“A most beautiful place”

PB Mazatlan is a wonderful older resort. It has great ambiance, is very comfortable, has a very friendly and efficient staff. The food is excellent. Transportation to old Mazatlan is easy by taxi or bus. If you are going to stay in a hotel/resort in Mazatlan this is my top pick. Great beach, two pools, two restaurants and a coffee shop.

Area recommendations
Old Mazatlan has plenty of good shops and restaurants. On weekends sidewalk vendors with all sorts of crafts set up in the Plazuela Machado. Just off the Plazuela is the Angela Peralta Teatro where you can take in opera, concerts and other performances. Out toward the beach you can walk along Olas Altas and choose from a large assortment of eating places. Olas Altas becomes Avenida del Mar. There are several nice sculptures along these avenues including the motorcycle, the fisherman's tribute, the dolphins, the Pulmonia and many more. During the day you may be fortunate to see the cliff divers if the tide is right. We walked these areas day and night. It is SAFE, SAFE SAFE!! We just got back yesterday from 5 weeks in Mazatlan. Can't wait to go back.
When to go
We like November & December. The weather is nice, not too hot & muggy. March & April are also nice.
Getting around
Pulmonias are modified Volkswagon "Bug" that have been chopped and modified with a big back seat and a top. The rest is open air. Taxis are also plentiful. There are two types of busses. The larger one is green and air conditioned. It costs about 10 pesos. The more common busses are green and white, cost about 5 pesos and are not airconditioned.
Shopping
For light food shopping there are many delis. For serious food shopping go to either Mega or Soriana. Easy to navigate them for non-Spanish speaking tourists. There is a Home Depot, Sam's club and Walmart. Lots of small shops of local or regional merchandise. In Old Mazatlan or the Centro are many shops where local artisans sell there wares.
Dining
Cilantros at PB Mazatlan; Molika corner of Constiucion & Bellisario Domingus; Waters Edge on Olas Altas; Cueva de Lyon on Olas Altas; Bella Mar at Olas Alta Inn, Me Restaurant on Ave. del Mar; Allegro on Bellisario Domingus; Topolo just off the Plazuala Machado; Pedro y Lola on the Plazuela; Sunday brunch at PB Mazatlan or PB Emerald Bay; El Bohemia at the Plazuela; Vitorios in the Golden Zone; Yoopers in the Golden Zone (a mostly Canadian/American clientele; good place to watch football). These are just the ones we went to in November. There many others on our list to try next time we go back.
Events and shows
November is the cultural month. There are many fine performances at the Angela Peralta Teatro in the Centro. The local baseball team the Venados is also active and entertaining during these months. The world's best bass fishing lake is nearby. There is usually an air show on the Avenida del Mar in Novermber. There are two monthly newspapers that are very helpful in discovering activities. They are both free. One is M! the other is The Pacific Pearl. Many of the beaches will have parasailing and other boat rentals. Trophy fishing is very popular. The are golf opportunities. The courses are generally very good.

“Friendly elegance”

Pueblo Bonito offers the ease and friendliness of Mexico with the elegance of an upscale resort. The staff was professional and, at the same time, treated us like family. The location is within walking distance of many nice little restaurants and shops yet outside of the noise and spring break-type crowd found closer into the Golden Zone.

Area recommendations
The neighborhood surrounding the hotel offers many nice little family-owned cafes with different cuisines. Also shops with essentials and gilts make it a great location. We also love the Machado area in the city center. It is the district that has music schools, theater, art galleries. The restaurants put their tables outside and it has a sort of Mediterranean feel. by far the best local food can be found at the little stands surrounding the big central market. It is home cooked food like you see on the Food Network!

“Paradise in Paradise”

Pueblo Bonito in Mazatlan was outstanding this visit. This was my first time at Pueblo Bonito and I've been visiting yearly since 1992. It did not disappoint. The weather fantastic. Prices reasonable with great value for your peso. Food delicious. Atmosphere first class. Service impeccable and tips greatly appreciated. The employees and their good attitude and appreciation of your business is refreshing. All amenities in good repair and an outstanding feeling of security. A variety of activities to keep you entertained.

Area recommendations
I recomend you don't miss Old Mazatlan. Cliff divers, Plaza Machado, public market , cathedral and the craft and souvenier shops in the Olas Altas Beach area. A walk through the Golden Zone is fun too. There is a zoo to check out too. All are a short Pulmonia ride away.
When to go
I enjoyed November over March. It's always about 85f day but I think the heat is less humid in November.
Getting there
Get a direct flight if possible.
Getting around
Pulmonia for around town cab to the airport if you don't have a shuttle. Make sure to negotiate your fare before leaving. It can avoid ugly scenes upon arrival at your destination.
What to pack
Sandals, sunglasses, sunscreen, shorts, tshirts, a hat and mad money.
Must see
Plaza Machado, Cathedral, Public Market, Fishermans Market, Zoo, Golden Zone, Baby Turtles released at Pueblo Bonito Mazatlan.
Dining
Pueblo Bonito is an excellent source of fresh, delicious comfort food at reasonable prices. Incredible service.
Outdoors or beach
The Pueblo Bonito beach is totally secure and well equiped with chairs, umbrellas and Palapas. Food and beverage service on the beach and around the pools. You can still barter with the beach vendors if you invite them over but plenty of security men make sure they don't bother you and leave you alone if you are not interested.

“Great time!”

This was our first visit to Pueblo Bonito, but not to Mazatlan. We will definitely stay there again. Our Housekeeper, Matty was wonderful! The rest of the hotel staff was equally attentive and friendly. The only negative comment was being surrounded by bees for breakfast. The restaurant staff attempted to shoo them away, but something else really needs to be done. Food and beverage prices are a bit too high, therefore we did eat more meals away from the hotel. In listening to some other guests, it was evident that more guests would use the food outlets more if the prices weren't so high. The hotel does an excellent job of providing activities for all interests throughout the day. We highly recommend this hotel and will return in the spring.

“An Ideal Destination”

We originally booked our trip to Mazatlan at the RIU all-inclusive on the North Shore. After experiencing the poor service/food, not to mention completely remote location, we quickly relocated to Pueblo Bonito in Mazatlan. Could not be happier with the decision! The hotel is right on the beach and we got a Junior Suite European Style equipped with kitchenette, living area, and balcony with a gorgeous beach front view! It was perfect! Very local to the nightlife and shopping. The best part: While you're in the middle of all the happenings of Mazatlan, this hotel also has a sister resort in gorgeous Emerald Bay that you can go to by free shuttle as well! The sister resort is absolutely breathtaking, and you get to use their pool and private beach. This hotel made for an absolutely unforgettable trip to Mazatlan!

Dining
Cilantro's at this hotel is delicious and right on the beach!
