, microwave was very old and recliner was very worn and broken. A few cosmetic issues in the bathroom, counter was held up with unpainted lumber, just looked tacky. The breakfast that was available was not diabetic friendly , so we were not able to make use of it.

The room was pretty clean except there was a dirty foot print in the bathtub. Musty smell of the room. Needs some touchups. Not a bad place for the price. Reception was nice.
