"Great stay in Mazatlan"
Have stayed several places in Mazatlan and this was wonderful. Clean, bigger room than expected (kitchen), nice staff and the grounds/pools are beautiful. Wish we'd had longer than three days.

"Will Definitely Go Back"
I recently stayed at an enormous resort in Playa del Carmen that was so big and impersonal. My stay at the Royal Villas was more intimate and friendly. The staff were all so nice...the room was clean and had a beautiful ocean view...I was very impressed. Will definitely be going back!

The staff out at the bar by the pool is very friendly, energetic, professional, and accomodating. By the second day they knew us, our travelling friends, and our room numbers. They made our stay there very comfortable.

"Close to beach but a bit out of town"
First off, LOVE Mazatlan! First time here and we picked it be cause we wanted a place that was not overly touristy. We got exactly what we wanted. Crowne Plaza is located about 30 minutes from downtown but it's a fun cab ride. The hotels staff especially the waiters were very friendly and the food was good. Beautiful location with a great pool but also the option of going in the ocean.

"Nice hotel for a relaxing vacation"
Our family had a great time. The facilities and beach were kept cleaned. We always saw people cleaning. Early in the morning you will see them clean the beach. I enjoyed walking every morning on the beach. The children (ages 11 & 15) enjoyed playing Foosball and ping pong. An adult need to be present for them to play pool. We enjoyed sitting on the large rocking chairs under the shade with cool drinks. The food was good at Casa Roberto's and Georgini's. You need to make reservations for Georgini's (Italian) and La Terraza (dinner show). The buffet was not the best. I still recommend the all inclusive plan. The best time to enjoy the pool was in the morning. It's crowded in the afternoon. We had to call housekeeping several times during our stay for shampoo. We also called to have the light bulbs changed and they came at a reasonable time. You can exchange dollars to pesos at the hotel if needed. We would definitely come back to Hotel Playa Mazatlan.

"Nice Place, Mostly Laid Back"
It was all in all a good experience. This hotel is far from any activities so bring your cab budget. It's like 100 ($7.50 USD) pesos to the Golden Zone. I found that much of Mazatlán is Spanish speaking only. My experiences in Cabo San Lucas, Puerto Vallarta, Playa Del Carmen, and Cancun had many more folks who were bilingual. Shame on me for not being but for a tourist town I'd expected a bit less trouble communicating with hotel staff. We were there for 6 nights and only had two real issues during the stay. The first was that they were replacing pool deck tiles with a hammer, chisel, and sometimes a jackhammer. This noise was unbearable, especially bright and early in the morning. A brief question to the head maintenance guy and the noise was limited to afternoon hours and stopped completely over the weekend. Gracias! The next was Sunday night when there were many local guests and everyone had a boombox and/or too much to drink making for loud voices. That quieted down about 11pm but 15m later, the Karaoke started up in the room above ours. They ran until about 3am. That was a bit tough. The final thing was that the pool could have been operated better. It was one of those 'zero edge' pools that requires water to spill over the edge to be automatically skimmed. The water level was too low so it wasn't being skimmed and after busy days there was a float of debris including body and tanning oils on the surface.
