Our one night stay on the way to the beachPosted Sep 11, 2013
Pros: The Hotel was clean, great atmosphere, good breakfast and it was quiet. the check out desk clerk was VERY friendly and cheerful.
Cons: Greet or atleast acknowlege all customers cheerfully... Be aware of problems with the rooms before customers arrive.
Location: We drove to South Padre Island which was about 1 hour away.
The girl at the desk was on the phone and did not acknowlege us until a few minutes of waiting. Check in went fast and easy since it was prepaid online. Our room was not ready for us when we checked in, so we took the next available room. We were assigned to a nice, cool, clean room on the 3rd floor. Upon arrival we could hear a water pipe above us as if someone was opening a closing the water in the bathtube. Unfortuntely the noise level was quite loud. We ignored it thinking it would soon stop and just concentrated on unpacking and getting into comfortable clothes to take a nap before dinner. At that point I realized the water noise had been going on and off every few second for 30 minutes. I called the front desk to report the noise , and said they could move us to another room if we wanted to. So needless to say I was already annoyed about the noise, a headache and now having to repack, get dressed and move everything to another room!! ... but my husband and I did. The second room was better even thought it took a while to cool down, but it was quiet and comfortable. I was disspaointed , especially since we have always had a great stay at Embassy Suites but my feeling was that if the hotel knew that that was a problem room ( with the noise) we should have not bee given that room in the first place.

Nice place to relaxPosted Sep 4, 2013 on Hotels.com
What a wonderful relaxing stay! I wanted to visit my companion who works in McAllen for a weekend of football and fun. From the check in to the check out the stay was a pleasure. Kuddos to the lounge staff, bartenders and love the jazz band. TV's also in the lounge kept us up on College football and sports, news in general. Nice to have a relaxing environment outside the room, but inside the respite of our getaway weekend! Great restaurant, breakfast, cocktail hour, pool, housekeeping staff......it was a total pleasure!
