Nice central location. Very clean. Very friendly and responsive staff. We had some problems with hot water, water pressure, and drain. The streets are very noisy at night.

Going on Spring Break during the height of the season, we were looking for a smaller hotel with far from a crazy atmosphere. This hotel was so perfect in it's fabulous location, lots of beach available to guests, helpful and very friendly staff, not crowded from other hotel guests as it doesn't have anything immediately on either side, etc. The beds were a bit uncomfortable (very hard mattress) and there was some outside noise due to Spring Break clubs, but overall we couldn't have asked for better with such a great price and set-up.

“Emporio Mazatlan - review for November - Awesome!”

This is the 5th or 6th time that I've stayed here. I travel extensively throughout Mexico, the US and Canada. My wife and guests absolutely love it. The service is outstanding and as a 3 star hotel, a much better value than the 5 star hotels along the "Golden Row" of Mazatlan. The location is perfect for anything you want to do. The ocean is steps away as opposed to a 300 yd walk like the 4 and 5 star hotels! I go to the Emporio every year/other year.

“Nice hotel but bring a copy of your Expedia Itinerary, Playa Mazatlan Comparison”

This hotel was definitely nice. It's right next to the ocean and has a great enviroment. My only problem was that I reserved two Junior Suite rooms, each with double beds through Expedia, but when I got to the hotel and checked in I found I was given rooms with one king size bed. When I went to the front desk they gave me a hard time because according to them they don't offer Junior Suites with double beds. I dont know if this was the hotel's fault or Expedia's web site's fault which might have offered an option that wasn't actually available at the hotel. After I explained to them what I reserved on Expedia they switched me to rooms with double beds but they wanted to see proof that I had actually reserved two Junior Suites with double beds or else they would charge me more for the rooms they switched me into (they turned out to be better rooms). I hadn't printed my itenarary but they let me use a computer and I printed out my itenerary and gave it to them and they did not charge me extra (you should definitely have your itinerary printed out unlike myself). I speak Spanish so maybe this process worked out better than if I spoke to them in English. I also have stayed at the Playa Mazatlan. It is roughly a block away from the Emporio and has similar accamodations. It is slightly nicer than the Emporio but if money is an issue I would definitely go with the Emporio.

“Great Hotel for the money”

Regardless no king size beds where available and there was no bath tubs in any rooms (like explained in the room description) the stay was very satisfying. The rooms were very clean and nice, the beds comfortable and the lobby as well as the pool area and the restaurant were always clean. the staff is very friendly and helpful. The location was great, you have a McDonalds literally across the street as well as a couple seafood restaurants and a Night club a couple feet away. Overall the stay was nice, i would definately recomend it.

My daughter and I have been going to The Emporio (formerly The Riviera) for 20 years. The Front Desk Staff is wonderful, always gracious and helpful...the Cleaning Crew continues to keep the palatial rooms sparkling and the Wait Staff have become our true friends over the years. We would go nowhere else in Mazatlan. The food is fresh and delicious, the pool gorgeous and the beach tantalizing. We will be there next year!!
