Great location!

Posted Jun 30, 2015
Pros: Basic, budget hotel for those who will be out of the room all day exploring.
Cons: Small fridge in the room and coffee maker would be great. Rooms are extremely outdated.
Location: Difficult to swim at this beach, but is beautiful to walk along the malecon mornings and evenings. The main market is within blocks.
We stayed near the historic area at Olas Altas for 6 nights after 11 days with family in tourist area.

Pros: Location
Cons: everthing starting with reception staff's attitude!!!
Location: Location is beautiful many places are close to walk to.
Very old hotel, reception staff was very rude , put a deposit down thru Expedia and they still charged me for both nights instead of one even after I showed them proof, rooms are old and musty but somewhat clean, there internet is horrible overall not a good experience at all...would not recommend this hotel to anyone!!!!

Funky and quaint with greatt service!

Posted Apr 19, 2015
Pros: The funkines. Across the street from the ocean. Get a 3rd floor ocean side. Fyi. No elevator so you'll get your exercise!
Cons: Coffee or tea for guests in the morning.
Location: Near the market so had fresh juice and fruit every morning. Historic walks and a long wide sidewalk for biking, running, rollerblading
Loved it even tho it's funky. But I'm fairly adventurous when it comes to travel.

Agradable aunque con ciertas deficiencias

Posted Mar 30, 2015

Friendly and helpful staff

I´ve stayed here 4 times--before and after Golden Zone resorts. All the staff are friendly and helpful--particlarly the front desk. The rooms are basic and always clean. You see wonderful sunsets from the Ocean View rooms. The beach and malecón (great for walking, jogging and bike riding) are across the street. There is some traffic noise but really not intrusive. Various restaurants are very close. Downtown is within easy walking distance.

Fan noise unfortunately could be heard from inside the room. Pool is a little on the cool side. Enjoyed the friendly, helpful reception staff.

Tired and worn out

Posted Mar 8, 2015 on Hotels
Our party of six stayed two nights at this hotel because of it's location near the old town. On the Malecon and two blocks away from the old town made the location seem advantageous. The staff were super for check in and departing. They helped us by answering questions and providing directions. The facility however has seen its day. The interior stairs and wooden walkways are newly painted but showed signs of wear. The walkway was on a ten degree angle. Some of the posts were cracked and the hand railings low, below any standard we are accustomed seeing. The rooms were also tired needing patching and paint. Rooms towards the restaurant were subject to Sunday night karaoke until past ten pm performed by loud intoxicated people. Late night vehicle traffic kept things loud into the early morning hours. Both the structure and our group were worn and tired by the end of our stay.

We got what we paid for. If staying more than 2 nights, I'd suggest paying for the ocean view. But this was a stopover on the way to other places.
